Welcome into the four, a state softball championship game here at the Benton Athletic Complex.
They're outside Derek Walters High, Bobby Swafford, and Derek.
This is a match up.
That's what most people.
Inspected all season long.
These two teams have been hot all year.
50 combined.
Wins between Valley View and Nashville.
Now they are two great teams.
We were down on the field earlier watching them warm up at pitch.
Well they hit well.
Like you said it's a hot day and they're both ready to go.
Yeah the wind is blowing a little right to left but it's all about the pitching in this matchup and these two teams they don't hide it's they've got one pitcher.
They've got one ace and they're gonna stick to their guns and stick with their player.
One thing we've noticed, a bunch of fans here.
Valley View travels well.
Nashville is here and loud.
Should be a great environment.
Before the game talked to a lot of the national players, they said they're extra players, their fans, they're loud.
Cheer them on, and every player I talked to said they're one of the reasons they are here.
It's almost 90 degrees here, but almost 100 on the playing surface, which is an artificial surface here in Benton, and these fans were out here 2 hours before first pitch.
So that tells you the kind of fan support that Nashville is getting, and they're going to need to support their starting ace Macy Mcjunkin.
She's the reason that Nashville is 26 and four.
That's exactly right.
She is 22 and three on the year.
246 strikeouts, she's only walked 17 batters all year.
She has great control, great stamina.
She relies they rely on her to throw strikes.
Played good defense behind her, she throws a fastball, drop ball, rice ball, change up, and a curve from every once in a while.
She is playing pitcher at SAU next year so she is committed to SMU.
Yeah, Valley View is going to counter with their ace.
Of course.
We'll see here in the bottom half of the inning that Riley Smith.
She does it all in the sense of the only player with any kind of pitching stats.
Valley View that's right.
She's 27 and 472 innings pitched.
She's giving up 100 hits, 41 runs, walked 19 of the ERA of 1.01.
As we take a look there as you see, the battery makes for Nashville.
That's a good look at Macy Mcjunkins, the senior at.
.131 on base average against and an ERA of less than one boderick.
You mentioned the strikeout to walk ratio 246 strikeouts to 17 base on balls this year.
Valley View is gonna have to earn it.
She's really good.
I talked to her before the game.
She's been playing softball since she was four years old.
She said this will cap off her career so far.
Her dad coached her starting at 4 and she said she is excited to get to get to hopefully win the state championship for Nashville today.
Where is arriba gonna leap things off for the Valley View batting lineup #8 she's gonna lead things off.
There's a good look at Izzy and see what the they Valley View can get.
Things going to start.
Things here in the top of the first of the four A state championship game and On Base percentage of 500 for Reba and a batting average of 360.
So there's a reason she's at the top of the line that you see the entire line up there for the Lady Blazers Lexie Davis and a weak field.
Amara Wright.
Carolon prestige Sophie Newberry, Grace Butler and Lauren Mitchell is the starting 9.
And we are sets for four a softball.
First pitch just off the edge of the plates as we are underway in the title game.
It is warm.
And already the rosin bag coming out from the Nashville dugout has been junk, and this has to retrieve that our first game of the day.
You could tell it was really cool when we started in the Taylor Westside game.
As we got on that last inning.
I think that picture used a bag about every pitch she was reaching back there.
That one just a touch eye, so Reba gets ahead in the Count 20.
Mention the numbers from a junk and she doesn't issue many free passes.
Makes teams work for 17 base on balls.
That one misses high.
Maybe some nerves early on.
Of course, these two teams haven't been in the championship game.
Nashville has not won a championship since back in 2013.
Valley View looking for their first ever state softball championship.
And a four pitch walk to start things off the perfect way to begin the contest.
If you're Valley View, you know, looking at this Nashville team struggled early in the semis against Moralton.
Got down five runs in the first inning.
Regular rally back over the course of the game and win so they they looted the weakness there in that in that semifinal game got behind early, but we're able to come back, so we'll see if they're able to hopefully get it out here with a runner on.
Lays down the bunt, tries to give it up in the sacrifice with that one goes foul.
You mentioned the the road to the finals here in Nashville.
Went through molten and Stuttgart.
Beat molten 16 to 6 and attend nothing.
Victory over Stuttgart.
Asked for Valley View.
They beat Malvern 11 to one and Harrison 11 to 3 so Valley View be able to put up some runs again.
Tries to *** **** down the ****.
Doesn't McKenzie Whitlock but she misses that offering and she's quickly behind in the count.
Owen too comes in the game batting.
420 with three home runs.
And 34 games played that went up and out of the zone trying to get her to chase.
His team is a threat to steal his Valley View 85 stolen bases in their 29 contests.
That one flared up behind us.
We'll do it again.
A little bit of breeze.
12 miles an hour blowing right to left so the right foul pole to the left.
Foul pole.
So if you get it up in the jet stream out to left, it's gonna help you.
Ground ball should be 2 steps on the back.
For one the relay throw, not in time.
A nice job there by Jasmine Wakefield to field it cleanly and throw the first just a touch late with let's get the force out.
