SHE'S KNOWN AS THE FIRST ASIAN SUPERMODEL, ANNA BAYLE, THANK YOU FOR JOINING US TODAY.

>>ANNA, TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW YOU GOT STARTED, BECAUSE I KNOW THAT YOUR CAREER PATH WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE FASHION INDUSTRY.
YOU WERE ACTUALLY ON THE PATH TO BEING A SCIENTIST OR SOMETHING IN ACADEMIA, CORRECT?
>>YES, CORRECT.
EVER SINCE I WAS YOUNG, I WAS AN HONORS STUDENT AND WHEN I GOT TO HIGH SCHOOL, LIKE THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS IN MY COUNTRY, JUST THE HONOR STUDENTS, WERE ASKED TO TAKE THIS EXAM.
THE GOAL WAS TO PICK THE BRIGHTEST AND THE BEST OF THE COUNTRY TO TRAIN THEM A SCIENTIST.
OUT OF THE THOUSANDS THAT TOOK THE EXAM, THEY ONLY TAKE 150.
IT'S A VERY PRESTIGIOUS SCHOOL.
IT'S CALLED PHILIPPINE SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL.
AND LIKE I SAID, IT'S RUN BY THE GOVERNMENT.
AND I WAS PAID TO STUDY BESIDES THE TUITION BEING FREE AND EVERYTHING, THE BOOKS, I WAS PAID TO STUDY, I WAS PAID THE EQUIVALENT OF ABOUT $300 A MONTH TO STUDY, WHICH FOR A 13 YEAR OLD IS KIND OF GOOD, IT MADE ME VERY INDEPENDENT.
I WAS ON THE ROUTE OF PRE-MED BECAUSE IN THE UNIVERSITY, I ALSO HAD TWO SCHOLARSHIPS.
I WAS ON THE ROUTE OF BEING A NEUROSURGEON, A SCIENTIST OR A DOCTOR.
BUT ONE DAY, BECAUSE I PLAY BASKETBALL, A TEAM APPROACHED ME IN THE BASKETBALL COURT.
I WAS SCORING FOR THEM AND THEY ASKED IF THEY COULD PLEASE SPONSOR ME FOR A BEAUTY CONTEST.
THE CONTEST WOULD MAKE YOU MISS WORLD OR SOMETHING.
AND I REALLY DIDN'T THINK I WAS BEAUTIFUL, NOT THAT I WOULD QUALIFY, BUT THE PRIZE WAS TO GO TO LONDON, WHICH WAS PROBABLY EVER SINCE I WAS VERY YOUNG, I ALWAYS WANTED TO GO TO LONDON, SEE BIG BEN AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
IT'S VERY HARD TO LEAVE A COUNTRY LIKE MINE, LIKE THE PHILIPPINES.
AND YOU HAVE TO FIND CREATIVE WAYS TO BE ABLE TO GET OUT AND GET THE VISA, SO I THOUGHT THIS WAS MAYBE A SLIGHT CHANCE AND I TOOK IT.
NEEDLESS TO SAY, I ALMOST WON.
THEY SLATED ME TO WIN, BUT I DIDN'T, I WAS FIRST RUNNER UP.
BUT WHAT HAPPENED WAS IN AN ARENA WHERE IT WAS HELD, THERE WAS 25,000 PEOPLE, ALL THE GAY DESIGNERS, ALL THE DESIGNERS WERE WATCHING THIS BEAUTY CONTEST AND THEY DISCOVERED ME THERE AND ASKED ME TO MODEL.
AT 16, 17, I WAS MODELING, I WAS ALSO MAKING MONEY MODELING.
AND FROM THERE, IT WENT ITS OWN PATH.
I BECAME A MODEL AND I WENT TO HONG KONG.
AND EVEN THERE, LIKE I WAS TELLING YOU, I ONE DAY BECAME FRONT PAGE OF THE HONG KONG NEWSPAPERS, BECAUSE I SAVED A GALA SHOW.
THEIR STAR IMPORT, THEY WERE IMPORTING GIRLS THAT THEY PAID A LOT OF MONEY FOR, AND THIS GIRL, I THINK SHE TOOK DRUGS AND SHE TRIPPED AND SHE DIDN'T WANT TO DO THE SHOW.
THEY FOUND ME IN AN ESCALATOR.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WATCH THE SHOW.
THEY FOUND ME, AND THEN THEY BROUGHT ME BACKSTAGE AND STARTED TAKING MY CLOTHES OFF.
AND I'M SUPPOSED TO DO HER PART AND SHE'S THE STAR.
BUT DURING THE TIME ALL THE FASHION SHOWS WERE CHOREOGRAPHED.
BUT THE GOOD THING IS THE DIRECTOR SAID, "I'LL JUST TELL YOU WHAT TO DO JUST BEFORE."
AND THE OTHER GIRLS WHO WERE INTERNATIONAL MODELS HELPED ME.
AND I WAS ABLE TO FILL HER ROLE.
THEY SAID THAT THE HEADLINES, THE NEXT DAY WAS THE FILIPINO WHO SAVED THE SHOW.
IT'S LIKE 17, 18, THIS IS A BIG THING.
BUT IN MY MIND, THERE'S A SEED THAT WAS PLANTED THAT, "HEY, IF I CAN REPLACE THE STAR, WAS LIKE ON TOP OF THE WORLD, I CAN DO THIS."
THEN I THEN STARTED TO GO TO LONDON AND TRY MY LUCK IN NEW YORK AND ALL THAT.
ALL THIS HAPPENED TO ME AND IT WENT ITS WAY.
>>AND SO, ANNA, I KNOW THAT YOU MENTIONED THE IMPORTANCE OF THAT CONFIDENCE BOOST WHEN YOU WERE ABLE TO FILL IN FOR THAT STAR OF THE SHOW IN HONG KONG, BUT I'D LIKE TO TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE CHALLENGES THAT YOU ENCOUNTERED, BECAUSE YOU ALSO MENTIONED TO ME DURING ANOTHER CONVERSATION WE HAD BEHIND THE SCENES, THAT THERE WERE CHALLENGES.
AND THERE WERE TIMES WHEN IT WASN'T THAT EASY TO GET JOBS.
TALK TO ME ABOUT THAT TRANSITION.
AND ALSO, WE KNOW THAT YOU'RE FROM THE PHILIPPINES AND THERE WERE NOT A LOT OF FILIPINO MODELS AT THAT TIME, CORRECT, AND ARE THERE TODAY?

