Today we're chatting with folks in Bellingham who are doing living a little differently.
This is your typical quaint Bellingham neighborhood.
But what if the community of all of these homes could be found in one building?
Let's go meet your potential neighbors.
The people gathering here have come together around a shared desire for something some neighborhoods no longer offer.
Real everyday community.
What are they building and why?
Well, when I first thought about moving into cohousing, I thought it was just about a place to live.
But it turns out it's way more about how to live.
I've been searching for a cohousing community for for several years.
And it's all about location, location, location.
And be part of a developing community is really exciting to be in on the ground floor.
I've lived in a community here in Bellingham, a long time, but I want deeper relationships.
And I'm also excited about having a smaller carbon footprint.
Bellingham is a wonderful, wonderful town.
It has lots of amenities.
The walk score’s 91.
The bike score is 99.
We like all that.
I do like time by myself and space that I, you know, I can retreat to when I need a break.
But then when I want to be with people, I can just step out of my door and people are there.
In a word.
Community.
That you really can’t experience in a, just a typical neighborhood or in a condo or an apartment, but a a, an, an intentional community committed to each other's well-being.
I think, I think that's really the power of it.
That was really fun.
One place.
Many characters.
That’s 4th Corner Commons.
I'm Angela.
Thank you for exploring.
I'll see you.