You're right, Bobby.
Great pay but play by the short shop Wakefield.
Get the lead runner.
You got two outs.
Keep the runner out of scoring position and and now you'll go and try to get the third out here to end the inning.
Great job there.
Past ball there first pitched to Davis isn't allowing runner to move up.
Lexi Davis and the three hole we talked about this in the first game.
One thing Nashville needs to do is keep running runners of scoring position don't have an air like that.
A pass ball keep the ball in front of you.
Keep them off the base path.
I want to college strikes in there, Davis among the team leaders in batting average and on base percentage hitting 440 on the season 45 RBI's which is the team high and seven home runs.
Also most on the Lady Blazer squad that one called strike two on the outside portion.
It's a good pitch just caught the outside corner if you're you're Valley View right there, Lexie Davis.
Hard to really do anything with that pitch.
Unfortunately it's just.
On the 1/2 runner on second base swinging a miss.
Davis goes down, swinging a big strikeout for the second out of the inning.
And now Macy Mcjunkins has a chance to get out of the jam.
Great job.
By Mick Jenkins there to obviously get Runner on there one out.
And everyone now get two out.
Strike someone out.
Hopefully in the inning.
All the Winfield now steps in, runner on 2nd, 2 down.
Flare left side gonna be caught in foul territory.
Harley Hills there to make the play and that'll do it for the inning.
No runs, no hits no errors.
1 runner left on base after half an inning and that will be nothing.

Watch the championship games at youtube.com/arkansas PBS Nashville coming up to bat for the first time, so let's take a look at the scrap rates lineup.
Ashley Chamber is going to lead things off Madison Steel Ellington.
Spinner Emma Hutchinson going to be one through four in the lineup.
Macy Mcjunkins, Jasmine Wakefield, Ava reader, Emily Bailey and Harley Hill.
The starting nine into the lineup for Nashville and our first look at the scrap Paredes.
Defence 26 and four on the season and Ashley Chamber is gonna step in 1st 361 average on the season scored 39 runs this year, so she's certainly going to set the table.
The first pitch right across the heart of the plates for strike one.
Like we said earlier, Riley Smith comes in pitching 172 innings, 27 and 4 record.
You look 41 runs with ERA of 1.01 strikeouts.
Are the name of the game for her?
Is that one fouled out of play to the right side?
248 strikeouts for Riley Smith in just 172 innings of work.
I'm not a math guy, but I know that's more than one about 1 1/2 strikeouts per inning.
She didn't trust the defense too much.
You can, but prefers to get done herself.
Chambers down O2 does just get a touch of that one's going to be a tough play.
Play it first.
Ball tips off the first baseman glove goes into right field.
Well, we'll have to see if that and that's a rule that infield hit or an air.
Either way, Ashley Chambers is on 1st to lead off the bottom half of the inning.
It's a great play by the right fielder to be in back up position to keep that runner at first base.
She was right in position and and like we talked about earlier, you want to keep runners out of scoring position so a great job by the right.
Over there to back that throw up yeah good great job I read, but that one's actually ruled an infield single.
So we have our first hit of the contest.
And we talked a little bit about Riley Smith.
There's a great off speed pitch.
She had her, they just weren't able to throw up with you out.
Yeah, slowed down the bat just but it got just enough.
Did Chambers to put that one in play.
Let's take a look at our umpiring crew today behind the plate Jeff Boone down the first baseline is going to be David Martin and on the third base side Jimmy Sharp.
One older Madison Steele.
She tries to get a bunt down that one fouled off to the right side.
One thing that we know about Riley Smith and have seen so far.
She consistently throws strikes.
She attacks the strike zone over and over again.
Doesn't throw a lot of balls, and that's obvious.
I was with the 19 walks and 248 strikeouts on the year.
The senior outfielder steel hitting 356 this year, 10s double s. That's fifth best on the team.
They're turned to butts that one can't be handled by the catcher rule to strike, but that's ball gets away from the backstop Davis and that allows the runner chambers to advance into scoring position.
The catcher there kind of did a double clutch on the throw was a great throw as we watched the replay here.
You see that double clutch and then she goes.
And that would likely rule to pass ball just didn't handle the the delivery from her pitcher, and so once you count now on steel, we'll see if she sticks with the banner, pulls them back and tries to put one in play.
She does just that, that one found over the first base dugout.
We'll do it again.
I think with no outs here, she'll probably like you said swing away.
Try to get a base hit, maybe slap one into right field, score the run from second here, give the Scrappers A1 nothing lead here, hopefully with no outs.
Smith gets her signal that one back up the middle off the shortstop love ticks in the right field.
That's gonna be games.
First tally and an RBI single his Nashville, the early one.
Nothing lead Nashville ever to score on two mistakes by Valley View so far this inning big mistakes for Valley View you can in a state championship game give up small things like that that that obviously score run here.
So disappointing for Valley View.
Great first run for the scrapping.
Yeah, Nashville takes advantage of what the defense is going to give them there, and Valley View is gonna have a meeting of the minds to try to settle things down.