I THINK MY PATH, IT'S VERY EASY, WHEN YOU'RE ALREADY IN AMERICA, YOU ARE ALREADY HERE AND YOU JUST HAVE TO GO TO CITY LIKE NEW YORK, A BIG CITY, AND THEN YOU CAN MAKE IT THERE.
BUT FOR A PERSON LIKE ME, WHO'S REALLY FROM A THIRD WORLD COUNTRY, I HAD TO GO FROM THE PHILIPPINES TO HONG KONG, HONG KONG TO ENGLAND, ENGLAND TO NEW YORK.
I DIDN'T MAKE IT, SO I WENT TO PARIS, BECAUSE NEW YORK'S THE TOP.
AND THEN I WENT TO PARIS, BUT I MADE IT IN PARIS.
THEN I HAD TO GO BACK TO NEW YORK AND NOW THEY ACCEPT ME AND LIKE, "OH MY GOD, YOU'RE A STAR."
BUT BEFORE THAT, I WAS NOBODY IN NEW YORK.
YOU JUST HAVE TO WORK YOUR WAY TO THE TOP OF YOUR FIELD.
AND I WOULD SAY THAT FOR EVERYONE WHO'S LIKE ME, WHO'S A PERSON OF COLOR OR FROM A VERY REMOTE COUNTRY, YOU JUST HAVE TO REALLY EMBRACE YOUR UNIQUENESS AND FIND YOUR WAY TO THE TOP AND IT'S POSSIBLE, IT'S DEFINITELY POSSIBLE.
>>DO YOU THINK THAT, THAT HELPED YOU IN MANY CASES?
OR DO YOU THINK THAT SOMETIMES, DO YOU REMEMBER FEELING A LITTLE DIFFERENT OR WERE THERE INSTANCES WHERE YOU WERE NOT HIRED BECAUSE MAYBE THEY WERE LOOKING FOR A DIFFERENT LOOK, IF YOU WILL?
CAN YOU TALK TO US ABOUT THAT?

