Judge shortage could overwhelm state's judicial system

There's growing concern over a potential tsunami of court cases as the pandemic lifts. With criminal jury trials expected to restart and the moratorium on foreclosures and evictions expected to be lifted, a massive surge in filings by landlords and lenders is likely to follow. But the state is experiencing a historic shortage of court judges, with 67 judicial vacancies as of the beginning of May.
