Okay.
Give me the rundown.
I have no idea what to expect.
To be honest, I think if you have no expectations, we should just keep it that way.
Okay, I can handle that.
But the whole idea is sort of mindful consumption.
Meaningful connection.
Excuse me.
Hello.
Really good.
How are you?
I'm right there.
Hello.
Hi.
How are you?
Good, good.
Good to see you.
You too.
What can I get for you?
I will have a Campari soda, please.
Easy.
And I'll do the same.
Okay.
This is my favorite part about this place.
Oh.
Question bowl.
Oh, okay.
Hit me.
I'm ready.
Okay.
It's a good one.
Okay.
What are you nostalgic for right now?
Summers in Seattle.
Final answer.
I've never been to Seattle.
You'd love it.
It's so beautiful in the summer.
And the air is, like, different when everyone's out and about, you know, like, the parks are all full and there's an ice cream spot right by my house.
That is so good.
The line's always so long.
What is your favorite flavor of ice cream?
Coffee.
I feel like I always go back to a coffee, but I just.
I feel like I want to say, like, mint chip.
- Two Campari sodas.
Yum, thank you.
-Thank you.
-Here you go.
And what are we toasting to?
Adventurous energies.
And facing our fears.
I read something today that said facing our fears leads to serenity.
Well cheers to that.
Salute.
Im full of you.
And Im alone.
I know what you mean.
Like, okay.
What is a quality of yourself that you love, but you feel like people maybe don't always acknowledge.
I feel like I'm the one in my group that goes out of his way to make sure everyone feels included and listened to, and I don't think it goes unnoticed, but... But people just can't start to expect it?
Yes, and after a while, it's like they don't realize that it takes a certain amount of energy of my own to do that.
You know?
Yeah, I think I hold kind of a similar role with my friends, and I love it.
Like, I actually kind of pride myself on being a person that enjoys holding space for other people.
But it can be exhausting, too, without boundaries.
Elaborate.
I am just a giver.
Energy wise, I think, like, if I love you, you'll know it.
But I have been in situations where that gets taken advantage of, where I give and give and give and receive.
And then I wonder why I'm miserable and running on empty.
How are you guys doing over here?
Good, good.
Yes, I guess I will have one more of these.
Will?
I'm okay for now.
Thank you.
Im going to go to the bathroom.
So what's the vibe?
I don't know.
I can't tell where his heads at.
Which maybe should be my answer, right?
Like, if he wanted to sleep with me again, it would be obvious.
Well.
Not necessarily.
It's fine.
I'm just enjoying it for what it is.
He is beautiful.
Painfully.
Hi.
-Hi.
So, how are you feeling?
- Good.
Survived?
Good.
Yeah.
Good.
I wanted to talk to you about something.
I think that you are beautiful and so wonderful and an incredibly special person.
But I am at a point in my life where I am where I'm trying to redefine my relationship to sex and intimacy.
I just feel like I haven't been the most present in these types of endeavors in the past few years, and and I'm trying to navigate what it looks like to save a little bit of energy for myself.
So, I was the last straw?
No, no, no, this is something that I've been thinking about for a while.
And then you came up out of nowhere and I was curious More, more so than I've been in a while.
So I was the exception that you made on your road to sexual sobriety?
No.
You were not.
Do you see how the timing of this conversation might make me think otherwise, though?
And I'm sorry.
I really am.
And I don't want you to think this has anything to do with the night that we had together.
Because it was so special, and you were so special and I just need to honor the fact that I don't have the capacity to be what you deserve right now.
Oh, yeah.
That experience can just exist in its own container.
Yea.
- I, don't want to lose you.
Which is selfish, maybe, but true.
No.
Me neither.
Which is... If you're open to it.
I would love to continue together platonically.
If that's something that you'd want.
Yeah.
Thank you for telling me.
I haven't been able to talk about any of this with anyone, so just thank you for listening.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Always.
I feel really close to you as a human right now.
Me, too.
I'm really glad I came tonight.
It's a special place, isn't it?
Really is.
Thanks for inviting me.
Thanks for saying yes.
Don't you think timelines are so funny?
Like we've existed parallel to each other for, what, four years?
But only in the last months have our orbits really overlapped.
And now we're getting to know each other forever.
Like, think about that.
Yeah.
Like my kids will know your kids.
Where are you at with love right now?
Not really looking for it open, but not searching.
I don't know.
I kind of feel like I've only just moved on from my last relationship.
Do you think there's a. Do you think you'll ever be back there?
With him?
Like, do you envision a time in your life when you two realign?
No.
To be honest, I think that's kind of the reason we broke up in the first place, because we couldn't align.
He was a lot older than me.
I was not willing to sacrifice being 21, and he was ready to commit to things more seriously in his life, and it was just too different.
Yeah, we were too different.
Wow.
But I felt this shift recently where I can finally say, I will always have love for you, but I'm no longer in love with you.
I don't crave it anymore.
I don't wonder about it.
I'm excited to feel all those things again, but differently.
Better.
Can't believe I leave in six weeks.
Are you floor sitter?
Did we talk about this?
Not really.
I think you were the one that initiated last time.
Probably.
I don't know, there's just something about floor time.
Like right now, I just want to be laying on the floor.
Not on a bed.
Like this?
Yeah, right.
Like that exactly, yeah.
Can you tell me something about yourself that I don't know?
Something you don't know?
Let me think of a secret.
It doesn't have to be a secret.
I have this fear of not being able to hold on to friends.
Like I'm losing people.
And it's just going to keep happening.
You know, like Cole left and I'm leaving, and.
I don't know.
I'm just scared that it's never gonna be like this again.
Yeah.
You are not alone in that.
I mean, nothing could have prepared us for this moment, right?
Everything is moving and changing so much, and it all just feels so big and permanent sometimes.
Yes, exactly.
Like, sometimes I just feel paralyzed by all these decisions that I have to make because it's like, what if I make the wrong one?
Yeah, I think that's the irony, though, right?
So that we can always change our minds.
We're supposed to.
But aren't you afraid of that, though?
Yeah.
I mean, always.
But I think that change is one of the great joys of this life.
Like, what a privilege it is to be constantly evolving, you know?
Seeking new experiences and new places, surrounded by people who are doing the same.
We're so lucky.
And the good news is, we will all be here when you come back to us.
We should go to a jazz club.
You know what I just watched on my way over here that got me thinking about jazz?
La la land.
Don't tell me... - I haven't seen it.
I know, I know, I know, I know.
Will... - So then let's watch it.
And then we'll go to a jazz club.
Great.
Done.
Great.
What are you giggling at?
Nothing.
Just.
Life.
You didn't drive here, right?
You took an Uber?
Yeah.
Yeah I should probably go home before I fall asleep on your floor.
Ready?
Yes.
What are you doing on Friday?
Going to a jazz club with you.
Wake up, wake up and youve arrived.
You've been fast asleep as you drive.
Blank stare.
Blank stare.
Keep going for a while.
Past every exit on the I-95.
I love this losing game cause I lose so well.
I'll keep playing till I threw it myself.
All the stuff and say lets play again.
You keep hiding till I forget.
Say let's play again.
Tear stained checks.
But over time.
I love this loosing game.
I love this guessing game.
I loose so well.
It feels so good.
I love this loosing game.
I love this guessing game.
Ill learn myself.
Ill turn to you.