DURING THE TIME THAT'S WHY I FIRST WENT TO NEW YORK BECAUSE NEW YORK'S THE TOP.
AND DURING THE TIME THE STARS WERE RENEE RUSSO AND ANDI MCDOWELL, THEY WERE ALL WHITE, CHERYL TIEGS, CHRISTIE BRINKLEY, THEY WERE ALL BLONDE OR THEY WERE ALL WHITE.
IT WAS NOT THE LOOK AT THAT TIME, SO I DIDN'T REALLY MAKE IT AT THAT TIME.
BUT A FRIEND OF MINE SAID, "OH, JUST GO TO PARIS.
DON'T COME BACK UNTIL YOU'RE A STAR."
THAT'S WHAT I DID.
I WENT TO PARIS WHERE THEY EMBRACE YOUR EXOTICISM AND ALL THAT.
AND I MADE IT THERE.
I BECAME A VERY BIG STAR IN PARIS.
AND WHEN I CAME TO NEW YORK, I DIDN'T HAVE TO HUSTLE.
THEY WERE RUNNING AFTER ME, WHEN BEFORE, I COULDN'T EVEN PAY MY $300 RENT FOR MY ONE BEDROOM APARTMENT.
I HAD MY CHALLENGES, BUT IT WAS A BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY.
IT'S A REALLY GOOD ONE.
>>AND IN PARIS AND OTHER EUROPEAN CITIES WHERE THE FASHION INDUSTRY IS SO COMPETITIVE, AS IN NEW YORK, YOU MADE FRIENDS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY WHO YOU STILL KEEP IN TOUCH WITH.
HOW IMPORTANT WERE THOSE, WAS THAT NETWORKING, WHERE THOSE FRIENDSHIPS AND THOSE RELATIONSHIPS, BECAUSE A LOT OF THEM EMBRACED YOU AND THEY EVEN YOU SAID, USED YOU TO HELP CREATE CLOTHING LINES AND THEIR CLOTHES?
>>I DON'T THINK IT'S ABOUT FRIENDSHIP LIKE IN THIS BUSINESS, IT'S REALLY ABOUT HOW YOU ARE AS A PERSON.
YOU WORK IN TELEVISION, KATIE, BUT EVERYONE AROUND YOU, IT'S A TEAM.
EVERYONE AROUND YOU MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL, THE LIGHTING, THE CAMERAMAN AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
BUT IF YOU ARE NOT A GOOD PERSON, THESE PEOPLE WOULDN'T DO IT FOR YOU.
BUT I THINK PART OF MY SUCCESS WAS IN BACKSTAGE, I'M QUIET, I JUST DO MY JOB.
THE WORD THAT WAS USED TO DESCRIBE ME WAS PROFESSIONAL, [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] WAS ANOTHER WORD, [FOREIGN LANGUAGE] IN FRENCH MEANS REALLY WELL PUT TOGETHER.
BUT BASICALLY, I THINK PART OF MY SUCCESS, BECAUSE WHEN I WAS HIRED, THEY HIRED ME FOR THE NEXT YEARS.
ONCE I WAS HIRED, THEY DON'T DROP ME.
IT'S BECAUSE YOU'RE PROFESSIONAL.
YOU DON'T MAKE ANY TROUBLE BACKSTAGE.
YOU JUST DO YOUR JOB, YOU GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANT.
AND ONCE YOU DO THAT THE PEOPLE WILL ALWAYS GO TO YOU, YOU'RE A GO TO PERSON, "OH, SHE'S SOLID.
SHE'S LIKE A STAR, SHE'LL DO WHAT SHE HAS TO DO."
AND PART OF IT'S BEING PROFESSIONAL, WHICH I, YOU KIND OF ENCOURAGE, YOU HAVE TO BE CONSISTENT.
FOR THE YOUNG PEOPLE THAT ARE WATCHING, IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE CONSISTENT.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE, IF YOU ARE LIKE THIS, YOU'RE LIKE THIS ALL THE TIME, AND THEY'LL REMEMBER YOU FOR THAT.
>>EXCELLENT TIPS AND ADVICE FOR SPEAKING OF NEW GENERATIONS WHO ARE GOING TO ENTER IN THIS INDUSTRY OR IN ANY BUSINESS.
