Bank Ozk arena in Hot Springs.
Our location for the 2A Boys State Championship game, a snowy cold that day.
Can you believe it?
Yesterday, sunny skies and as night falls snow on the ground.
Welcome inside bank.
Ozk Arena for the Lavaca Golden Arrows at 34 and two against the Magnet Cove Panthers at 28 and 8.
Michael Westbrook, along with Westmore a match up here with a Lavaca team with only two losses this year West and Grant Drake Grantham is the key for them because he can score and he can rebound the basketball double double machine 10 points, 10 rebounds.
That's what he averages so you know he's had plenty of double double s this season.
They're gonna look for a double double from him tonight.
Lavaca number one team in the state in the final rankings.
This is a team that's expected to be here on the other side you got Magnet Cove.
They were.
Unranked in the final basketball pole of the season and they made a run through the state tournament and this is a team that's very young.
From Agnico just about 20 miles down the road, so a lot of fans here from Magnet Cove Lubbock around the Fort Smith area.
They had about a two and a half hour drive, but they're still here and they're ready to cheer on their golden arrows.
Like you said, only two losses this season.
One of those losses came to county line and we just got through watching them play for the 1A State championship, but Magnet Cove keep an eye.
On #11 Owen Tillery, he averages 15 points per game, six rebounds.
He's a 63 junior guard and he is one of those guys that can go off from Magnet Cove.
They're going to need him tonight, starting lineups being introduced right now.
Let's get those to you as well for lavaka, Luke Watson, Avery Walker, Drake Grantham.
As we mentioned our player to watch Colby Glidewell and Jetson Wagner for head coach, renter read and for the Magnet Cove.
Panthers Jacob Clausen bow bachelor.
We mentioned Owen Tillery.
He's the six three junior guard, 15 points a game being introduced right now.
In fact, Evan Ashcraft, the lone senior on this team for the Magnet Cove, Panthers and the Big man in the post.
6 foot 7 Kaden Baker.
Coach Williamson talked a lot about Kaden Baker.
They need him to play well, I know we talked about Tillery, but Wes in a game like this, you'll need your post to play well and so that falls to Kaden Baker.
The magnet cove's going to have a size advantage.
Levaquin is going to try to use their speed and quickness, but definitely Magnet Cove.
Their players gotta be able to pound the glass, get offensive rebounds, dominate the glass and when it comes to rebounding and use your size as an advantage when it comes on defense too.
I love the way they introduce the starting lineups because the crowds are split across the court.
So you get the huge roar on one side and you wait a second.
You hear the huge roar on the other side as the starters again are still being introduced one more time.
It's Clawson, Batchelor, Tillery, Ashcraft and Baker for Magnet Cove 28 and eight the record and for Lavaca Watson, Walker Grantham, Glidewell and Wagner 34 and two were moments away from the opening tip in our 2A Boys Championship.
Just a little bit earlier it was the Melbourne Lady Bearcats winning their 4th consecutive.
Girls 2A Championship with a win over the Bigelow Lady Panthers in the pommel back, I'm wanting to get off to a quick start.
You you have a team from Magnet Cove that's been hot.
Obviously to make a run through the state tournament you wanna put a little doubt in their mind here in the state championship game you want them to.
You don't want them to hang around and think hey we can win this thing.
They've been winning so much now it's becoming a little contagious.
If you're lucky you want to jump out early and take away their confidence.
Paulie Glidewell and Owen Tillery will jump.
In the center circle.
It's rocking inside bank Ozk Arena and we are underway.
Called back court violation.
He said that the ball gone across half court and they threw it back behind.
Magnet Cove started with the basketball for all of four seconds.
It is loud inside the arena for this one.
Both teams appear to have brought the entire town with them.
Magnet Cove in his own.
They got a 131 zone balls on the floor.
Got a jump ball right away.
That'll keep it.
As Avery Walker was tide up.
So Walker will inbound.
Glidewell able to find Watson, works it over to the wing, not there for Wagner.
He'll back it out.
Very aggressive on defense.
They're going way out front.
Nothing happening yet for lavacca as they keep it around the perimeter.
Now a cutter and it's Glidewell recovers.
Pick it up strong against a taller defender.
That was a good shot to get the shot off without having a block, but then to make it that was very impressive.
Ashcraft, off the pass from the big man, stripped away, recovered by Baker.
Lot of contact or letting them play.
So far some bumping going on.
I think we all agree we'd much rather them let him play a little bit, not call everything.
Absolutely Clawson High pass over to bachelor pulls it down.
He's guarded heavily by Wagner and the ball is knocked away.
Take it away by Drake Grantham.
The Golden Arrows on the move.
Glidewell to the rim.
Cannot finish in.
Rebound by bachelor.
Magnet Cove looking for their first shot of the game.
They've had the ball twice and turned it over twice a high lob inside.
So Baker stripped the first.
Tom gets it back and puts it in.
Did you player for Lubbock?
I think Baker got the best of him when he went in and tried to strip it away.
He's holding his shoulder.
22 Alex Hobbs.
He's really hurting over there.
Work in the left shoulder was at Avery Avery Walker.
Yes, that's #3.
Full court press for Magnet Cove.
Watching in trouble, they're able to work it up the floor into the hands of Wagner.
He'll pull up thought about it.
Very disciplined.
So the free throw line.
Watch it, take it away on this patch that's into the hands of Owen Tillery.
Crossover dribble to the baseline, showing his ability to handle the basketball.
Evan Ashcraft, now a pull up 15 footer that's good for Jacob Carlson.
Like how Carson took up the slack, took one dribble, got a little closer shot.
Drive up high up the cross Luke Watson hits his first two and we're going back and forth.
It's four to four as we near the five minute mark of the first.
Here's a quick three part off the back.
Iron Grantham, another rebound.
Up top three just short fight for the loose ball rolling arms there from Tillery at 6-3 to reel in the rebound.
Great pace to this, fans are into it.
I agree this may be the loudest crowd we've had so far.
Love these small schools, everybody comes out.
This is a huge deal for the both of these towns.
Ashcraft, on the baseline Nice Pass, inside Double team, taking away golden arrows, loop locks and with the steal, and they waste very little time getting the ball across half court.
Here comes Grantham pull up jumper and too much.
Bachelor in trouble.
Knocked out of bounds.
It'll stay with magnet cold.
Well, we found out really quickly that every locker is OK. Walkers back into the game.
We're bringing Kaiser kid or he's 66 postman.
Just a sophomore so they get a little taller.
Actually, maybe not as big, but they they're just as tall.
And Chase Beckwith into the game as well for the Panthers.
Tillery picked up by Alex Hobbs.
Hobbs, the 6th man off the bench where the Golden Arrows he started summoned, plays a lot.
God baseline pumpfake nothing there out to Beckwith and he works it over to Tillery.
Lob inside batted right back.
Good hands by Grantham he's been everywhere early on.
Yes very active.
Forsen in trouble, it was knocked away so a new dribble contact in the paint will put the foul on Drake Grantham.
This is bad.
339 to go in the first Lavaca for Magnet Cove.
For you're watching the Centennial Bank State Basketball championships on Arkansas PBS sports.
It's natural to begin serving with our kids safety, but when they're riding the school bus, we shouldn't have to be illegally passing.
A school bus puts our children's lives at risk.
That's why Everett is joining area schools to promote the flashing red kids ahead safety program.
School bus safety is everyone's responsibility.
Do your part always stop when you see the flashing red lights of a school bus.
Children's lives depend on it.

