My name is Gene Swanson.

I've been a past commander of West Duluth post 71, American Legion.

What we're covering today is the American Legion Baseball, which is part of the pillar of youth and children.

It's something that the whole Legion wants to work with nationwide because we felt it builds character for the guys and gives them something to work towards, and moving on up the line to keep that program going.

This is the hundredth year that American Legion Baseball has been in Minnesota.

We've continually had more teams in Minnesota than many of the other states, and several years now, we've sponsored a team for girls and the fast pitch area and so it's a ground level start for some of these people and some for go on for their careers and everything else.

I am the head coach of the Herman Town American Legion baseball team.

We're here at the Legion Northeast.

being part of of Legion baseball, especially as as story it as it is, I think it's very special because, you know, you ultimately are playing for your community Some of them come back from college just one more year to play with the guys and to to be able to leave an impact on, on the community and Just being able to have the support from from those who have served to those who are playing the game, I think is kind of special.
