Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship- Hi, I'm Alexis Rivera Luna.
I'm a self-taught Puerto Rican artist, and I specialize in oil and acrylic landscape paintings on canvas and upcycled wood, and I got started watching the Bob Ross show during the pandemic, and I'm here to give you a tour of my studio.
So, this is my gallery wall.
What I love the most about this is it feels like an expression of all my passions and the things that I love.
I'm big into birding, so I've got a picture of all these birds that you can find in Wisconsin and surrounding Wisconsin areas.
So, I really like to do silhouettes of people.
This is inspired by me and my husband, and it's a nice yin-yang painting.
It's day and night and winter and summer.
I always say that he is the sun to my moon, so this one's special to me, and I just have a few samples of some of the woodworking I've done.
So, these are all hand-burned with a tool that gets really hot.
It's pretty patient work, and then these are hand-painted with acrylic paint on real birch wood.
I do think this home studio just really puts me in, like, a really safe mindset.
My favorite thing is that my coworkers are my fur babies, so I've got two cats and a dog and they are the best coworkers ever.
(laughs) So, in addition to being a really calming space where I get the creative juices flowing, it's also a really great place for me to think of all my friends and my family who are always supporting me.
I love surrounding myself with photos of all my friends and family.
So, my studio space also includes kind of a little business area, so this is a really great space for me to keep updated on my social media.
So, in addition to my indoor space, I'd love to show you my outdoor studio.
So, along with my indoor space, this is my outdoor studio.
So, I'm blessed to have this beautiful balcony that overlooks the forest here, and when the weather permits, I can come out here with my canvas and all of my paint brushes and sit and paint with the birds and the trees, and when I need to take a break, I can tend to some of the plants.
It's just the most peaceful thing.
I absolutely love painting out here.
(gentle music) (birds chirp) (birds continue chirping)