Where was the culprit?

I don't know why I smelled it.
It's astounding that this has survived at all these and other shows from Arkansas.

Have prints made?
These are a great championship keepsake.
Here's the website myarpbs.com/photos four to four in the early going 339 to play in the opening quarter between Magnet Cove and Lavaca as we return to play Magnet Cove in possession here.
Good pace, not a whole lot offense yet couple of open looks that they've missed.
Probably, you know, some adrenaline.
Let's call it that little jacked up a little bit and shooting a little firm deep three that was short.
Avery Walker injured earlier back in the game, gives to Glidewell.
He's hit across the face.
No foul call back the other way.
Carter driving in contact offensive power.
Great job from Colby glidewell.
He's doing it again.
That time he takes the charge he was set up there.
Take a nice look up out of here.
Watch Gladwell 13 in your street.
Gets the position.
Shoulder goes down from agnico.
Pretty easy call.
Black Cat did a great job of breaking that press.
It sure did, and now to the trailer.
His shot rejected by both bachelor.
Magnet Cove good defense early on inside three to play here in the first scene in the size advantage coming to play for Magnet Cove, Levac has gotten inside a couple times on fast breaks and they haven't been able to convert as much as they'd like to, and I think that's because of the size they're linked of Magnet Cove.
I screen set fadeaway jumper from the baseline off the heel rebound taken down by Glidewell and Lavaka back the other direction.
A tough shot.
Nice craft, had a little fadeaway jumper from 15 feet.
Got off a clean look but that's just a tough difficult shot that Lavaka forced him into.
Golden Arrows, Glidewell and Luke Watson, both averaging 12 points a game.
You factor in Grantham 10 three players in double figures underneath Grantham strong effort on the putback.
Stayed with it.
He did, he took it inside among all the trees, got off his first shot, and he's the one who came down with the offensive rebound.
Good job of Baker to get that pass now to Tillery cutting wow.
Watch out Nicholas charge.
It's contagious.
Sean Grantham taking charge now Tillery takes a charge.
That's two vowels.
Two fouls there on Tillery.
Looks like he was established he's outside of the circle.
Not that it matters in high school, but he was established.
Got there first.
'cause I could not having too many issues breaking the press.
Gladwell cut off on a double team.
Good job there of Walker to come over and get that pass.
The ball movement wide open 3 little too strong, right back to grad.
Well, he's fell over the back fell on.
Evan ashcraft.
See Ashcraft there he wanted over the back.
He thought he was in position to get this rebound kind of came out of his hands.
Player came from behind.
He thought he got fouled over the back.
Right, well using the backboard.
Pretty safe bank.
My patented line.
It's after hours.
The bank is closed but it's open here in bank Ozk Arena.
Sophomore goes one of two at the line.
I think that's a problem example of how excited they are, but normal free throw any banks it in.
He just shot it so hard.
Look inside, taking away good defense there by Grantham.
Watching Coach Williamson over at the Magnet Cove sideline.
He was telling to get that pass up.
They pass a little higher.
Watch out here a little bit of a wild pass.
Pass into the corner 3.
Three goals for Jensen Wagner, 3:50 Lavaca, as we near the end of the first.
At a foul on the floor right underneath the rim.
What's the second valve called on lavaka?
Directions.
Got a little bit of a run now 80 run over the last four minutes and they both been on.
Grant them both of those fouls.
Which hurts because while he was our player to watch for offense and rebounds, it's really been the way he's played on defense.
He's out of the game right now.
Spin move inside.
It comes up well short, but second or third.
That's a Kaiser Kidder who missed the one close.
He'll go to the line for 2 instead.
That would have been big.
They needed the basket after this run 8 to run.
Like I said, they haven't been able to score.
Just wasn't able to finish with that hand slap.
There's another one Lord, just a little too much.
Coach Matt Williamson I had the chance to talk to him before the tournament.
That happens 90% of the time you hit 1/2.
You shoot one too strong off the backboard.
You're gonna be short with the next one.
Magnet Cove stays in that full court press.
Good job to get the basketball back outside.
Glidewell pulls the trigger on a 30.
It was halfway down a rebound by Ashcraft that can hold for the final shot of the quarter were down to 10 seconds.
Plus an inside 2 Ashcraft shot doesn't go.
He gets it back in fouled.
Frustration mounting for magnet cold.
They just can't finish time.
Ashcraft had an opportunity for it and one he looked over at the bench and kind of screamed.
He was mad at himself because he could not get it to fall.
Hobbs picks up his first foul.
14 fouls for lavacca.
Free throws not falling right now for Magnet Cove.
There's them both 2 seconds left down to one.
Here's Avery Walker at the buzzer off the rim.
Almost had it.
Well, that got 10 magnet Co 4 at the end of 1.