You've gotta a single a pass ball, a single and that one ticks in the right field because of an air allows the run to score.
So Derek, what are you telling your team right here to settle down to?
Obviously it's the first inning, but you got it.
Rest of the nerves calm down.
It's one nothing.
We got no outs.
Let's just attack the strike zone.
Let's go after this batter get an out and we'll get the next out.
Don't try to get 3 outs at one time you can't do it just settle down we're still in the game nothing's wrong.
I do know though Valley View was concerned about the fans.
Run right down, they are.
They're they're getting rowdy around here and so you need to get a quick out here.
Hopefully like we've talked about Riley Smith throws strikes.
Just get in there.
Throw a strike here, get a ground ball out, pop out and and hopefully.
Move the city forward.
Yep, spigner steps into play now third hitter of the contest, Ellen Spigner senior hitting 356 on the season.
s driven in 36.
She comes up hacking first pitch flies over the first base.
Dugout steel is very quick at second too, so any base hit in the outfield.
I think she could definitely score from second.
You can see the numbers for the top half of the lineup for for Nashville they can put runs across scored 300 and five runs on the season.
That one fouled off in the box off of their own foots.
Now she's down O2.
Luckily, she's got that guard on there.
That's never fun off the right off the inside of the ankle that she's done it before.
That's why you wear that guard try.
02 pitch and that one left high and you can just hear it to this Nashville crowd is just living and breathing with every pitch and the good news for Riley Smith, you're heading the Count right?
You can throw something off off the plate right now.
Make her hopefully make her chase.
Just settle in there and make the next pitch.
It's tough not to be aggressive of a pitcher, but sometimes you have to leave the zone.
Try to get you to chase.
That one will outside it's deflected up back into the netting.
Do the one two pitch one more time.
Starting lineup for Nashville hitting 371 as an average.
Bring back by put back.
That one roped in the left field but right after the defender perfect alignment there.
By Lauren Mitchell, she makes the play a loud first out.
In this first inning, if you're Valley View, it's gotta feel good to get your first out.
Warren Mitchell settles under the pop up, plays it perfectly, gets it in, so the runner doesn't go to 3rd and they've got their first out.
I did some scouting there, I didn't even have to move it on the right to the left fielder.
So that's gonna bring up Emma Hutchinson.
And the cleanup hitter.
That one taking just the touch eye hitting 500.
That's all that it's a limited sample size.
766 triples, 2 homers but hitting 35 RBI's that is what a cleanup hitter is supposed to do.
Those numbers are impressive.
That's exactly right.
She's got a runner in scoring position.
Hopefully she can head to her RBI total.
I don't care what level you're playing or how many games you've played, you're hitting 500.
That's pretty pretty impressive, yeah, and it's not too strange, right?
I mean, it's still.
I don't know how many at bats that is, but.
It's enough, it's a good sample size.
Yeah, 15 extra base hits 35 RBI's sample size big enough.
I want fouled away to the right side.
Evens the count one on one.
We conceded Samantha's attacking the zone.
She's not backing down from these national hitters.
Scrap risk been able to put on just enough pressure.
Got a single course.
The air resulted in the run.
Vallivue runners up in 2017.
That's when they were in the 5A classification.
That one just got a piece of did.
Hutchinson fouled straight back.
Talked to coach before the game.
He said we just expect to be here every year.
We just try.
Obviously it's every every team's goal at the end of the years to make the state championship, but every year Valley View has good good softball and and this year they just the good pitcher like Riley Smith.
He said we were able to make it to Benton.
One and two count on Hutchinson.
Did she go around?
Learn to say she held up even the count at 2 apiece, and he mentioned expecting to win?
Of course, Nashville does the exact same thing, and pretty much every sport across the board.
They were able to win the basketball championship and coach.
BJ Zipfel wants an explanation of why they didn't at least appeal that call.
He's just asking for a little help.
And he had a good angle at it and that's it.
He's frustrated.
He's in the first base dugout, and unfortunately with only two field umpires, the first base umpires over at 2nd right now, I think he's frustrated, though, because he didn't ask for an appeal, and I know he probably wouldn't have seen much behind second base, but.
So code zipfiles conversation with Jeff Boone, the home plate umpire brief 1.
And that's a big pitch.
It's too just that would have been strike three and and he would have two outs.
And it's been hard right now for Valley View to get out of this inning.
Well, especially when you've got a player.
The quality of Hutchinson.
If she gives you, strike three on the check swing you wanna take it?
So new life, Hutchinson sends a ground ball to 2nd easy play there made by Whitlock and doesn't move the runner up to 3rd, so call that 43 and your scorebooks.
I know you're scoring at home now.
Runner on 3rd.
I will say going back to that play real quick.
It is hard for an empire to watch that pitch and in the back and you want them to watch the pitch because he's supposed to have help both lines.
So that's a hard that is a hard pitch to call there.
So may seem a junction steps in.
The Nashville pitcher I want to sound.
Off to the right side, mcjunkin steps in.
Bobby, have you noticed there's only one player batting under 200 and this lineup for Nashville 379 is mcjunkins 11 double s 2 triples, 5 homers driven in 36.