HOW IMPORTANT DO YOU THINK SOCIAL MEDIA IS IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY AND IN BUSINESS IN GENERAL, BUT WE TALK ABOUT IMAGE, PERCEPTION, BRANDING, HOW DO YOU THINK IT HAS INFLUENCED THE FASHION INDUSTRY?
>>THAT'S REALLY VERY NEW.
AND DEFINITELY NOW, IT'S A MATTER OF HOW MANY FOLLOWERS YOU HAVE.
IT'S A DIFFERENT ERA.
IT'S A DIFFERENT GENERATION.
IT'S A DIFFERENT WAY OF SELLING CLOTHES.
THEN WHEN I WAS WORKING, PEOPLE HAD TO FEEL, TOUCH AND ALL THIS MATERIALS, SO THEY CAN SELL IT.
BUT NOW, YES, IT'S A MATTER OF BRANDING AND WHAT'S POPULAR, WHAT'S ON INSTAGRAM.
WHO IS BEING FOLLOWED?
IT'S JUST A VERY DIFFERENT ERA.
THAT'S FASHION THOUGH.
FASHION IS ABOUT CHANGE AND YOU JUST HAVE TO CHANGE WITH IT.
>>YES, ANNA, AND GOING BACK TO SOMETHING YOU SAID AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THIS INTERVIEW, WHEN YOU WERE FIRST CALLED, WHEN YOU WERE IN THE PHILIPPINES AND YOU WERE FIRST CALLED INTO THIS INDUSTRY, YOU SAID THAT YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOU COULD DO THIS COMPETITION, THAT YOU WOULD WIN OR DO WELL IN THIS COMPETITION, IT WAS A BEAUTY COMPETITION AND YOU WERE A SUPERMODEL.
AND SO, THE PERCEPTION THAT YOU HAD OF YOURSELF WAS MAYBE NOT BEAUTIFUL ENOUGH, YOU SAID.
AND SO, HOW DOES THAT APPLY TO ADVICE YOU GIVE TO WOMEN TODAY AND YOUR ROLE AS A MENTOR?
>>WELL, WHAT I WOULD SAY NOW IS ACTUALLY, YOU HAVE TO EMBRACE YOUR UNIQUENESS.
NO ONE IS LIKE YOU AND YOU SHOULD REVEL IN THAT.
THE FACT THAT NO ONE IS LIKE YOU, WELL, THAT'S THE BEST THING, THAT NO ONE IS LIKE YOU.
IT'S REALLY NOT GOOD TO COPY OTHER PEOPLE.
IT'S PROBABLY GOOD TO LEARN.
YOU CAN LOOK AT NAOMI CAMPBELL AND SAY, "OKAY, SHE WALKS LIKE A HORSE, A PROUD HORSE."
AND PEOPLE, I SEE THE YOUNG MODELS TRYING TO DO IT AND ALL THAT.
IT'S NOT THE MATTER OF THAT.
IT'S A MATTER OF FINDING YOUR OWN AND MAKING IT YOURS.
I WAS KNOWN BECAUSE I WALKED ON MY TOES.
BUT THOSE ARE A LOT OF INFLUENCE OF MY CHILDHOOD.
I SAW THIS WASHER WOMEN CARRYING LAUNDRY IN THEIR HEADS, BUT THEY WOULD WALK ON STEPPING STONES ON THEIR TOES BAREFOOT.
EVEN WHEN I'M IN THE RUNWAY BAREFOOT, I WOULD WALK ON MY TOES, BUT THAT WAS MY SIGNATURE.
NO ONE ELSE DID THAT, BUT I LOOKED REALLY ELEGANT DOING IT.
BECAUSE I WOULD BE HOLDING MY...
I FELT LIKE I'M THIS WASHER WOMAN WALKING.
WHAT I MEAN ABOUT THAT IS EMBRACE YOUR CULTURE, YOUR UNIQUENESS, EMBRACE THAT.
BECAUSE THERE ARE THINGS THAT OTHER PEOPLE DON'T KNOW AND ESPECIALLY NOW IN THIS INFORMATION AGE, AND GLOBAL EXPANSION OF GOOGLE AND THINGS LIKE THAT, THE MORE YOU KNOW ABOUT OTHER CULTURES, OTHER THINGS, IT'S REALLY GOOD.
IT'S GOOD TO SHOW YOUR REAL SELF, EMBRACE YOUR REAL SELF, BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE REALLY INTERESTED IN THAT BECAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE IT.

