75 years ago American troops waited while the Red Army fought its way into Berlin, but Post-Dispatch reporter Virginia Irwin made an unauthorized dash to get the story. Johnnie Johnson was a pioneer of rock and roll, but it would take years to get the recognition he deserved. St. Louisan Thomas Easterly left a body of work that is still admired today for its artistry and historic significance.