The entire media room was smelling like awesome barbecue earlier.
Smoking in style barbecue provided the barbeque tonight.
You can find them at 2278 Albert Pike Road here in Hot Springs.
Big thanks.
To them for providing food for the crew.
At three different people tell me don't leave the media room without getting your barbecue.
It looks good.
It smells even better.
3:50 after one quarter of play, we come back to Bank Ozk Arena for the second Michael Westbrook, along with Westmore and in the early going West.
6 turnovers for Magnet Cove.
Only one for Lavaka make it 7.
That was trying to force it into the post.
That was a set play.
They had design there and a little back is just doing a great job.
Just ramming everything down low.
They're not letting Magnet Cove use their sides.
They're daring them to shoot from the outside.
Luke Watson, they swing it around the perimeter into the corner.
This is Wagner.
Missed it short and a rebound by Magnet Cove, controlled by Jacob Clausen.
Still just four points for Magnet Cove.
That's what they had at the first media timeout.
That'll change here under reverse layup Jason Beckwith with his first two points.
Walker finds Glidewell he's wide open.
He buries the three.
Just a matter of time before they start knocking down some of those wide open threes.
We had time to kind of line that one up, measure it, knock it down.
Why do well has 6?
Klassen back up top.
They work at opposite side now over into the hands of Ashcraft.
Look inside on the post, not there.
Long possession developing here for Magnet Cove and a foul in the paint.
Kaden Baker was fouled.
Avery Walker picks up his second Baker got bailed out a little bit.
He put it down the ball down on the ground, gave those little guards a chance to get in there and try to take it away, but they slapped me across the arm and Magnet Cove keeps possession.
Quick shot from the corner that won't go in a rebound from Luke Watson.
Got a foul in Magnet Cove.
Well they got baked at that time.
He was going for the steal and tell you why lavaka Luke Watson did a great job of taking a step towards the ball.
When you do that, that's going to create the playoffs.
He just stands there and lets Baker come over across him that that could be.
Could have been a steel.
It's good fundamental basketball.
That's what I've noticed out in Levoca.
They're fundamentally very strong.
Avery Walker dialing up the three cannot connect Magnet Cove away with the rebound, Evan Ashcraft, and then the Golden Arrows take it right back that fundamental basketball has led to six consecutive conference championships for the Golden Arrows.
That is some consistency.
And just as we talk about that fundamentals, they throw it away.
It's just a second time in this half that they've turned it over.
13 to 6 Rebecca leading.
It's Clawson, heavy pressure from Walker.
He's looking for some help ricochets over into the hands of bachelor back down on the low block.
Turn around jumper.
I'll fetch it board of the pump back Baker.
It's just the 5th offensive rebound for Magnet Cove.
I thought they had a chance to get a lot more than that.
Don really dominate the glass Renner.
Read the head coach telling his team to go Glidewell misses the three out of bounds and Magnet Cove will have it.
Very little and older Tori.
Lower price so in tillary with two fouls returns back to the floor.
And Drake Grantham with two fouls back in your gonna roll the dice a little bit.
Look State championship game.
Trust your player.
You know he knows he's got two fouls.
Don't foul.
Be smart.
Let's see if we can't get 5 minutes out of him before the end of the first half.
Don't you think you try to go to Baker here?
Maybe with grant them on defense there with those two fouls.
Now he switches and when you switch you attack.
Hillary Tide up and a jump ball is called possession Arrow 2 lavaka.
Bears coach Renner.
Read this team 34 and two this season.
He looks like he came ready for this one.
A lot of pressure on them being number one.
Everyone expects them to win this game.
Patient offense here.
From lavaka glidewell.
He will pull the trigger.
His three won't go and that rebound was taken down by Tillery.
Coming over on the double team inside shot missed by Baker.
And Avery Walker flying all the way to the other end he's found.
Attack, he just went right at it, saw little seam and decided to go.
Number three, we look at the replay that was just a trip.
Basically I think it accidental trip.
Honestly Clawson was just trying to get out the way he did not want to pick up a foul.
He was going to let him go and I guess their feet got tangled up.
In addition.
Parker Owen is in the game for Lavaka, the six four junior.
Avery Walker, with his first point of the game a moment ago at the free throw line and now he's got 2.
No field goals in the last three minutes of action for lavacca a couple of free throws, and they're up by 7.
Ashcraft didn't trouble there, almost traveled with it, but he got it away before he came down.
Now a three from the right wing that won't go fighting for the rebound and putting it back in.
Clayton Baker.
Big time play there.
I'm sure you can hear the lybecker fans.
They were furious that there was no call.
They don't getting their bakery.
That's twice he's done that he's.
He's gotta do better that he know he just can't go through a player to try to get that steal 2 fouls on Baker Lavaka 15 Magnet Cove 10 you're watching the Centennial Bank State Basketball championships on Arkansas PBS Sports.

3 1/2 to play until the halftime break.
Labaka 15 Magnet Cove 10 Golden Arrows control for a moment deflected out of bounds and it will stay with lavaka.
Parker Owen checks out of the game.
Luke Watson is back in for the Golden Arrows.
Students been tough in this game magnet Co. Making only 33% of their shots, but lavacca even worse.
They're right at 29% from the floor.
Magna Cove hasn't made a 3 way back is 249.
Broadwell, the leading scorer.
He has 6 Baker also has six for Magnet Cove Tide up and we got a timeout.
Matt Williamson and Co able to get the timeout for Magnet Cove as the Panthers will hold the possession here at 32nd break 306 to go until halftime.
Did you see Jacob Clausen?
Goofball was on the floor loose ball.
He dives on.
It gets it rolls over and it was about to throw it to a teammate when his coach called his timeout.
While the backer was kind of bending over to pick up the ball, he just straight dough for it.
Got on the on the floor, sacrificing his body to get that ball.
That's how you earn playing time early on in the year to be in this situation.
He's a sophomore and a big time play there.
Keep the possession.
With the play that aren't playing time, but it's play, that will win you championships.
Evan Ashcraft hasn't scored yet.
We talked about him being the lone senior.
See if he can get going here in this final three minutes of the first half.
He averages 12 and five, so he's a very capable scorer.
He hit a buzzer beater in the opening round of the regional to beat Maumelle Charter 70 to 68.
Here's Ashcraft, guarded by Watson.
He'll swing it over to the left side instead.
Tillery to the baseline spins in goes off the glass.
Great move by Tillery.
He's a guy that averages 15 and six and he's going to scoreboard.
That's his first basket.
He made it look easy.
Honestly, he really did wide open shooter.
Three gives Good Jackson Wagner haven't talked a lot about Wagner yet, but he does average 10 points a game.
I mean they have four players who average in double figures.
That's his 2nd 3 point make.
He's a confident shooter too.
He catches it and lets it go.
There's no thinking about it.
Should I take this shot?
Is it OK to take this shot?
He catches, it, releases it and lets it fly.
Bachelor drives to the free throw line and to the corner Tillery, a screen set for him.
A look underneath and a collision blocking foul that call.
Yeah, that's the right call.
Walker was still moving.
Fax it to me it's a former post player that's not very fair.
He's right underneath the basket.
I mean, right under the basket.
Where are you supposed to land?
You know you're you're going up to catch the ball, but he came up under him while he had already jumped so right call that's three fouls now on Avery Walker and so the point guard for Lavaca out of the game, right?
Nicov taking it to him on the interior.
Owen Tillery is headed to the free throw line for 2.
Hillary get going a little bit.
You notice a magnet Cove has gone smaller, but taking out their big post players, both of them and now the ball movement is a lot quicker.
They're not just trying to force it inside, looking constantly to get the ball inside, they're whipping it from side to side, looking for cutters looking for a way to drive to the holder, finding little success with this, and making a few free throws now.
Lavaka 18 Magnet Cove 14.
Bob's right back to Watson.
Grantham haven't heard from him in a while playing with foul trouble.
A deep bench stretches out on Hobbs.
A double team near halfcourt Glidewell over to Grantham pump fake step through.
Pull up jumper and a little too much off the glass.
The rebound by Magnet Cove Tillery and they're out running the other way, but there's grant them with the steel picked back up by Magnet Cove.
That basket won't go for Tillery and now A3 Ashcraft offline.
It's getting a bit wild.
And Wilder.
Free throws coming for.
Evan ashcraft.
What you saw was Magnet Cove's will to get that loose ball.
They just kept hitting the glass and that's one of the first times I've seen them just dominate the boards like I thought they had a chance to do because of their size, even though they took out both their big fines or centers or post guys, they still have a size advantage with their wings and guards being a little bit taller.
They do Ashcraft at 6-3 Tillery, 63.
See all this again and Ashcraft.
That's his first point of the contest.
Now we'll see one of the bags coming back in Kaiser Kidder.
3 Fouls on Grantham now as well for lavacca, so they got some players in foul trouble here in the first half.
And they're seeing their lead evaporate.
It's a two point game.
Covedale outscoring Lavacca 12 to 8 in the second quarter.
Glidewell drives jump stop contact.
He's going to the line for 2.
Bell in the paint on magnet Kohl's.
Attacked the big man, went straight to the body.
Get her thought.
He had his hands straight up in the air.
A bit more of a body foul than a hand foul.
17 fouls on Magnet Cove Levickas committed 8 here in the first half.
See it again.
Glidewell ends up with the basketball they can hold for the final shot if they want to.
Down to 30 seconds.
That's what they're gonna try to do.
Free throw line Watson, one handed floater.
Paul tipped round Magnet Cove has it out in front.
Ashcraft had it.
10 seconds.
And then he picks up the frustration foul.
It's wild in here less.
I think you can hear them Agnico fans and you can see the magnet Co fans are upset.
They felt like they should have had a foul in that fast break.
So Luke Watson to the line A1 in one one more chance for Magnet Cove, Ashcraft, with five half court with three three point line.
With two he'll send it over to bachelor.
He did not get it away in time.
It was late.
It was late.
You now had a great angle and ball was still in his hand as the zeros popped up and the lights lit up around the backboard.
No doubt about it.
It's halftime lavicka 19 Magnet Cove 16.

