- So now, you guys were from a big family, right?
- Yes we are.
- How many?
- 15.

- 10 boys and 5 girls.
- Wow.
- Raised by a single parent, my mom only.
My father unfortunately passed at a early age and left my mom to raise all 15 of us.
- Okay.
Now, Mom had to do some strong raising, I know.
- Yes, she did 'cause we were some mischievous kids.
- Well, we got a few of those mothers left like that.
But now, not many.
- Not many.
No.
- That can round up 15 of 'em.
- That's right.
- Yes.

- Sometimes, you got a whipping for something you didn't even do.
- That's true.
- Well, she start from the, if nobody told on the other one, she said, "I'm gonna start from the top and go all the way down to the bottom."
- Somebody gonna say something.
(Ricky laughing) I ain't do it, Mom.

- That's right.
(both chuckling) - Pointing fingers, right?
- Yep, and fortunately, when she got down to me, 'cause at that time, I was the baby.
- Uh-huh.
- And she was too tired to whip me.
(George laughing) I was in the bright pants.
- Hey, being the baby paid off, right?

So I know you were with Brother Charles Johnson.
- Yes.
- For a good while.
How long were you with Charles Johnson?
- For about 10 years.
- 10 years.
- Yes, sir.
- And now you've been traveling all over the place doing your own personal solo ministry, right?
- Yes.
Yes, I have.
- Great, and you'll go anywhere they call you, right?
- Amen, as long as there's souls out there to be saved, I wanna be in the midst there.
- That is a beautiful thing.

Now, let's say a very special hello and salute to a very important person.
I'm gonna call him important because he's meant so much to so many for so long.
91 years of age.
He's young, he's a young guy, and his name is Mr. Dave Hatcher Sr.
He's a resident of Hueytown, Alabama, born in Orrville, Alabama.
And he's a chairman of the Deacon Board at Macedonia Baptist Church.
He worked 26 years in the US Post Office, father of three and seven grandchildren.
Had a chance to spend some time with him not too long ago.
And I'm telling you, boy, he's got a good-looking automobile.
He said he special ordered it.
I don't remember the year of it, but it still looks brand new 'cause he takes real good care of it.
And that's what people do, when they wanna hold on to something, they take care of it.
That's right.
That's a word for somebody.
So Mr. Dave Hatcher Sr., you're a man among men, and we appreciate you and we are honored to say that you're our Golden Vessel.

So did you get a chance to play in college at all?
- I played in college.
I attended Alabama State University down in Montgomery, Alabama.
I was a decent saxophonist, not a great student, but had a good time (both laughing) and definitely learned some chops along the way.
