Atlantic City council votes to close needle-exchange program

By a 7-2 margin, members of the city council in Atlantic City voted Wednesday to close a syringe-exchange program at the Oasis Drop-in Center. New Jersey’s first such program, it served people who use intravenous drugs by giving them clean needles to help prevent the spread of disease and intervene with help for addiction.
