Candidates and political action committees spent about $70 million on the Kentucky governor's race, the most ever.
That's according to Joe Zaka of Kentucky Public Radio.
Governor Andy Beshear, the Democrat, also outspent his Republican challenger, Attorney General Daniel Cameron.
Bashir spent about 19 million from the May primary to the November general election, with another 20 million spent by political action committees.
Cameron spent 4.3 million with 26 million and PAC support.
That adds up to about 40 million on the Beshear side and 30 million on the Cameron side.
Zarqa notes that Bashir's financial advantage allowed him to go on the air with TV commercials continuously for six months, while Cameron couldn't go on the air until August.
