(bright, upbeat music) - American West Symphony and Chorus is celebrating its 35th season and is proud to have served the community for that long.
Charlotte Jordan is here to tell us about this year's free Patriotic Pops Concert.
Hi, Charlotte.
Thanks for coming back with us.
- I'm so glad to be back.
- Yeah, so 35 years, the orchestra and chorus have been going.
- Under the direction of Joel Rosenberg.
- [Mary] Right.
- We are so happy we've been here so long.
And we thank our sponsors for their support to make it all possible.
- That's great.
That's great.
And talk about the concert coming up.
It's free.
- Yeah, we are so excited that we are part of the Free for All series, and especially when family entertainment gets more expensive, we like to do this and reach out to the community, so they can have a really good time under the stars and enjoy beautiful music.
- Yeah, and tell us what music you'll be performing.
- Well, it'll be a patriotic concert.
It's close to the 4th of July.
So the Sandy Fire Department will do the color guard, and then we have the traditional patriotic music.
But the favorite is always the Armed Force Tribute because the audience participates in that.
And "Stars and Stripes" and "America the Beautiful."
But we also have the choir, and they do Broadway music, for instance, they do a medley of "West Side Story".
We do all kinds of different happy music, but also some more classical.
We do "Schindler's List".
Everybody will love that.
And then I'm really excited about it.
We're sitting on the under the stars, and we are going to play "Jupiter by from the Planets", by Gustav Holst, and it's a very loud piece and do it outdoors.
It will be really exciting.
- Wonderful, wonderful.
Thank you so much for coming and for telling us about it.
- Yes, and come early to get a good seat.
- All right.
- Thank you.
- And if you'd like to know more about the concert coming up with American West Symphony and Chorus it's the free Patriotic Pops Concert, July 6th, 7:30 PM in the Sandy Amphitheater.
