And I would say a big development in my ability to paint the figure and specifically a portrait came when I studied with Daniel Green in Salem, New York.
Two workshops with him, one in pastel and one in oil.
Hi, I'm Alexandra Eyre and this is The Work of Art.
And from that I was able to really, my ability to capture a likeness of a person really developed.
And then when I applied all that to working in Gold Beach with a live model, I found that it was just such a passion.
Became, it was already a passion, but it became joy.
Some people actually say, well you dance when you paint.
And I go, yes, I do, because we're listening to music.
Music's so important.
So after all these many, many years of fellowship with other members in our figure drawing group, which is specifically where we hire a model and that model holds twenty minute poses during a 3 hour period with 10 minute breaks in between.
And we create paintings or drawings with that.
And then actually what I do is I show them in galleries and I also enter shows.
The Watercolor Society of Oregon and the Northwest Watercolor Society, the Hawaii Watercolor Society.
So it's fun.
It gets my name out.
It gives me incentive to explore.
To, I've developed this whole relationship with color that's different perhaps.
Quite honestly, I love looking at some of my old paintings and go, wow, I had so much fun with color and continue to do so.
The older I get, painting just brings me great satisfaction and joy.