Talked to coach Boomer Brown before the game and he said, I honestly feel like one through nine.
We can get a hit, he said.
You're not going to walk around it.
You're not going to pitch around anybody.
We can hit the ball one through nine.
We saw Coach Boomer Brown there in the third base box.
You can't miss him.
He's the one wearing the orange long sleeves when his 90 degrees on the turf.
He was at parking car.
That one O 2 pitch misses high runs the count to one and two on mcjunkins.
You know you think about it, it's pretty unique color.
There aren't tons of orange school now and Arkansas yeah, and the majority of them that who are orange are in class 4A.
You got Warren, you've got grab it.
One of two count found off to the right side that one gets out of play.
I mean, we could go down this rabbit hole Little Rock halls got orange, but we don't need less every school there.
But you're exactly right.
Orange is a very rare color and you're a mascot guy.
I don't think we have any other scrap.
The Scrappers are one of a kind.
There are not many standoff mascots and logos in the country with the Scrappers are certainly one.
I went to a high school that was one in black, but that was in a different state so we won't talk about it doesn't count.
The ground ball is shorts.
The play for Wakefield, the throws there in time a big third out as Riley Smith and this Lady Blazers defense gets out of the inning, but not before Nashville gets on the board.
One round one hit one air, one left.
We were through one and Nashville leads it.
1 nothing.

You have to get all the numbers during the live game.
Bobby, that's what I watched during the games.
Live stats and hopefully you at home can watch them too and find so much more information in the box store.
Even the casual fan can pretty much decipher how the game went by just watching the stats.
So you can do it along with us top of the second Valley View.
It's really Nashville when nothing as Amiright takes strike one over the inside portion of the plates.
And there are 370 on the season On Base Percentage of over 530.
That one swing man took a little off did Mcjunkins pulled the string with the change up.
We talked about her pitches earlier, fastball drop, ball rise ball change up.
She said everyone so well should throw a curve in there.
I went two counts swinging a miss, three straight pitches, three straight strikes, impressive start to the 2nd frame from a junkins.
Great flu strikes there for him that makes you mcjunkins get the first out of the inning.
That one off the plates you got right to chase it.
Our second strikeout of the contest, Caroline Prestige steps in.
Now you see the late movement there, that's great camera work there you can just see the late movements and that one tailing.
Inside on the right-handed hitter, there's nothing Caroline could do with it.
Steve hitting 250 That one driven down the left field line but hooking foul and third base dugouts in the way.
I'm asking to move it back.
But apparently it's you know in the grounds I can't do that.
They'll work on it for next year for Bobby.
Again, Mcjunkin gets ahead in the count.
I like the aggressiveness though of prestige.
You're facing the pitcher who's no throwing nothing but strikes.
So I know attack early.
That went well, short bounces in front of the plate stopped by Emily Bailey behind the dish.
Kelong 22 hits.
On the season.
Alright, the line drive right at Holly Hill, the third baseman and she snacks it for the second ounce.
Great play by Hill right off the bat saw it struck her glove up and made the catch phrase number two.
They called the hot corner for a reason.
Based off the map by prestige, but hell able to reach above her head make the catch.
Second, out of the inning brings up Sophie Newberry.
There it ticks that one high.
300 even average for Newberry.
13 RBI's this year, six extra base hits.
Now, when Mrs just outside as well, so Newberry ahead in the Count 20.
Just one thing, Valley View's done is is jumped on.
Some early pitches got ahead in the count.
It's a good job.
Here to get ahead two in one.
Yeah, laying the foundation you may not be able to push across a few runs the first time through the lineup, but you see a number of pitches.
Put a little pressure on the pitching staff and the defense hopes to break through your second time around in our tailor Westside game earlier.
Wait for this pitch, I went outside.
Close game for the first three or four innings, and it seems like the more at bats, the more time they got to see the picture they started to take advantage of it, so be interesting to see in this game which team starts to take advantage after they've seen the picture a few times that one laced into left field and that one down for a hit.
Newberry makes a big turn.
She's in standing up on second base with the double and now Valley View's got a little 2 hour rally going great, two out double for Newberry hitting left field right down the line and now Valley View has a runner in scoring position.
That's a great look at it there barrel on the ball just hooks that one down the left field line.
You see the umpire signal that one was well within the line and Newberry bottom third of the order trying to get value on the board.
Grace Butler's gonna step in now.
The Butler hitting 340 on the season.
That's big if you can get production from your 789 hitters, maybe Valley View can get a type of game here.
789 will be huge with two outs.
Butler has just six RBI's and what an opportune time to add #7 here in the four A state championship game.
That one just off the outside edge of the plate, even just counted one on one.
Great take by Butler.
There don't swing at any garbage.
Take your time, stay patient, wait for your pitch.
They're in its third.
We'll check swing that one, the flared over the shortstop head gets down.
They're going to send the runner home.
Gonna be at the play at the plate throw is cut off and Valley View has battled back and tied this game at one like we talked about Grace Butler 8 hole hitter.