IT'S A GOOD THING TO BE DIFFERENT AT THE SAME TIME, TO IDENTIFY WITH SOME CULTURES AND EMBRACE THAT.
THAT'S WHY I SAY REVEL IN YOUR OWN CULTURE, YOUR OWN UNIQUENESS.
LIKE YOU, YOU ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL, KATIE.
YOU'RE DIFFERENT, WHEN YOU LOOK ON TV, YOU HAVE ASIAN, I SEE.
THESE ARE THE THINGS THAT MAKE YOU DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS.
AND I THINK SPEAKING TO THE YOUTH, THAT'S WHAT YOU SHOULD TRY AND FIND IN YOURSELF, WHAT WOULD MAKE YOU DIFFERENT?

AND THOSE DIFFERENCES HAVE HELPED YOU REACH DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SUCCESS IN DIFFERENT CAREERS.

TELL US ABOUT THAT AND HOW YOU EMBRACED A TRANSITION FROM THE FASHION INDUSTRY, INTO THE MAKEUP INDUSTRY, WHICH IS VERY RELATED, BUT NOW YOU WERE THE OWNER, THE BOSS OF MAKEUP.
AND WHAT GAVE YOU THE COURAGE TO DO THAT?
>>WELL, HERE'S THE THING, IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO LEAVE AN INDUSTRY WHERE EVERYONE ADORED YOU.
IT WAS LIKE THEY SAY, "OH, WHAT A GODDESS."
I'M WALKING IN THE STREET AND I'M RECOGNIZED AND THINGS LIKE THAT.
BUT ONCE YOU RETIRE, IT'S DIFFICULT BECAUSE NOW YOU DON'T HAVE THE ATTENTION, YOU DON'T WEAR THE BEAUTIFUL CLOTHES.
YOU LOSE A LOT.
BUT I REMEMBER MY SISTER, REMEMBER I WAS TELLING YOU ABOUT MY OLDER SISTER WHO, WHEN I LOST THE CONTEST, SHE SAID TO ME, "OH, WHY ARE YOU CRYING?"
"I'M CRYING BECAUSE I DIDN'T WIN."
AND SHE SAID, "WELL, YOU DIDN'T WIN BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T WANT TO WIN," THAT'S A ONE LINER.
BUT NOW AFTER MY MODELING, SHE GIVES ME ANOTHER ONE LINER, HER NAME'S JOCELYN BAYLE.
SHE GIVES ME ANOTHER ONE LINER, WHICH REALLY HELPED ME A LOT.

FIRST, I WORKED IN TELEVISION WITH ELSA CLENCH.
THEN I STARTED MY OWN BUSINESS.
I STARTED AN EPONYMOUS LINE OF LIPSTICK.
I ACTUALLY HAD THE COVER OF WWD ONE DAY, BECAUSE I MADE THESE LIPSTICKS FOR WOMEN OF COLOR.
THEY ALWAYS MAKE LIPSTICKS FOR WOMEN THAT HAVE A PINK TONE.
BUT THEN I MADE LIPSTICKS WITH THE TONE FOR PEOPLE WITH YELLOW UNDERTONES.
YOU'D BE SURPRISED.
BUT CAN I TELL YOU WHERE MY LIPSTICK WAS MOST POPULAR?

I WAS SURPRISED BECAUSE THE SWEDISH PEOPLE, EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE WHITE, THEIR UNDERTONE IS YELLOW.
I WAS VERY SUCCESSFUL.

YOU DIDN'T JUST GIVE THAT NAME TO YOURSELF AND NEITHER DID YOUR INDUSTRY FRIENDS.
IT WAS ACTUALLY THE PUBLICATION THAT RECOGNIZED THE REASON BEHIND IT.
SO I WANTED JUST TO TELL OUR AUDIENCE WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS.

THE WORD WAS TOP MODEL WHEN I STARTED.
BUT HERE COMES JANICE DICKINSON, WHO I CONSIDER AND IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY, TO BE THE FIRST SUPERMODEL.
THE REASON WHY SHE WAS CALLED THAT IS BECAUSE NOT ONLY DID SHE DO FASHION SHOWS, SHE DID PICTURES.
AND DURING OUR TIME WE NEVER, THE GIRLS WHO DID FASHION SHOWS WERE SEPARATE FROM THE GIRLS WHO DID PICTURES.
THE FIRST SUPERMODEL WAS JANICE DICKINSON.
THEN AFTER THAT, YOU HAVE, I TOLD YOU, LINDA EVANGELISTA, CHRISTY TURLINGTON AND ALL OF THEM.
IT HAPPENED BECAUSE THEY REALIZED THAT THEY DON'T MAKE MONEY JUST DOING PICTURES.
THEY REALLY DON'T.
THEY PROBABLY COVER SOME VOGUE, BUT THEY DON'T MAKE MONEY DOING THAT.
THEY PROBABLY GET 100, 150 FOR THE DAY, FOR THE SHOOT.
THEY ONLY MAKE IT WHEN THEY GET A BIG CONTRACT, LIKE L'OREAL, OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, REVLON, SO THAT'S WHEN THEY MAKE THEIR MONEY.
BUT FOR US RUNWAY GIRLS, WE MADE MONEY DURING FASHION SHOWS, IT'S THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS PER SHOW.
THEN THEY REALIZED, "OH NO, WE SHOULD WALK IN THE FASHION SHOWS AS WELL."
THEN THEY STARTED DOING IT AND THEY BECAME SUPERMODELS.
NOW, THE ONLY REASON THAT THEY CONSIDERED ME THE FIRST ASIAN SUPERMODEL, EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE A LOT OF FAMOUS ASIANS BEFORE ME, LIKE SAYOKO, THERE WAS MARIE HELVENE, THERE ARE OTHER ASIAN MODELS BEFORE ME.
I WORKED ALL THE CITIES.
I WAS IN TOP ON ALL THE CITIES.
I ALSO DID PICTURES.
I DID A LOT OF PICTURES FOR CAMPAIGNS FOR SAINT LAURENT, FOR GIVENCHY, FOR MUGLER AND MARIE BARETTA.
I DID CAMPAIGNS.
I DID CAMPAIGNS FOR BLOOMINGDALE'S, SO I WAS RECOGNIZED AS THAT, THE FIRST ASIAN SUPERMODEL.
I LOVE IT.
I LOVE THE NAME BECAUSE IF YOU'RE FIRST, YOU'RE FIRST, NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT AWAY FROM YOU.

