Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorshipThis is for all the parents who have to walk with their children through a mental illness.
This is what you should tell them.
Be a meditation unto thyself.
Be a meditation onto thy self.
Be a meditation on to thyself.
Be.
The second letter of the alphabet a verb, a process, a noun.
A reminder that when things get heavy, or heated that you can just be.
You could be in the space between it all.
You can find a moment to take a breath before you speak.
But remember, no matter what comes out of your mouth, you must always be unapologetically you.
Be clear that you are never alone, that you are a piece of a jigsaw puzzle waiting to be found, and trust that the universe she will always find you.
Be clear that you are love, that you are needed and that you matter, and that all we will ever ask of you is that you be.
But if that is too much in the moment that we want you to take permission to not be.
And we will honor that.
But you can be loud.
Be sad.
Be happy.
Be the press.
Be the beat.
Be the second beat.
To somebodys heart beat.
Be terrified.
Be calm.
Be bold.
Be the reason they speak of people who look like you in glowing terms.
Be the boom and the bap.
Be the kick in the drum.
Be the bass and the line.
Be the guitar and the solo.
Be the body politic.
Stand on both sides of the aisle.
Be a pronoun or not.
Be your dreams and not somebodys vision for you.
Be the vessel and the spirit and the push for yourself first.
And blast that energy out into the universe.
Be the basketball bounce and the ankles breaking.
Be the sound and fury of teen existence.
Be open to new experiences.
Be the one who stands up and says free Palestine.
Be a spectacular somebody who helps somebody spectacular make it to the next moment.
And when you have done all that you can do, when you have said all that you can say and the moon decides to smile.
Then we need you to be gone.
Be still.
Be silent.
Be dream filled.
Be recharged.
Because when the sun decides to smile.
We need you to be up.
We need you to be willing.
We need you to be ready.
We need you to be able.
We need you to be capable for the fight.
Because you deserve it.
Because you, dear heart, were placed here by the creators.
And you have a light that is inside you that is illuminating.
And that will lead us to the future.
So we need you to be here and not gone by your own hand.
Be a meditation on to thyself.
Be a meditation on to thyself.
Be a meditation on to thyself.
Be a meditation, a meditation, a meditation.
Be.