Nice flare in the left field ties the game like the aggressive base running coach senator from the beginning.
You gotta send them.
You got to get tied 2 hours.
I don't hit her up.
Send her wooden close yeah little excuse me check swing by Butler but got just over the head of the shortstop.
You saw with the the ball landed there.
Newberry was taking off on contact.
She knew there was two outs and she was off on first contact and scores easily.
And as that pitch is over, first strike against Lauren Mitchell, we saw earlier today great base running.
It seemed the team that had their head in the game that we're always prepared.
You know, always making the other team think or we stealing or not stealing.
There's a huge advantage later in the game.
Mitchell fouls that one off to the right side, so she's quickly in the whole all two 270 hitter is Lauren Mitchell.
Ten RBI's six triples on the season.
That's most on the team.
I love to use battle to tie it.
Can't they take a lead that one popped up left side?
Gonna be a tough play and that one lands in the netting over by the Nashville dugout.
Harley Hill gave Chase but couldn't get there in time.
Hill's third Campbell at first are playing even with the bad defensively.
That one popped up right side, going right to the spec.
Second baseman spinner.
She makes the catch and the inning is over, but not before Valley View pushes one across thanks to the RBI single from Sophie Newberry.
After one and a half we are tied at one as you're watching the Centennial Bank State Softball championship on Arkansas PBS Sports.

Great photos and they and they, you know, give those up for for free.
So it's a great Nashville coming up bottom of the second inning.
This one tied at a running piece 678 in the lineup.
Jas been a Wakefield.
Swings and misses that strike one.
How big was that?
Run there for Riley Smith, right?
We had a mound visit in the first inning.
Calm everybody down.
She's able to come back with a brand new ball game.
Tied one to one just mentally.
And you mentioned the Nashville crowd.
How much of an impact?
You could have on the contest just to get to kind of even things up early in this contest, as that one flared down the left field line and foul just just that momentum.
The confidence of of tying the of the of the game up.
It's just it's just huge, some great two out hitting two.
Yeah, we did a lot of that with two outs there and the top half of the 2nd.
So Wakefield hits 406 on the season, 11 double s, 29 RBI scored a team high 43 runs.
Alan also found all the way on the left side, Samantha attacking the zone like we talked about throwing strikes.
Great job battling right now for Wakefield.
Just keeps fouling off.
Staying in there.
Just live to see another pitch.
That's the idea.
You gotta shorten #2 strikes.
You can see you choke up on the bat just in touch that one shipped to 3rd going to be a tough play for Steve and I strong through and guns down the runner.
What a nice play.
By Carolyn.
Prestige at 3rd for the first out of the inning.
First inning.
Saw a couple layers like that that didn't.
She's able to clean it, field it cleanly and throw it over the 1st for out number one.
A nice strong throw there for prestige.
So last season, third have a reader steps in.
Now more is number 16407 batting average on the season 10 double s, 31 RBI's on the season.
Neither takes ball one.
Again, the battery for Valley View Rice missing the circle, Lexi Davis behind the plates.
One old pitch is fouled straight back.
The reader was trying to check her swing there.
Couldn't quite commit to it.
Nashville very senior heavy.
This team has seven seniors starting today.
Eva being one of those.
One ball, one strike, one out.
Look a little off there.
Did Riley Smith reader just did what she could to poke that one down the left field line foul.
Corners are in for the Valley View defense.
Householders playing pretty shallow for reader.
That one swung his left the zone there up and away.
Did Riley Smith got reader to chase it, so that's her first strike out of the contest.
Fastball by Smith there she went high, caught her swinging for out #2 Valley View a lot more efficient this evening.
Working very quickly with two outs mentioned how often she attacks the zone and that's a look at the foul ball and the previous play, but that's how I'm Riley Smith goes up and out of the zone with your chase even farther out.
Got the punch out.
So true down now for Emily Bailey.
Bailey takes 1 right across the middle of the plates.
Top half of the zone if you will.
Now if you one for seven excuse me, Nashville one for seven.
So far any 143 as a team.
From 371 on the season coming into it, that one on the inside corner called strike two, so Bailey has watched 2GO by that's to be a little more aggressive.
Now we'll Emily 429 is the bottom half of the order for Nashville.
It's amazing.
4/29/13 double s four home runs, that second most on the scrap rents roster.
That one outside one and two way to work the zone.
We've seen two strikes from Riley, the one up and away there trying to see if she'd go fish forward and she didn't grade out there.
For Bailey Riley Smith trying to sit down Nashville in order that one lined down the First off the first baseman's glove, but they rallied back.
Nice job by McKenzie Whitlock to back up the play.
Flips it over the new Barry and that's the third out of the inning, so call that one a 343 put out in the inning is over.
11 after two, you're watching the Centennial Bank Softball Championship on Arkansas PBS sports.
This month in passport on the PBS video app.

You know, because of the third floor valley.
Beautiful day here in Benton.
Beautiful complex baseball, softball and soccer all going on this weekend.
We've got baseball to our left.
I'm sorry.