Well back in 19 Magnet Cove 16 at halftime of the two, a boys state championship game, Michael Westbrook, along with Westmore and in this one West it's a low scoring game.
I expect much of the same in the second half.
Defense is pretty pretty, good shots really.
Not falling for either side at this point.
Yeah, you might say it's great defense, or you could say it's poor offense.
The teams just struggling to score.
Right now they're getting some open looks difference, probably Lavaca knocking down 33 pointers.
They're three of 10.
From the three point line and big reason, why is Wagner Wagner's two?
For three out there?
And he's looked pretty comfortable shooting the three.
But Magnet Cove there's a lot of gimmes little shots inside that they felt like they should have made, and you gotta feel like in the second half they knocked some of those down.
It's going to be an even closer game.
It's a 3 point game at the half with Levake just holding on.
You know you think about it, 3/10 of a second more we got, I game.
That's absolutely right.
Glidewell 7 points to lead all scorers and lebec is going to have to be careful they've got some.
Players in foul trouble.
3 for Walker and three for Grantham you gotta watch out for those guys in the second half.
Two more in there.
Out of the game.
Yeah you get one quick found the third quarter.
They're sitting for the rest of the third quarter and some in the fourth quarter so that foul foul situation could be an issue.
Second half coming up in just a bit 19 to 16 hour score lavacca with the lead you're watching the Centennial Bank State Basketball championships on Arkansas.

It's all connected.
Nothing.
Can you make a blender sound?
Here we go.
Out pops my beanshell which makes up blood.
Can you say that sound?
Well, yeah.

Good morning, my dear sweet, beautiful, brilliant students of Arkansas.
Well this is Isla.
Isla is a greenwing macaw.

Hey everybody, it's that time again.
It's math time.
One of my favorite things to do as a kindergarten teacher is to read books to my students.

Rise and Shine is such an impactful summer program and we're always looking for a great way to combat learning loss over the summer months.
And this really helps our kids.
It does, and we're happy to announce that rise and Shine will be back this summer with all new content, so keep an eye out for that right?
Look for it this summer wherever you like to watch on the PBS video app on our website or on our YouTube channel.

Another project we're really excited about is Arkansas memories.
This is a collaboration with the prior Center for Arkansas, Aural and visual history that brings to life important moments and people in Arkansas.
I celebrated my 5th birthday and it was a few weeks after that the soldiers came.
We saw two soldiers marching up our driveway and literally at gunpoint.
We were ordered out of our home and so you end up in a place called Roar.
ROHWER Arkansas locked up.
And the amazing thing is, thousands of young Japanese American men and women went from behind those barbed wire fences, leaving their family in imprisonment to fight for this country.
Those that perished on those bloody battlefields and had their coffins covered with the American flag.
Those flags were brought back to their wives, or their parents still behind American barbed wire fences.
Those incredible crazy young men who fought and died for this country.
They were the greatest generation.
They made my America possible.
Such powerful stuff and such a deep archive there at the Pryor Center.
So many stories.
It really is deep from sports figures to music, art and politics.
Impressive figures throughout Arkansas history are represented there and we can't wait to share those with you.
That's great, but you know, to do that, we need your help.
We are partnership here and we can't share these stories without you.

