We got this offer to open- - Oh yeah.
- Like an art opening in Detroit at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, MOCAB.
They were doing Joshua White and Gary Panter.
Gary Panter was the set designer for "Pee-Wee's Playhouse" but he also designed the artwork for The Screamers, which is one of our most important bands next to Suicide as far as a two, well, they were a three person, but yeah.
But- - But as far as like what they were communicating and what they were doing like instrumental-wise.
- So we were like- - Huge influence to us.
- So we were like, what if we do agree after, well I think it'd been like three years since we had played a show.
We were like what if we come back, we do the show, and we open with a Screamers cover, and then we tell Gary Panter, who designed their logo, and I actually knew them, like please stay for just...
I know it's like you're the artist of the night, you probably just wanna go to bed, like but just stay for the first song.
It's for you.
- Yeah.
- He not only stayed for the first song, he stayed for the entire set, came up to us afterwards.
He was like, "Don't tell anybody, but this is better than their version."
(Nicola laughs) Which just gave us- - We did "122 Hours of Fear", which is like a amazing- - Song of theirs.
So and that gave us a lot of like, this is okay, so the money's gonna be tighter.
It's gonna be a whole new landscape, but we were like, this is what feeds us.

And so for the album before Perception was This Behavior, and that one we went to a cottage in Northern Michigan where we live, and in the middle of winter, and we wrote 23 demos in 46 days.
So then the next album, Nicola was like, "Why don't we do like a sensory?"
- Like do the opposite, where suddenly like we're in this like shining situation, which I guess is not really- - Or altered states.
- It's not really that opposite, but like we're in this beautiful landscape, but it's isolated, and now let's do like a sensory deprivation thing, where we're just like going down into a black hole, and like does that heighten what you're hearing?

- Yeah.
I think it's good to not be comfortable.
