Pile from Boston, MA
Pile exploded out of Boston’s vibrant punk/hardcore scene in the late 2000’s, known as much for the power of their performances as their music. Never content to stand still, they’ve practically lived on the road ever since and bring that same restlessness to constantly exploring and re-inventing their music – all while maintaining their trademark cathartic tension.

That's when we started playing house shows and that was very different, at least to what I was familiar with playing in Boston.
I'd played in a band before that, but it was mostly in clubs and there's a a ton of colleges in Boston, and so there's a transience there, but with that came just people just looking for something to do, and these houses existed, and people would just come through to hang, and it also was pretty fertile ground for touring bands as well.
Yeah, it was just a really exciting thing to be a part of, and it was cool to just be sort of felt.
You know, a pretty straight-ahead rock band compared to what we were seeing a lot of and be still be accepted and embraced for what we were doing.

So, we were playing a lot at home, and we were very much proud of where we were coming from because of the community that existed there.
I think that we tried to, yeah, we tried to put ourselves out there in the world as much as we could, and also tried to represent as best we could.
There were a lot of bands from the city that we admired and tried to tour with them and play as many shows with them as we could, and it did feel like just a lot of community building stuff.
Very grateful to be back in Birmingham.