At halftime, Lavacca with a 19 to 16 lead on Magnet Cove.
Maybe a low scoring game, but it's been a fun one.
You know you got a battle here.
You got a 3 point game and as you said, going into the break we're a couple of tenths of a second away from a tie game.
As a three was just a little bit late.
Michael Westbrook, along with Westmore and I think we're going to have another defensive battle in the second half.
It's been a lot of fun because the crowd is really into it.
I mean, it's a great atmosphere and the kids are feeding off of it there.
Hustling, playing good defense, and in in these numbers show 6 of 18 for Magnifico from the floor 6 of 20 for Lavaca turnovers magnet.
Cove's gotta take care of the ball a little bit more, but they're looking at the rebounding category.
That's what's keeping them in the game right now.
21 to 10.
They are owning the glass individual numbers.
Kaden Baker for Magnet Cove has six oh in Tillary with four and for Lavaca they're leading scorers.
Colby Glidewell was seven and six from Jets and Wagner.
Yeah, I was just looking at second chance points.
Magnet Cove eight second chance points.
They've got 16 points.
Half of their points are off of offensive rebounds Go Bachelor will inbound for the Magnet Cove Panthers and we are underway in the second half way back in 19 Magnet Cove 16.
Ashcraft passing inside to Baker Power dribble off the glass and end.
Let's just size right there.
There's not a whole lot that Drake Grantham could do about that.
He played good defense.
He got his body planted and tried to stand up to him.
But just a bigger body and shot it over him.
Watson, Walker Grantham, Glidewell, and Wagner on the floor for Lavacca and two of those players playing with three fouls saved in bounds into the hands of Ashcraft.
Ashcraft works it over to Tillery, poked free for a moment, pick back up by Magnet Cove.
They have bachelor Clawson, Tillery, Ashcraft and Baker on the floor.
A little mid range jumper from Baker falls short.
Probably not a shot.
He takes a lot.
I'm guessing level 15 foot he didn't look comfortable doing it.
Didn't really even jump on it kind of fell away, just didn't look like that was the shot he wanted.
Walker that ball was tipped for a moment.
Grantham just inside the three point line, looking to find somewhere to go with the basketball double team needs help finds glidewell open he fakes, stops into the paint, finds Avery open who fires, can't hit a long rebound track down by Lavaca Grantham.
Pull up jumper, misses and rebound by Magnet Cove.
Baker has it.
Magnet Cove can take the lead here.
No number, so Magnifico brings it out and get the three though, and they have the lead.
The three goes for Owen Tillery just the second time in this contest that they've led.
They've left for only 14 seconds.
It's their first three pointer of the game.
They're now one of six one at a time to hit that three.
The backer was in a bad situation double teamed right here.
This is the worst possible place to be double team and coach bells him out calls a timeout but I was impressed with Hillary and he thought maybe a little fast break.
He gets it catches it on the run.
He looks up, there were four Lavaca defenders there.
Great job by look back at getting back quickly on defense so Hillary pulls it out.
Makes a pass and he gets it back and he's open so he fires up the three leading scorer at 15 points a game.
He has seven and this one.
After that three point make Magnet Cove 8 of 21 from the floor Lavaka 6 of 23.
So a quick time out there for Lavaka and head coach Reyna Reed as he tries to slow down the momentum of the Magnet Cove Panthers.
Avery fell down and they call a foul.
Bo Bachelor hopes up his first.
Oh, it's just trying to play a little deep hits attacks just accidentally collided with the player.
He didn't mean to, he just was playing.
Trying to play aggressive defense.
We've seen a few of those.
We've seen situations where they're playing good defense.
That's usually what happens when you get to a state championship.
You're not going to see just a lot of blatant fouls wide open underneath.
Glidewell, somebody missed an assignment.
He has an easy 2A Baker left his position because.
They flashed lavacca flash somebody up high and so he thought he needed to go up there.
And when he did they snuck in behind him.
Avery out in front to Glidewell tried to save it back in Ashcraft with the steel.
And Magneto just lost it.
Batchelor had it roll off of his leg.
Like what Baker did there, Baker went up to him said that's OK it's OK.
Settling down.
We got a chance here in the crowd.
Go back and chanting offense magnet, coach chanting, defense and they're going back and forth.
I like it.
Huge crowd on hand for this one.
Baseline for Grantham out front.
Looked as if Wagner might pull the trigger instead.
The hard drive and he's got the layoff.
Well pump fake, got the defender to go by.
Had a clean look bad pass out of bounds.
Turnover on Magnet Cove.
That was behind Baker.
Baker was posting up just a bad entry pass.
Just calm down, take a little half second more.
Be sure of what you're doing.
With accolades and in possession, Luke Watson.
It's magnetic, oh defense.
They're coming out all the way to half court.
It does end up leaving some shooters open from time to time.
Grant them to put back no, and Owen Tillery clears the glass the Panthers had it.
Grantham had a chance to give him a four point lead, did a great job going up, getting that rebound and traffic.
Took it up strong.
Just could not finish.
Ashcraft, up top Tillery, now look inside.
It goes to Baker on a double team bakers fouled.
That time Magnet Cove did a great job with the entry they found Baker with possession.
They rotated the ball to the backside where he was wide open.
They had a good entry pass and easy entry pass.
Here it is right there.
It needs forced.
They forced to foul and great job on the entry pass timeout on the floor you're watching the Centennial Bank State Basketball championships on Arkansas.

2321 lavaka Leech Magnet Cove.
354 to play in the third.
And I don't know Wes I. I mean it's the games.
35 to 34.
I'm fine with that.
A close game is a close game and I think this has been a good one to be apart of.
I'd rather have a close game than you know a blowout, so I'm fine with this.
Seeing a few of those today.
Open in for Baker, he's putting together great numbers.
His first two free throws at the night.
He goes to the line like he's a 90% free throw shooter.
Knocks them both down.
He's got 10 points.
Going to get a little bit of a rest 10 points, 4 rebounds.
We are all tide up yet again.
4 ties in this game.
Glidewell, the leading scorer right now for the Golden Arrows, he has nine and they'll work it to him.
He thought about it into the corner instead to Hobbs and out of the cutter mishandled by Watson.
Now and open 3 units.
Right, well 12 points.
Rodwell knocks out his second three of the game get a steal down momentum with Lavaca Hobbs across half court.
Nobody really picking up Hobbs.
Inside 3 to go in the third Hobbs Nice pass to the cutter and some trouble.
How about that?
Able to get it over to Gladwell, he powers his way to the rim.
He took that up strong.
Got good.
Jump right there and was able to get it up and over the defender.
Not sure how this teammate got the ball to him.
Another steel cladwell throws it away.
It's just a bad entry pass.
Bachelor can't do that, it's it's just a difficult law.
The worst it's one of the hardest entry passes for a post to get and for the the wing to deliver to the post man just make one more extra pass to the side and have an entry pass a bounce pass.
Make it easier on yourself.
Hillary was seven, works it up high to Baker try to set Baker up down on the low block.
I would imagine.
I used to see a Baker way outside all wide open 3 on its way missed it, short from Tillery.
Rebound, your own shot.
That's one of the keys in basketball.
He went and got it but stepped out of bounds.
It was good hustle.
Magnet Cove pressuring a bit now.
Here's Watson around 1 defender hops wide open from the corner.
Offensive board Glidewell had it rejected.
No harm done, though Lavacca has the ball back.
You know the five oh run since tying things up.
Watson fouled he's a bit of a bowling ball.
He catches the ball at the free throw line.
You don't know where he's gonna go with it.
He's very strong with the ball.
Even when he catches it in the high post.
He's got two hands on it and he makes very secure passes.
You're not going to reach in and rip it away from him.
He takes his time with it and delivers that pass, usually at the right place who he needs to go to.
But then when he decides to go to the basket, he goes with authority and he takes it strong.
70 run for lavacca.
Magnet code needs to take care of the ball.
3 turnovers during this drought.
La Vaca holding their opponents this season to 39 points a game.
Don't know if magnet cold will get to that or not.
Locked away for a moment.
Magnet Cove with it now a spot up three at Mrs Short rebound by Hobbs for lavacca he's triple team they might have some numbers if they run out to glidewell glidewell the layup.
But then again I know run huge possession here from Magnet Cove.
All of it coming in the last two minutes and 10 seconds, 3 turnovers for Magnet Cove during that stretch.
And we're down to 60 seconds to play in the third.
Skip passed over to Ashcraft, he launches and a scramble for the loose ball hubs will come up with it.
They have glidewell open again.
Walker is going to find him and he has two more.
Tom Ellmaker Cove turning the ball over the missing the shot and then they're just fighting for it.
Once the ball goes on the ground, no ones getting back for them.
That's two straight possessions that the guard did not get back.
God well, just leaking out.
You can call the snow bird.
You can whatever you wanna call it.
That's up to Magnet Cove to have somebody back there to stop that from happening.
Glidewell now has a game high 18 points he's hit from outside getting to the rim.
Now the breakaways and Lavaka has outscored Magnet Cove 15 to 7 here in the 3rd to take an 11.
Point lead and that'll tell you the desperation of Magnet Cove 'cause they could have got the ball hold for the final shot of the quarter.
They realized it's slipping away here using a timeout late with 45 seconds to go in the frame.
Just trying so hard to get the ball inside that it's basically trying too hard and they're forcing it when they don't have to, and we said this in the first half they they started move.
The ball had great ball movement when they took out their big guys.
Their post players and then they just started cutting to the basket or driving to the basket and you saw a lot crisper looking.
Passes and right now they're just kind of lobbing it into their high posts or to their post players.
And Levac has always been there.
They got help coming.
And then when you throw in that Lob pass the help side defenders coming in and taking it away and they just keep doing it time after time after time, and eventually they're going to learn.
But hopefully it's not too late for them before they learn they can't keep doing that.
The three seniors for Lavacca Watson Walker and grant them are at 86 wins in their career.
Impressive run for them and they're up by 11 as we wind down the third in the two a boys state championship game.
Seeing a different confidence with Lavaka right now, their players are taking it to another level defensively from what calls that foul.
So aggressive on defense, but I was watching Gladstone.
He was right in front of us.
Or it was Grantham actually he was talking to the offensive player he was up in.
His face could tell what he was saying but he had a smile on his face too.
Put that foul on Hobbes, his second as he pushed the magnet cold player.
So we're down to 16 seconds.
Here is bachelor around 1 Defender standing in and taking a charge is quite well.
He's doing it all out there right now.
You think they put the ball in his hands here with 10 seconds left, there's a good look at it.
He slides over, he's set.
Leans back, takes the hit, it's good play.
It's good.
Call Avery Walker inside the Watson.
He's pal 4 seconds to play.
In the third.
It's a big foul there on Baker.
That'll be his fourth foul right now.
Just his third.
But Baker was in a position there.
He could have taken the charge 'cause you and I.
We talked about it.
We knew exactly what Watson was about to do when he gets it, he's going to the basket and Baker could have stood there and let him just put his shoulder in his chest, taking the charge.
Yep, see the replay again.
He tried to go up and get the block instead.
Missed both 3 seconds, left one more shot for Magnet Cove.
It'll come from halfcourt from Owen Tillery off the backboard.
1/4 to play in the two A state championship game, Lavacca holds a double digit lead going into the 4th.

