More than a year after the first Starbucks store unionized, hundreds of supporters continue to picket amidst stalled contract negotiations for better pay and benefits in Seattle.
A large crowd gathered ahead of the company's annual shareholders meeting outside the coffee giant's headquarters.
Last week, shareholders voted to approve a proposed third-party review of the company's labor practices, following unfair labor complaint allegations by workers.
The company's spokesperson disputes violations of collective bargaining rights allegations.
The new CEO vows to continue what Howard Schultz called a reinvention plan of new benefits, long-term hiring, retention, and increased pay, saying he plans to spend a half a day a month behind the counter working in cafes.
Meanwhile, talks are stalled at the bargaining table aver contract negotiations, and unfair labor practice complaints are stacking up.
Schultz testified before a Senate committee in late March.
