Poi Dog Pondering ("Poi Dog" is Hawaiian slang meaning "mutt") has been making music since the mid-eighties when members began composing and performing in their hometown of Honolulu. At one point, Poi Dog recorded soulful compositions for Columbia Records before executives decided the band's sound was too eccentric to market.