PBS Sports it's you and me were back so don't celebrate too much on your birthday tonight.
Alright Wes, I'm not.
I'm not probably going back to the room and catch a little Sports Center.
Go to bed.
Yeah, 13 over an incredible this game was tide at 23.
It felt feels like you know.
I mean in real time.
Yeah, you're right.
It's 323 and you look up lavaka zona 13.
Oh run Magnet Cove.
It's just.
Everything that they were doing right to get back into the game.
They stopped doing it and it's it's cost them in this 30, no run.
Baker at the line and he cannot end that 13 oh run by the Golden Arrows.
At this point.
I'm right Baker's the one who tide it up right?
He made two free throws.
That's right, yeah, once again they were making their free throws.
Now they're going back just making mistakes.
Take care of the basketball, make your free throws.
That's a start.
Are you going to get defensive stop?
All on full court.
Press from Magnet Cove.
And Watson slings it over to Hobbs Hobbs.
Pull up jumper, can't hit offensive rebound for a moment and a good hustle play there from Luke Watson God well pump fake goes up blocked by Baker.
Got to stop?
Get some points.
Look inside the Baker uses that power.
Dribble kicks it to the corner.
Tillery launches cannot hit offensive board bachelor.
Ashcraft jump stop just outside the paint offensive board again.
3 looks at it.
The lid is on the basket.
Magnet Cove is going to have one more chance as the balls out of bounds off the Lavaca don't get frustrated.
You you did everything right except for put the ball in the basket.
Good looks.
You're hustling.
You're getting off into rebounds.
Did everything right in score.
Jacob Clawson we can't find the big man inside and now the swing pass back to Clawson, one on one and it's a charge.
His moments where one side will cheer and one side will move.
They take Baker out believe that's his fourth foul.
It's a momentum changer.
Here's a good look at it.
Happy.
Well, I don't know.
Call that at home.
Walker gets past his two defenders there and I would think Levoca might start to use a little bit of clock here reason to get in a hurry.
I will wide open but he said no don't throw me the ball there.
Here's a better look than an easy look.
Nice cut from Wagner.
Mexico just overextending themselves too much pressure up top and they're leaving the backside wide open.
Boston guarded heavily by Avery Walker.
Gonna have to hurry a bit.
Ashcraft leaves it for the cutter into the hands of Beckwith.
Now out top, Hillary Hillary has just not been able to find it from distance.
He's one of six now.
One for 10 as a team or one for 11 with that miss I was going to say 10%, but now I'm not so sure.
Rounded up to 9%.
See, you've got the quick math.
Either way, it's not good.
They've got to make some threes down the stretch to get back in this.
And a block at the rim, Gladwell is able to recover it for a moment.
Magnet Cove comes up with it.
Ashcraft is fouled.
We're down to 528 to play in the 4th sabaka 38 Magnet Cove 24 only the third team foul on Lavaka, so they're a long way off from the bonus magnet.
Cove won't get any help at the free throw line there as Lavaka is just played disciplined basketball and not fouling.
Second on Wagner.
Tillery, right at the rim.
Good move.
By Owen Tillery now has 9 the locker wanted a foul.
5 minutes to go.
I have to get a stop.
I'm gonna play keep away steel would be even better almost had it.
They found near the three point line against Magnet Cove.
That's their 7th.
It's going to send Avery Walker to the line for a one in one.
Workers he just got tangled up there.
4 Fouls on Beau Bachelor.
So bachelor will come out, Baker returns he has four fouls.
Would be substituting offense for defense right now or defense for offense.
A little bit more quickness on the on the court when they're trying to get a steal.
Front end to the one and one good for Avery Walker.
Only other state championship appearance for Lavacca came back in 1981.
41 years ago about that.
Wide open underneath it's Beckwith with the basket.
Hey Nicole, got out quickly there for those two.
Not out of it yet.
12 point game.
Gotta play almost perfect.
Go from here on out.
Hobbs on the low block.
He has two good job by hogs there.
Hobbs used his lower body to keep Baker off of him to give just enough room to get that shot off.
Three up top.
Missed it short.
Rebound by Walker he wants to run.
Works it over for another land.
This is Wagner scoring again who asked 12 points in the lead goes back out to 44 to 28 less than four to play in the 4th.
Baker is defender falls down, they get all tangled up.
Two on two good handle by Walker, right back underneath the Wagner block.
Wagner gets it back.
And the Golden Arrows will just wait a second.
Basketball hold here.
Hey, time is your friend.
Now let that clock run 331 to play with a break in the action lavaka 44 magnet Coke 28.