Soccer to our left to the football stadium baseball behind us all connects makes for a great atmosphere for state championships.
Back to the top of the line for Valley View is Izzy.
Riva takes a called strike.
She walked to lead off the contest but was forced out at second base.
There's a good look at the crowd there.
There's nobody left in Nashville.
Liver can't slow down the bad enough for that.
When the change up folder Owen two in the counts.
Nashville also state girls basketball champions.
This year we got to see that in March I talked to finish playing real quick strike.
Three good morning, good afternoon, good nights, 3 pitches and the ribbon is set down.
Talk to coach.
There is not one player that plays on the softball team and the girls basketball team.
It's wild.
Many athletes are in there.
They're playing two state championships.
Of course, they knocked off Farmington before a girl's championship.
Now they're trying to take down Valley View and the softball title McKinsey Whitlock takes strike one.
There's whitlocks.
How's that one straight back and we are wasting no time as Mason Mcjunkins Junkins has been very efficient now I think 2 out of the three innings that she's pitched, she's just strike strike, strike out, out, out.
Five pitches of this inning 5 strikes so she can go 6 for six here.
That one slurred to the left side.
Nice throw there by the 3rd baseman.
The hill guns down.
6 strikes, 2 outs Dr Mcjunkins before the game.
She said I trust my defense and right there you can see why.
Great play by the 3rd baseman Hill and a great stretch by Campbell at first base as we watched the replay here.
Stretches goes low, makes the catch for out #2 been really impressed so far by the play of Harley Hill at third.
She kind of liner kind of pop up.
Now gunned down a runner at first.
Two down now for Lexi Davis, she steps in.
I think the first inning for Mcjunkins was at 6 pitches.
I think she had is what we heard.
I mean she is very efficient today.
Lexi Davis again hitting 440 on the season, swinging man.
She struck out in the first and now on the brink of doing so again here in the third.
You can see that the the nerves have certainly left Mcjunkins and she is just attacking the zone.
That one lines between the gap and the right and center and Davis is gonna have herself a double.
We'll see if she makes the wide turn and she's coming for three.
The relay throw gonna be there but not in time.
A triple for Lexi Davis.
Great job by the outfielders chase after the ball and get it in quickly, but great base.
Running by Lexi Davis.
Fast efficient.
Like you said, she turned second turned for second.
She knew she was going to 3rd a great triple with two outs and we'll just see now if if.
Valley View and Winkfield can get an RBI and get Valley View their first lead of the game on a Wingfield steps.
In now, she calls her time and that triple by Davis was certainly aided by the playing surface that that that hit the grass.
The artificial turf in the outfield and just shot all the way to the wall.
Link fields big swing and miss there.
The change up had her way out in front.
If you've never been on turf, ever played on turf, you don't know, but it is very fast.
That ball just ricocheted off like you said.
And if you're not on top of that, and you're not running towards that ball, it can get behind you real quick.
You've got to adjust your angles and what you attack the ball rolling across the grass, and there's a good look at it.
May look like dirt.
It's not, it is turf from the backstop to the outfield wall.
Linkfield little flare over the shortstop head.
It gets down and valley views gotta lead.
Just what we talked about, Winfield.
Nice blueprint in the shallow left center field gives Valley View their first lead.
How big Lexi Davis's triple was.
Though all this solemn play a sharp hit line drive to left side for the right side of the infield all the way to the outfield.
She now gives Valley View their first lead of the game.
She ropes the triple into the gap, but now twice we've seen Valley View with a little blooper over the shortstops head that's produced.
The two runs for the Lady Blazers you know in the first inning we saw Riley.
Little Russell had to calm everything down.
Macy Mcjunkins working very efficiently here to start the inning had a little hiccup.
Now with that triple, we'll see if she can get out with out of the inning.
Fouls that one back and she's quickly in the hole one too and we we've said that quite a few times.
Derek now both of these pitchers have worked for him ahead in the count.
The majority of the time, but you gotta be able to finish it off these two.
At least two pitchers have relied on the strike out all season and these two lineups not going down quietly.
Liner right towards the second baseman Spigner and she makes the play and that'll do it for the inning, but not before Valley View strikes back for the second straight frame.
They pushed one across and the Lady Blazers take a 2 to one lead headed to the bottom half of the 3rd.
As you're watching the Centennial Bank State Softball championship on Arkansas PBS sports.
Sports is is so important to this state and the fabric of the state, and I appreciate our Kansas PBS doing all the state title games and that makes it available for not just the fans in Central Arkansas, South Arkansas, but fans around the entire state.
I can only think of the kids in small towns and this is the biggest moment.
Maybe in their sports careers and they have that keepsake of having that game on TV to have with them the rest of their lives.
Thanks George, appreciate it.

Every year we recognize outstanding Arkansas student athletes who've made a mark in the classroom as well as on the field in the four.
A classification, we're spotlighting Megan Woodmansee from Gravette High School.
She's a left field senior at grade point average of 3.62.
She plans to go to NY, Act to become a certified at a retail analyst program to.
