That's not one day at a time, (indistinct) very much ahead.
- That's decades at a time, yes.
(laughs) - But you are running for president?
- Oh, yes.
I mean, what's so funny is people act like I'm joking.
I'm like, "I'm dead serious."
Why wouldn't I be?
I kind of looked up, and this happened years ago, and my teacher had said it kind of as a joke to me, like, "Oh, you should run for president."
I kind of looked at him, I was like, "Why not?"
And so, I told my family, told my mom and if you ask anyone in my family, we know we're dead serious.
If my sister's at a party and someone's taking a photo, she like, "I can't be in that.
"My sister's running for president, 20 years from now.
"I can't be in a photo with you."
And people understand and they move on.
- Well I fully expect, Amanda Gorman, that this interview will be in the Amanda Gorman Presidential Library.
- Yes!
- I'm counting on it.