So that's coming up here in just a bit.
One hour, one minute, I'll get home and watch it.
331 to play.
Well, that code 45 Magnet Cove 28 has glidewell continues to add to his game high.
That's 19 now.
One of two at the line.
I went Hillary a hard fought game.
He's had nine points for Magnet Cove.
Lawson falls down out of bounds.
No whistle magnet Cove frustrated there was a whistle but ball out of bounds, not the whistle they wanted.
Referee pointing into the.
OK, getting the sweat wiped up the ballboy to come over and help out.
Gotta try to come up with some steals of your magnet Cove or travel there you go there.
You turned it over.
They're not going to quit championship game.
Low minimums are crazy thing in high school sports you make a couple of shots all of a sudden.
Yeah, they were looking for the big hit there.
Owen Tillery could not connect on the three.
Great.
Little bit of trouble there for Luke Watson, but they get it across the half court line less than three to play now.
8 fouls for Magnet Cove, so when they foul again, it'll be a one on one.
Still looking for the steel they come up with it.
Evan Ashcraft, around the back, dribble right to the rim and he's fouled.
One of those you get to steal, you need to.
You need to finish that you gotta, you gotta get that to go so you can get the and one and three points.
But it's just been a tough night for Ashcraft.
But his face says it all.
It's just over 9 now from the field over 5 from the three point line.
It's two for four from the free throw line.
Now two for five.
It's just been a tough night for Ashcraft.
It certainly has.
Baker will go out of the game, there's coach.
Matt Williamson.
And that free throw is good for Baker.
He did tell me that.
No, bachelor had a broken wrist.
The beginning of the year.
One of his other main players had a knee injury, so they just really weren't clicking.
He thought they were clicking here at the end of the year and playing really good.
Basketball was proud of the way his team had battled all season long and that was going to go out of bounds and give it right back to Lavaka.
Well, that's a freshman mistake right there?
You know, Bo is just a freshman, and instead of throwing it the length of the court just dribble it up and make the easy pass.
But they'll learn.
He's getting great experience this year since being brought up in January.
This is a young magnet Cove team.
They've got a chance to be good for the next couple of years.
One senior on this team, and that's Ashcraft, that's bad.
It's sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
What do you do here?
West without a shot clock 2:05 to go, I mean, do you just foul him right away?
Or do you I mean.
It's a 16 point game, but you don't obviously want to let him bounce the ball around for two minutes.
Play good aggressive defense and if you happen to foul by being aggressive, then so be it.
That was a one in one grant them almost came up with a rebound.
He was the only one down there.
Wow, that kind of sums up thing since the third quarter it was a tie game.
I believe it was 2323.
That's right, it's in Magnet Cove scored six points in Levoca.
Levoca scored 22.
Contact in the paint there and Jacob Clawson fouled.
That'll go against every Walker, his fourth personal foul.
Saddleback holding their opponents to 39 points a game.
So that's only the 16th foul, so it doesn't even result in free throws yet.
Yeah, law pass.
Those law plays just aren't working against Levake.
They get too much team speed for that balls in the air that long someone coming from the weak side and they're able to get a hand on it or steal it.
They gotta they.
Magneto got away with it right there and we're going to build the free throw line, but just it hasn't worked.
2000 Gladwell Free throws here for Jace Beckwith.
He has four points in the contest.
If you want ignore it.
One more for Beckwith.
One final day, we're down to four games at the after this one, four tomorrow 3A and 4A.
Can't get the free throw with to get the offensive rebound.
Skip right side 3 from Clawson.
Missed it short and the rebound ends up into the hands of the Golden Arrows.
We're down to 90 seconds to play.
Pull it out.
Very smart.
Those numbers just tell it all.
For Magnet Cove, 29% from the field, 7% from the three point line, and they're shooting 50% from the free throw line.
It's just been a bad shooting night for Magnet Cove, but hey, tip of Captain Levoca, because they're playing some good defense too.
It's not like they're missing wide open shots.
These have been contested shots at Times Now they missed some open shots, but it's been a rough night for Magnet Cove.
The gay thing going offensively, but we knew this about Levaquin.
We knew they played.
Good defense and we're seeing that tonight.
You wouldn't be able to tell Coach Renner read that the score is 4529.
He's still coaching over there on the sidelines.
He had players coming to him, wanted to make sure everything goes right down the stretch here.
116 to play.
Will CJ's Beckwith take a seat for Magnet Cove?
One more free throw for Grantham.
He has three points.
Magnet Cove Clawson.
Almost lost it recovers.
Look inside and the layup is up and in for Kaden Baker and we have a timeout for Matt Williamson and Magnet Cole.
With 107 to go.
Still coaching, that's the thing you've got an opportunity to.
Maybe send a message.
While a lot of these fans are starting to leave and head to the parking lot, he's still coaching because of the youth on this team.
It's a learning experience.
We could try to use this for next time.
I think you said it too.
In our previous game, the fans are still having fun here.
Big student sections from Magnet Cove as you see some of them on TV and well back obviously has a lot more to smile about right now.
It's been another fun day here at Bank Ozk Arena and Lavaca 67 seconds away from claiming the two a title.
They lead 46 to 31.
Make sure you stay tuned.
In the postgame, we'll talk to the MVP and the winning coach as well.
Walker to inbound able to find a Wagner shrug his foot got away with it.
Yeah, Williamson has been calling for that travel.
All game long and he's not really.
Getting the year of the official very often on it.
A timeout taken by Lavacca as they were in jeopardy of losing the possession of 32nd timeout.
6 seconds off the clock we're down to 101.
Both coaches, both teams still playing hard.
We could have.
Then wanna turn it over.
They got time out in their pocket even though they're up by 15 points.
They're still wanting to play clean basketball.
They've done that for the majority of the night.
Only 9 turnovers for Lavaca.
You look over at Magnet Cove.
Side 21 turnovers.
Big difference in the game.
Points off turnovers.
Not as big of a difference.
Only 14 to 9 but still.
You turn the ball over.
You're not gonna get a shot up if you don't get a shot up.
You're not gonna make it.
10 steals for Lavacca big part of the difference.
So the score was tide four times, but it hasn't been tide since it was 23 all.
Now we're inside one minute to play.
Past the half court line is Walker work.
Sit down to grant them.
And we've got a foul.
Glidewell gonna go to the line and magnet coves.
Haven't Ashcraft has just been tied up for pushing after the whistle.
More frustration.
He was going to foul.
But they called the first foul and instead of stopping, he went ahead and fouled again.
He got the tech.
Watch right here.
Bows called push.
Yeah, call it it.
It is Ticky tack, but you don't want anything to get out of hand here.
You know it's a frustration foul there.
Front magnet coach frustrated.
You don't want a push in the back and then all sudden lavocat retaliates.
You're sending a message as an official right there.
We're not going to put up with that.
So glad well to the free throw line he can add to his game high 19 points.
We'll have one more.
Nickelback outscoring Magnet Cove.
Here in the 4th, 12 to 8.
20 points for the 10th grader sophomore well.
So now we have the next two from Avery Walker.
And the front of the RAM and in.
And then they're gonna get the ball back as well so.
Honestly, at this point, that's where we shake hands and play.
Good game, congratulations.
Golden Arrows will inbound 49 to 31.
Gladwell gets it.
And back over to Walker.
See if they fell one more time or not.
Look underneath those shot there.
They're gonna let him dribble it out.
It looks like it's still 30 seconds left.
Hard spot to be in if your magnet Cove you don't want to stop playing, golden Arrows will continue to just work the basketball around.
We're down to 18 seconds and there's a foul ball.
Bachelor will pick up the foul and that's his fifth and he'll be out of the game.
The back of very.
Good.
Running the clock, there are points there.
I saw a lot of very impressive things on that possession.
The way they moved it around, they had a chance to shoot it a couple of times, but just pulled it back on out, ran the clock and well coached team.
Very disciplined team.
Avery Walker gets Slovakia halfway to 100 there 5231.
And one more.
Just about gonna do it 17 seconds to play.
One more shot for Magnet Cove Tillery.
Richard to halfcourt works it over to Ashcraft, who launches he hits.
Of course, Ashcraft is over 904 five from the three point line.
It hits one at the end.
Rose win the two A state championship and they dogpile on the court here at Bank Ozk Arena, 50 to 34.
The final over Magnet Cove.
Always tough to see on the other side for Magnet Cove.
As their year will come to an end at 28 and 9.
Labaca 35 and two.
Still stunning with this game.
Was tide at 40 three 2323.
When you work at the Rodman Levoca went on to close this thing out.
27 to 11 run to finish the game.
I imagine we'll be talking to glidewell 20 points for Colby Glidewell.
Also had four rebounds and.
And assists in 32 minutes of action.
Coming up in a moment in interview with the MVP and also the head coach, but that's next.
Well that girl wins the title in Class 2A.

