Hello there Ms. Kelly.
- Hello there Mr. George.
- It's so good to have you.
- Oh, it's good to see you and meet you today.
- Well, it's a pleasure.
Now tell me where you're from.
Let's turn around here and let the cameras see.
- Well, I am originally from Piedmont, Alabama.
- Piedmont, and then you matriculated on where?
- I matriculated up to Nashville area and now I live in Franklin, Tennessee.
- Okay, now I heard when you were doing your sound check, you mentioned you wrote one of the songs you're going to do for Legacy Five.
- I did, this first one I'm gonna do was for Legacy Five.
I wrote it- - The first one that you just did?
- Yes.
And I wrote it for them in 2001.
And it was their first single, very first single.
- Wow, how did you get to know them?
- Well, I knew Debbie Bennett and Roger who played in, I knew them from church choir, believe it or not.
And I pitched this song in Home Depot.
- Home Depot.
- I did, at the checkout counter, I saw Debbie, - What'd you say?
- And I said, "Debbie, well what's Roger doing these days?"
And she said, "Oh, you know, he is starting new group, Legacy Five."
I said, "What?
And I said, "Do they need songs?"
And she said, "Oh, you bet."
So guess what?
- What?
- I sent that song.
- Did they say that's the one?
All right.
- They did.
So I was lucky that- No, God breathed that moment, didn't he?
- I'm trying to tell you.
Now let me ask you this and then we're gonna hear some more singing.
- Okay.
- Where were you when you first heard it on the radio?
- Oh my goodness.
You know, I don't, I think I first heard it when they sent me their disc.
And so I just couldn't believe it.
I was like, "What, my song is on there?"
And you know, it's the very first song that I had cut as a single and it went to number one.
- Woo.
- Yeah.
- Woo.
- So I was like, "What?
How does that happen?"
- So- - Blessing.
- So who have you written from, for rather, since that time?
- Well, Karen Peck did My God will always Be Enough.
Vestal Goodman did Stand and Testify.
So she's from these parts, right?
- She's an Alabama girl.
- Oh yes she is.
Fyffe, Alabama.
And so Vestal, when she and The Martins did that song Stand and Testify.
And I'm telling you, you could have knocked me over when that happened.
- You don't want me to knock you over, do you?
- No Sir, please don't.
