Right now it's time for one of my favorite parts and you probably already know what I'm gonna say.
We're gonna shout out to some wonderful cities in the state of Alabama, then we're gonna talk to some of our friends in the nursing homes and wish them well and then we'll end with our Golden Vessel.
So let's get started.
We're gonna shout out to Bridgeport, Alabama, hello to you.
Daphne, Alabama, hello, hello.
Henagar, we are looking at you.
You're some great people there.
Lynn, L-Y-N-N, Lynn, Alabama.
And then we have Orville, I think we've shouted out to you before, but we're gonna do it again 'cause you're very special.
And Ramer, Alabama.
All of you wonderful people, we appreciate you right here on the "Alabama Gospel Roots."
Now let's say hello to some of our nursing homes and rehab centers.
What about Wilder Healthcare Center in Dadeville, Alabama?
Yes, we called your name right there in the rec room or in your private rooms, we say hello to you.
Greene County Nursing Home in Eutaw, Alabama.
Hello to all my friends down there, the Wilder family, Mcken Streets, we love you down there.
Willow Trace Nursing Home in Butler, Alabama.
And then we have Eastview Healthcare Center in Birmingham, hello to you.
And Adams Nursing home in Alexander City.
And you know what I say to all of our nursing home residents, we love you, you're not left alone, somebody cares about you, brother George does.
And look, kind of try to get along with those people who are helping you, they're not working against you, they just want you to be healthy, whole, and heal.
Now our Golden Vessel, here we go.
For tonight, our Golden Vessel is Mrs. Ethel Abrahams.
Now I'm gonna say this, she was 107 years old and she passed just a couple of months ago, but we still wanted to salute her life.
She grew up born in Union, not, was it Uniontown?
Yes, Uniontown, Alabama.
And she spent a good deal of her life in Atlanta, Georgia.
And listen at this, she was the oldest, and my brother Robert Thomas will like this, the oldest living Alabama State graduate.
That's exactly right.
She graduated in 1939, yes, indeed.
She was blessed with one daughter, three grandchildren, and thirteen great-grands.
They're still going strong.
She spent a professional life as a fifth grade teacher and she was still driving at 100, that's a wonderful thing.
I probably wouldn't wanna be on the road with her at that time, but you know, it was a wonderful thing.
(laughs) Yes, indeed, she was a beautiful.
And this is what I like about her, she could do the alphabets backwards.
Let's see.
I won't even try it, okay.
At 107, as I said, she could recite the alphabets backwards.
We are so thankful for her life and her family gonna keep the tradition going on.
So tonight we salute the life of Miss Ethel Abrahams.

(both laughing) - Yeah, he did less time.
(laughs) - All right, what about you Chris?

So you have other things you do, you are also employed, gainfully employed.
- Yes, sir, yes, sir.
- And what do you do?
What's that?

- Awesome.
- So it is a blessing.
- Thank you Pastor, so good to meet you.

- Thank you.
- And you're blinging too.
- Got to be, iced out.
- One more time, let's get Rod and Chris back on this stage and give 'em some more time to do what they do, all right?
- All right.
