The Aire cCraft Festival is building a full scale celebration of circus, clowning, costume, creativity, and crazy stuff that flies.
Exactly how crazy?
This is, Percy.
He's a pigeon.
But there's someone who puts this festival together that you need to talk to.
And he's about to come pick me up.
Let's go.
So Aire Craft Festival is a four day celebration of paragliding and street arts along Rainier Trail in Downtown Issaquah.
It's a celebration of people and art in public space, combined with flight and the imagination that comes from lifting our heads towards the sky.
And then right here in the green will be the outdoor flying trapeze rig from the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts, so that festival attendees can do a really low barrier pay by flight to try it themselves.
Oh my Gosh.
There'll be demos fr.. We're also planning an outdoor cinema on the Thursday night here, and then this will be our main festival headquarters.
But just over that way, over the community center and over the trees is Poo Poo Point, where we'll do the main draw, the main headline for the whole event, which is the costumed paragliding parade.
We said blurring the lines between street and sky, circus is our bridge.
I absolutely love that!
Can I come?
Of course.
I can't wait.
Do you want to go for a flight?
I would love to.
Then you got to talk to my buddy Austin.
Okay.
Because he can take you up the hill and we can all go together and do it together.
Let's do it.
All right.
All right.
This is Austin.
International paraglider extraordinaire.
Austin, what are we doing here today at the top of Poo Poo Point?
We are here to do a test and promo photo shoot for our event happening in August in Issaquah, where we are going to be dressing up in costumes and flying down to land in Issaquah for the public.
Wow.
Okay.
Tell me a little bit about these costumes and what the purpose of them is.
Sure.
So all our pilots are going to be partnering up with local artists.
The themes are going to include air, sea, sky, anything that's relevant to the Pacific Northwest.
I imagine a lot of creative options.
Today, I'm testing out a cardboard biplane, which I'm very excited about.
Spoiler alert the plane landed just fine.
The Aire Craft Festival is shaping up to be a huge event in Issaquah.
Street art.
Circus.
Clowns.
Aerial mischief.
You won't want to miss it.
I'm Angela.
Thanks for exploring.
I'll see you.
