♫ "A Picture of One of My Ancestors" T-Boy, how are you're such a good engineer?
Well, I've always been like that.
It's my family who passed it on to me through the generations.
Who is that in the picture?
This is my grandfather, Pawpaw Revière.
He built boats.
Well, you're lucky to have such a rich family history.
Is your family French?
My family’s ancestors came from everywhere.
We’re really a mishmash of all sorts of nationalities.
For example, Mawmaw Yvette was born a LeBlanc, and the Leblanc family were Acadian.
The Acadians live in the east of Canada, in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
But she married a Domingue My grandfather Domingue's ancestors were Spanish Mémère Guarisco had Sicilian ancestors and her mother was a Schexnayder with roots in Germany My great-grandfather Moreau has roots in France And I also had Cuban ancestors through New Orleans What's up, Coco?
Why do you seem so sad?
I would like to have pictures of my family, or at least a family tree like Colinda.
This is my family tree I drew a big tree and put little cards for each member of my family.
And for all of my ancestors, that I know of.
I would do anything to have a picture of one of my ancestors.
Aw, I understand well.
I don't have many pictures of my ancestors, but I have my family tree.
T-Boy, our friend Mazie, do you think she could help us?
Oh, well yeah!
I think she could help us.
This is my friend Mazie.
She studied a bunch of biology, geology, and natural history.
Hello, T-Boy!
How are you?
I'm doing well.
Could you help us with something?
Yeah.
What do you need?
I would like to know who my ancestors were.
I don't know anything about them.
I don't even have a portrait of my grandfather.
*GEOLOGICAL TIME SCALE* Your ancestors came from as far back as the end of the Cretaceous period.
That was at least sixty-six million years ago.
Wow!
That was a long time ago!
Were there dinosaurs back then?
Well, actually, yeah The ancestor of the alligator, called the "cocodrie," or "caïman" here in Louisiana Lived at the same time as the dinosaurs.
The first alligators came from the Alligatoridae family.
Wow!
My ancestors were dinosaurs?
No, they lived at the same time, but they were not dinosaurs.
I would love to have a picture of one of my ancestors!
I know how you could get one... Ok. Are you guys ready to go back to the past?!
Coco, you have to promise me to take just one portrait because I don't want us to stay here long!
I don't want to be a dinosaur's lunch!
I promise you we won't stay long!
Kaw!
(Wow!)
That's an alamosaurus!
Wow!
I'm going to take a picture.
And that is an ankylosaurus.
Look there!
That's not a pelican!
No, that's a pteranodon.
It looks like a big pelican, doesn't it?
Look there!
That's my ancestor!
That's an ancient alligator!
They are part of the alligatoridae family Stop.
Stop!
Let's go!
It makes me sad that I took too much time taking pictures!
Ah!
Well, no!
He followed us!!
He should have stayed where he was!
