- I'm awesome.
And how are you doing?
- Great.
You're bringing so much energy to the show.
We really love that.
- Oh, thank you.
- Thank you for joining us on "Alabama Gospel Roots," and as a director, you turn around there so they can see you.
In case somebody's looking for you, they'll know it's you really, okay?
Where are you from?
- I'm from Enterprise, Alabama.
- Enterprise.
"Enterprise."
- Enterprise.
- I got you.
I got you.
And you wanted to come and be on "Alabama Gospel Roots," and here you are.
- Here I am.
- We're so glad to have you.
- Thank you for having me.
- Yeah, what church are you with there?
- I'm a member of Lee Street Baptist Church.
- Been there quite some time?
- That was the church I was raised in, and been there ever since.
- That's beautiful.
- You sing in choir there?
- Well, actually, my ministry started last April, April the 21st, and I have been booked every weekend since then on top of teaching kindergarten during the week.
And I just travel- - Oh, you're a kindergarten- on the weekends.
- teacher?
- I am a kindergarten teacher.
- Wow.
Have you seen children change over the years?
- I absolutely have.
They still come to my door.
- They still come to you?
- They still come to my door to get that morning hug.
- Hey, that's the way it's supposed to be.
- That's right- You fall in love with your kindergarten teacher and your first grade teacher, you know.
Now, after that, it gets a little rough.
- Right, right.
- Great, so you have family?
- I do have family, and they live in Enterprise, Alabama, as well.
So, all of us live on 80 acres.
- Wow.
- Yeah, so my parents are at the house up the hill on a dirt road.
- Wow, 80 acres!
You got a- - Fish pond.
- Oh my goodness.
Come on, now.
A lot of hunting going out there?
- A lot of hunting.
- You know how to hunt?
- I've never been hunting.
- But you been fishing?
- I have been fishing.
- Catch any- - But I don't bait my own hook.
- Okay, but you do catch... What you do when the fish get on the hook?
What do you do when they're tossing a (squeals)?
- I ask my husband to take it off.
- Great, great, well, thank you so much for joining us on "Alabama Gospel Roots."
'Cause you're closing this out now, so you've gotta say this with me, okay?
Look right there.
And repeat after me.
You ready?
- I'm ready.
- We're all sisters and brothers.
- We're all sisters and brothers.
- There's only one color.
- There's only one color.
- And th the color of love.
- And that is the color of love.
- I like the way you say that.
Well, listen, everybody, I want you to have a great week.
Love on somebody.
Smile, and be a little patient, okay?
If somebody cuts you off, don't you get in a tizzy and try to cut them off.
That's dangerous.
You just try not to look at 'em.
Drive up to the next light.
Don't even look over there.
Have a pleasant look on your face.
And guess what: you'll get home that evening, and you'll forget all about it, 'cause you might have someone like Beverly Brown Simms.
They're cooking some good catfish.
You'll forget it ever happened.
Be well, okay?
Miss Beverly Brown Simms, take us out, okay?
- Thank you.
Thank you.
- Everybody, have a great week.
God bless.