Congratulations to Megan for outstanding career on the field and in the classroom as your GPA 3.62 or higher in high school it was.
But then again, it was, you know, my high school wasn't exactly the most difficult.
I think tredman.
They they are.
First pitch of the inning world high.
It's Harley Hill steps in for our first advance.
We've talked about both these pictures, Mcjunkins and Smith, how efficient they are, how they attacked the strike zone, something I think.
Both of them though could probably work on is is is like we talked said attacking outside of the zone, making him swing and miss.
Now she's behind two and now.
But how do I make a pit?
You know?
How do I make a hitter know that, hey, this might not be a strike that I can swing at?
Yeah, that's all.
It's almost an A disadvantage that you're so you're so accurate off the mound.
You like to attack the strike zone, but gotta keep the hitters guessing that one splits the plate.
Hill was taking all the way.
She's still ahead in the count two and one.
It's a good pitch.
Got knee high like you said though, I think Hill was talking the whole time.
Harley Hill.
Just a freshman hitting 324 on the season.
Eight RBI's.
Swings through that one and nice job by the Valley View pitcher Riley Smith.
The battle back and evens the count of two.
6 seniors starting for Nashville today.
Like you said, 1 freshman Hill who's up now the third baseman.
Hill swings right through that one, so after being ahead in the Count 203, straight strikes from Smith concert to go down second straight out of the contest for Smith.
That's going to flip the lineup over for Nashville and the leadoff hitter Ashley Chambers going to step in.
Chambers got things started for Nashville in that first inning with a single.
See if she can get another hit here and.
Get something started for the scrappers.
Maybe tie the game here in the bottom half of the third inning.
Chambers grounds out to 2nd easy play there for Whitlock, flip over to first one pitch.
Only advanced second out of the inning.
We talk about the the first inning fluster for for Valley View.
Well, they've been really good in the field since after those first few years.
That cost them up run.
They have really tightened up and they're playing really good defense.
Behind Riley Smith, it's just playing on this stage is is nerve wracking and if you've never played in the state championship game you really don't understand just the the field.
The buzz around the ballpark is completely different than anything you've played in before.
To your point, and I know we both.
What's the Arkansas Activity Association, something that I always say we state championships.
It's the biggest game that these student athletes will probably ever play in most of them.
And so it's it's.
That's why we do TV's right to make this a big deal for them because it is.
It's a huge stage.
They're playing on steel grounds.
One the shorts Winfield with the flip and A123 inning and eight straight have been retired now by Riley Smith.
The Valley View pitcher settling in.
We are through three complete.
The Lady Blazers lead it to one.

Let me take you for a ride on the baseline.
Is Caroline press.
It's primary time in Arkansas and Arkansas.
PBS provides election coverage you can trust.
TuneIn for live primary results and analysis Tuesday, May 24th, beginning at 7:00 PM.
I think the last day to vote Bobby is Tuesday.
I believe Caroline Preston steps in.
She lined out to short her first time up.
That wouldn't taken just low and she gets ahead in the count.
2 to ones are score.
We have entered the middle innings here in the four.
A state softball championship game.
That one popped up on the right side, spigner, the second baseman.
Camps under it makes the easy play.
We talked about biology getting flustered last inning.
Kind of happened in Nashville.
There gave up a run with two hours.
Had a really good two efficient 1-2 outs and then the third one just could not get valued.
You had some great hits, a triple, an RBI.
See if this evening.
Maybe they can go 123 and get back their baths and see if they can't tie this game up.
Sophie Newberry steps in she doubled her first time up and Junkins misses outside with that first pitch.
That was actually they called a strike on the outside.
Corner.
Delayed call or I just jumped the gun.
One of the other both well and we're talking about that the other day.
The delayed call.
It'll get me crazy if if you do.
If you're used to watching baseball, then all of a sudden you watch softball.
The the ball strike call is much more delayed.
And we were talking to Don Rodeo the other day and I said, why do they do that?
He goes.
That's why they're trained.
And that's I don't know what your softball thing or what.
But yeah, it's like a 3 second, you gotta, you gotta finish strong.
You get the call swinging to miss there evens the count two and two mcjunkins blew that one right there.
Newberry Newberry again doubled and scored back in the second.
That Jenkins, 51, pitches.
She struck out, three, walked one, even have two on grounds, Newberry able to stay just alive, caught just a piece of that one, fouled it straight back.
Newberry 6 double s now on the season 24 base hits.
25 not gonna come here.
Hills throw the first gets here in time grounds out to third base and the quick two outs here in the 4th inning.
Great job by hail that pitch was low like we talked about attack outside the zone.
Make them swing at junk low pitch in the turn.
She golfs it over the third base of great play by the 1st baseman Campbell there for out #2 Newberry had to protect with two strikes.
Goes out of the zone.
Does ground out not grace.
Butler steps in.
She singled and drove in a run in the second inning.
She slipped it right over the shortstop Wakefield's head and drove in the first run of the contest for the Lady Blazers.
That one misses up and outside two and oh.
Mainly trying to frame that outside pitch, she tried to bring it in, but it's a good call for Ball 2.
