Lewis Boo King.

And I had a chance to be a small part of his celebration.

I happened to be at his restaurant and they said, "You know, Mr.

King is a hundred years old.

We're getting ready to celebrate."

Brother George had to go in and be nosy and embrace him.

I've been knowing him over 40 years myself.

So we salute you, Mr.

Lewis King.

He's a 1944 graduate of A.H.

Parker High School in Birmingham, Alabama.

He was in the internationally known choir there, so that's right, he could sing a good bit.

That's that acapella choir that he was in while in high school.

And he's a former retired mail carrier.

So we salute you, Mr.

Lewis Boo King, 100 plus years of age.

This whole show is dedicated to you, sir, and we love you very much.

- We're based out of Crossville, Alabama.

So we're just out in the country, just simple area that we live in and we love to travel and meet people and just enjoy time with each other.

- Well you know, I'll never forget, when we first got together, we did that outdoor thing up in that area up in there and it was a beautiful time up there.

Cynthia Walton, who is a school teacher, home economic teacher as a matter of fact.

And she passed recently.

And something very special about Cynthia is, we started school together at Tuscaloosa Junior High School in 1967.

We became fast friends.

As a matter of fact, we were friends so long going through so much together until, I don't know, a few years back, we said, "We've been together so long that we'll just be brother and sister."

And that was Cynthia.

Cynthia taught in Livingston, Alabama.

She also taught school in Mississippi right across the Alabama state line.

So many people came to her service and just about every one of them came up to me and said, every Saturday night, Cynthia would call me and say, "Don't forget to tune in to 'Alabama Gospel Roots.'"

It was amazing how many lives she touched just by saying, promoting.

And many of you are the very same way by calling friends, telling them, "Tune in 'Alabama Gospel Roots' is on.

And so yeah, we've been on the road for many, many years and my dad used to pastor our church in Pensacola, Florida.

So we've been all over the place.

You know what it's like to travel.

Born and raised on the road.

- I do actually, on our latest Simmons Family Project, I have a song that I wrote on there.

Every once in a while, I'll go through writer's block.

You're teaching everybody how to travel because you grew up there, right?

- Yes, yes.

- What kind of tips you give to people who travel?

- It's not as easy as you think it is.

- And if you wanna travel, don't buy a bus.

What about a motorbike?

- That would probably do a lot better, easier on gas.

- What's the challenge?

Yeah, that's the thing with the bus, it takes so much.
