Lawmakers have been debating a bill that would codify the right to abortion in NJ law.
Abortion rights advocates in New Jersey watched in dismay as the U.S. Supreme Court refused to stop a law from taking effect in Texas that bans all abortions, with no exceptions, after six weeks. Anti-abortion group Family Policy Alliance said in a statement “it’s a great day for human rights and babies in the womb.” But others argue the law is unconstitutional.