La Vaca 50 magnet.
Cove 34.
As you see, the Lavaca Golden Arrows get 2.
Celebrate about to hand him the trophy in just a moment.
Magnet Cove has been given their trophy and here comes lavacca to claim and hoist that trophy.
They are the 2A boys state champions.
Great crowd tonight.
The atmosphere was fantastic, arguably the best atmosphere we've had here so far in our first eight games.
These two small schools had huge support.
Course magnet Cove.
Just down the road about 20 miles from here.
20 minutes or so.
The Lavaca you gotta be impressed with the drive and all their fans that came here.
They got their phones out recording the celebration.
Right now it'll be a snowy cold but happy ride back till the vaca tonight.
Just a few of the numbers here.
Glidewell finishes with 20.
Wagner had 12.
And they've just announced.
The tournament MVP there's Colby glidewell going to get his trophy.
He's all smiles.
Yes, he is.
That's us like we said a sophomore.
I was so impressed with his game.
Very mature for sophomore.
His coach will join him for a picture.
Coach Renner, read those two are going to be over here with us courtside in just a moment.
Well, that go shoots 40% for the game they hold their opponent magnet code to 33% shooting.
And here comes coach Reyna Reed.
Winner rejoins us now coach.
Congratulations what's going through your mind right now?
I'm so proud of my guys.
We've been through so much the last couple of years together.
Man, they worked so hard.
You see how we play?
We grind it out.
We're tough and and we stayed the course.
You know throughout the whole season, these guys know how to win, but they know how to win the right way.
You know, we know we're not huge so we have to work extra hard in the weight room we put in so much extra time.
And This is why.
They want to come here.
We have 4 great seniors, just they know how to play the game.
They cherish these moments and I'm so proud of him.
Man this is awesome and we dream of this moment.
We do the defense coach you've been holding opponents to 39 points and in a state championship game you hold your opponent to 34.
Talk about your defense that so we have to use.
I mean 575, ten, five, 11511 and 6/2 our starters.
We're not going to have shootouts with the team, that's that much bigger than us.
We just can't do.
We can't rebound.
We pressure the ball.
That takes so much guts to get out there more athletic guys and we did it through the course of their career.
So this is just the icing we've played like this all year though, this is who we are and I'm glad we did it on a big stage so everybody could see you talking about a big stage because you guys have been number one and people expected you to win this game in Magnet Cove got hot and kind of made him run through the tournament.
So you were supposed to win this game.
What about the pressure?
How did you guys we feel like we're supposed to be everybody?
You know we want to be state champions and when we do something like that.
And play a bigger team like we have to step up every day.
Is a battle like hey buddy, thank you every day is a battle with us.
Even in practice we have the best practices that I've ever had.
It all accumulates to us getting here at this moment.
I know you've already mentioned your seniors, but one more time 87 wins.
Now for your senior class.
That's phenomenal coach, they're great kids.
I mean phenomenal, but I've never had one problem whatsoever.
You know they never missed a practice.
They never been late.
They make good grades, man, I'm glad I said this.
Four men are God blessed.
I thank God that I'm at Lavaca coaching.
Guys like this, they deserve it.
They make my job so easy.
They deserve it.
Coach congratulations.
Thank you for your time.
Great job.
We got Colby Gladwell over there.
He's a hug.
Getting hugs from friends and family and we're going to bring in the state tournament.
MVP Coach is trying to make his way over to radio right now.
We got a lot of hugs and happy moms and dads and friends.
Colby, congratulations.
He got the state tournament MVP and you got a state championship.
How does it feel right now?
I don't know how to feel man, I really don't.
I mean, I'm overwhelmed.
I don't.
I mean, we put in tons of time every single day, every single morning, every single evening just for this.
And I couldn't be any more proud of my team.
You know, we did what it took to win.
Coach said that these seniors never miss a practice you're never late.
You make good grades.
87 wins in your career.
All of that adds up from the classroom out onto the court so.
What does this mean for you and your seniors?
It means everything to us.
I mean, we've been putting in work since we're in the 7th grade with Coach Reid.
And this.
This means everything to us.
You guys weren't the biggest team out there.
No, we never unless they were a lot bigger than you guys, but just the deepest that tenacity what it takes the guts to play.
That kind of defense trip after trip down the floor basically well.
It takes it takes offense to us when someone scores on us.
You know, we don't like that.
I mean, we don't like people pushing us around.
We get in the weight room all offseason just for this.
So I mean.
We could score.
Two points, a game if they have zero, we're fine with the win.
See that's what I said.
We're finding close game, Yep, but who was the last hug from over there?
I thought so as my mom.
I love my dad.
Go celebrate with her.
Congratulations that was awesome, congratulations.
There you go, state champs Lavacca getting it done.
50 to 34 had to give him a chance to give a shout out to mom, right?
50 to 34.
Our final score.
Let's look at those final numbers, 40% shooting for Lavaca, and you know they didn't need the three ball.
They made enough shots as as you just heard from Gladwell there, they're they're fine.
Winning the game two to nothing if they have to.
But the defense.
They forced 21 turnovers, and that was really the big key in this one today.
And they did just enough on the glass.
Did not allow magnet code just to dominate the the offensive glass or the boards the entire night, but you have to be impressed with their defense.
It may have not been the pleasantly to watch offensively, but defensively it was really good.
So looking over a few of these final numbers here again for the MVP, he had 20 points and Colby glidewell.
What a great interview that he was.
Four seniors on this team for Lavaca 87 wins.
They earned it and they deserve it here today with a huge victory in the state Championship 1981.
It's been a long time.
You can forget about 1981.
I always remember 1981 but you got a new number now.
Yeah absolutely.
And you know the players.
They don't think about that they don't know about that history.
They've just started a new history.
For the Lavaca Golden Arrows, well thank you so much for being with us as it's been another fun day and this final score 50 to 34 Lavacca defeats Magnet Cove.
For Westmore, I'm Michael Westbrook, and our entire Arkansas PBS crew.