AND SO BEING THE FIRST AND HAVING ALL OF THIS EXPERIENCE AND BACKGROUND, DO YOU SEE YOURSELF DOING ANYTHING IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY?

I DON'T WANT TO DISAPPOINT THEIR IDEA OF ME.
I WAS A QUEEN AND I LEFT AS A QUEEN AND LET'S LEAVE IT AT THAT.
I'M GOING TO TRY SOMETHING ELSE, I'LL BE QUEEN SOMEWHERE ELSE, SOMETHING ELSE.
I THINK IT'S IMPORTANT TO BE AMBITIOUS.

YOU'VE BEEN SUCCESSFUL.
YOU'VE TAKEN TIME OFF TO BE WITH YOUR SON, THAT'S A PRIVILEGE IN ITSELF TO BE ABLE TO RETIRE AND BE THAT QUEEN AT HOME WITH YOUR CHILD AS WELL.
WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE OF EMPOWERMENT?
BECAUSE TIMES ARE TOUGH RIGHT NOW.
BUT UP HERE, YOU HAVE TO BE STRONG ENOUGH TO BELIEVE THAT YOU CAN DO IT.
WHAT DO YOU DO TO SAY, "GOSH, I DON'T HAVE THAT ATTENTION FROM THE FASHION INDUSTRY AND I DON'T HAVE PEOPLE TAKING PICTURES OF ME AND WALKING THE RUNWAY, THAT'S A HUGE EGO DIFFERENCE.
HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THAT AND WHAT ADVICE DO YOU GIVE TO YOUNG PEOPLE TO BE ABLE TO DO IT FOR THE REASONS THAT AREN'T GOING TO IMPACT THEM IF IT GOES AWAY?
I DON'T KNOW IF THAT WAS A LOADED QUESTION, BUT BASICALLY HOW DO YOU GET INTO IT AND THEN MAKE SURE THAT YOU CAN HANDLE IT BECAUSE IF IT GOES AWAY, YOU MAY CRASH REALLY HARD.

WELL, I ALWAYS SAY THIS TO, ESPECIALLY WOMEN.
I SAY, "YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR WORTH."
AND THEY COME TO ME AND YOUNG WOMEN ARE, "MY BOYFRIEND THIS, MY BOYFRIEND THAT."
BUT REALLY, IT AND ENCOMPASSES EVERYTHING, RELATIONSHIPS AND ALL, YOU HAVE TO KNOW YOUR WORTH.
YOU HAVE TO GO INSIDE OF YOURSELF AND KNOW, "OH, THIS IS MY WORTH, AND NOTHING IS GOING TO...
EVEN IF OTHER PEOPLE ARE SAYING THIS OF ME, IT'S NOT GOING TO AFFECT WHAT I THINK OF MYSELF."
BECAUSE IT'S IMPORTANT.
IT'S IMPORTANT TO KNOW YOUR WORTH, TO KNOW AND BE CONFIDENT WITHIN AND KNOW IT AND KNOW THAT, NO MATTER WHAT, I GOT THIS, WHATEVER I WOULD LIKE TO TRY OR ENDEAVOR, I'VE GOT THIS.
ALL I HAVE TO DO IS GIVE IT GOOD ENERGY AND IT'LL COME BACK TO ME.
