Advocates urge NJ to ban menthol cigarettes

FDA is working on a federal ban, which could take a year to go into effect

Anti-tobacco advocates are calling on local governments, including in NJ, to enact legislation that would take mentholated products off the market. It comes as the FDA works on implementing a federal ban on menthol cigarettes. State Sen. Joe Vitale (D-Middlesex), chair of the senate health committee, has reintroduced a bill banning menthol cigarettes in New Jersey.
