Hanceville Nursing Home and Rehab Center.
That's in Hanceville and Meadowview Nursing Home Center in Pell City.
And speaking of Pell City, our Golden Vessel is from Pell City.
Here we are with Mr. Ron Partain.
Ron Partain of well Pell City and he was born in Birmingham, Alabama.
His wife Sandra, they've been married for 58 years.
Wow.
They got two daughters, Lori and Amy.
Now Ron is a renowned choir director and musician.
He's toured the whole country with his choirs singing all over the place.
They've done the national anthem at many professional stadiums.
I mean they've been all over the place.
He's done a wonderful job.
Now he's even done a concert at the United Nations.
Ron, you are a bad man.
I mean, good, okay?
And Ron retired recently, April 30th, 2023 after serving 63 years and touching so many lives.
So Mr. Ron Partain, I got a chance to meet you at your music store there in Pell City.
You are an awesome guy.
And "Alabama Gospel Roots" loves you and we're gonna dedicate the entire show to our Golden Vessel, Mr. Ron Partain.

- I actually did not graduate from high school.
I attended Auburn High School in Auburn, Alabama.

- But I did get my GED and then I went on to get a bachelor's degree.

- It's a pleasure having you.
Now you work at, serve at, Brierfield Park, right?
- Yes, sir.
- What's your job there?
- I'm the park superintendent for the Alabama Historic Ironworks Commission, which governs Tannehill and Brierfield state parks.
- Okay, and we are getting ready for something big down there on July 13th, right?
- Yes, sir, July 13th.
It'll be Lovestock, Bibb.
We're excited about it.
- Lovestock, Bibb.
We got a lot of groups that are gonna be there.
Vendors and- - Yes, sir.
- Got a children's area.
- We're gonna have 12 groups I think so far, and food trucks and it's from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Okay.
- And we'll also have lots of bounce houses and slides for the kids to enjoy and it's gonna be a fun day.

Well I tell you what, we were excited I got a chance to go down and do like a walkthrough.
- Yes, sir.
- And we had a great time.
A lot of historic buildings and... - Yes sir.
- Oh it is just a lovely place.
I'd never been there before.
- Yes, sir.
It's 43 acres.
We have campsites as well.
Six rental cabins that you can stay at.
It's a beautiful place.
Nice and quiet.
- All right, and you've been there how long?
- 10 years.
- Wow.
Wow, are you from that area?
- Actually, I'm from Texas originally but- - What part of Texas?
- Near Fort Worth called Burleson.
- Gotcha.
- Kelly Clarkson's the fame from there.

- But I've been here- - And you're next.
- Oh yeah, right.
I'm not singing, I'm sorry.
But I've been here close to 15 years.
So it's a great honor and we are so excited to bring gospel music to Bibb County.

- I am from Florence, South Carolina.

Florence is a great place.

It's one of those good eating place though.
I can't remember the name of it, but it's a big buffet place over there.
- Oh man, there's several big buffet places.
- I gotta find out.

(host laughs) - Great, how long you been singing gospel music?
- I have been singing gospel music now for probably around 25 years.
My mother was a gospel singer and when I was growing up, I learned to sing gospel music and I've been in several different quartets and now I'm going solo.
- Great, now did you rock and roll a little bit?
- I did rock and roll a little bit.
- Oh, I know.
Were you in a few bands?
- I've been in a few bands.
- But you found out you couldn't get the fulfillment that mama had.
- That's right.
- I got you.
Well that's what I'm talking about.
Well, brother Billy, have you been recording?
You have any of your special recordings you've done?
- I have a new single out on radio right now, which is overseas with the Star Central.
It's on the Australian charts and the European charts.
And it's also here in some Nashville promotion charts here in Nashville.
