- Remember that when these allegations were first floated against White, we heard a lot of pushback from black Bostonians who are advocates of police reform, who said, wait a minute, white police officers do bad stuff all the time and they're not held to the same standard that Dennis White is being held to here.

We're not hearing that anymore, but the question of how race plays into this... That, by the way was before we learned about all the things that were done to keep Patrick Rose, the former Boston police officer union head, on the force despite credible allegations of sexual assault on children.

So we haven't heard that refrain lately but it was out there.

And it's just another variable in what, as Peter says, is a very, very messy situation.
