Learn Moreabout PBS online sponsorship(theatrical music) - Hello, I'm Stephen Hegg in the "Crosscut" KCTS 9 newsroom.
(light music) After Russia invaded her native Ukraine, Seattle artist Darya Husak created a show dedicated to home.
The exhibit called "The Spring Is So Imminent" consists of photos and an installation dedicated to Ukrainian customs and symbols of hope and renewal.
It's part of a six-month series called "The Middle Seat".
It highlights solo exhibits co-curated by Anastasia Babenko and Anna Mlasowsky at the Ballard gallery Das Schaufenster.
The series features immigrant artists from Russia, Hungary, Georgia, and former Soviet republics.
Initially, Babenco, Ukrainian herself, didn't include any Ukrainian artist in the series because she felt too self-conscious about it.
But after the Russian invasion, "The Middle Seat" suddenly became even more pertinent and Babenko asked Husak to step in with her exhibit.