That one right back up the middle, Mcjunkins knocks it down.
She's not gonna even attempt to throw the first an infield single for Butler.
She's 2 for two.
That's a tough play right back at you trying to defend yourself.
You're trying to figure out where the ball is.
Great job, though.
To recover and not let that ball go out to the outfield.
You can see it there.
Been jumping just enough of it to knock it down, but it skips far enough away just outside the circle she was knocking the gun down the the speedy Butler.
And really a smart decision not even attempt to throw.
Don't risk.
Here in Lyle runner to get into scoring position with two outs, here Valley View comes with two outs again, runner on Warren Mitchell.
She comes up swinging also comes up empty.
She popped out the second her first time up.
Five hits to Nashville one.
That one misses low.
Look at the On Base Percentage allowed against Mason Mcjunkins.
Just you're just 131.
Now, if you're doing much better than that here in the middle innings, runners gonna go as Butler tries to steal.
Second, thrown out in time and grace.
Butler's got herself into scoring position.
Great base running.
We talked about earlier, aggressive base running, getting a runner in scoring position is a good throw, but I've always liked when teams are more aggressive with two outs because you can always just come back to let that batter finish in the next inning.
Or try to spark something now, but that runner into scoring position.
Mitchell swings and misses through that one.
A Hardy hack.
Grace Butler's very fast too.
As we just saw her still.
Second, she's got a lot of speed.
So Bay City here could score her from second base.
We talked about the experience of Nashville Valley View is starting two freshmen.
Chopper right back into mcjunkins.
Hey look what I found and easy flipped the 1st and she gets herself out of the inning.
A hard hit ball goes for not for Mitchell.
No runs, no hits, no errors, one left on bottom of the fourth.
Coming up.
You're watching the Centennial Bank State Softball championship on Arkansas PBS sports.
The office.
Well over 2000 Arkansas Rice farms.
96% of them are family owned and operated.
It's all about building communities.
They results we've been seeing.
They've been very promising.
I grew up watching the farm, knowing every detail about it.
If you take care of the soul, the soul take care of you.
It helps us to give back to the land and make sure that it's going to be there for future generations.
Every community has a story to tell if somebody will tell it, it'll be interesting.
You know, I think sports are really big to a lot of people, and because it's an important part of our fabric and our community and the one good thing about what I've seen is it's high quality production.
You know, you think of a small communities all over Arkansas.
It's a big deal that they can turn on the TV or DVR or whatever.
And I know they're going to get the quality product.
And so I think it just expands the the focus of what PBS is doing.
You know Arkansas PBS is doing a great job and and I think it's part of education.
Did you know fans can see the live game stats before we do download the Arkansas PBS engage app to get all the numbers during the live game.
The first inning was a little slow moving, but this one starting to pick up the bottom of the Fourth Valley View, leading Nashville 2 to one is the four a softball state championship game here from the Bitten athletic complex.
That's Derek Walter, Bobby Swofford here on the call.
Appreciate you tuning in to Arkansas PBS.
It's been an action packed weekend all weekend long.
Of course, we're nowhere near done another day and a half of championship games left.
First pitch to speigner called strike.
Spigner her first time up, flew up to left field.
If she can't get something started for Nashville here, the bottom of the fourth.
It's a busy day for Valley View here in the central part of the states.
That one flared to the right side just foul.
Couldn't keep that one inside the first base foul line.
The Valley views Girls played in the four A state soccer championship the 10:00 o'clock this morning.
They fell to Pulaski Academy, two to nothing and coming up next.
You can watch it right here on Arkansas PBS.
The Blazers baseball squad playing for a 4A championship.
It's going to be blue and gold aplenty as they're taking on the goblins of Harrison.
That first pitch at 7:00 o'clock tonight, right here on Arkansas PBS.
That one's forces spiking her back off the plate.
Lucky for our viewers need to listen to you again to call on that one if they're lucky or what have they have the call.
They get to listen to RJ more than they can listen to myself.
I'll try to temper my Taco Blazers and things and goblins you go that one trying to pull the string.
Did Riley Smith but short armed in the touch that one bounces up to the plate.
The count is now even.
Great job here to even the count.
Two and two stay in there.
Gotta get something going for Nashville here.
Really try to get the crowd back into it like we talked about.
Get their their.
Black men have grounds out to Whitlock.
She makes the flip to 1st and easy out to start the inning.
Spigner, now over two, it's going to bring up Emma Hutchinson.
She's over 2 and scrappers are one for 12.083 average today like you said.
Overall, they're they're batting average as a team way up there.
371 is a whole lot higher than as you just mentioned below 100 now.
Oh for four with runners in scoring position.
The timely hit.
Is your crucial?
Smiths hours went across the plate for a strike quickly.
Things change too.
After that first inning it looked like Nashville was about to just.
Run away and now Valley View settled in.
And has really pitched well.
Kept kept the scrappers from really any hits since that first one.
Hutchinson files that went away now O2 in the count.
The one thing that Nashville has been able to do.
They sure they did trail AT21.
Only got one hit in the contest but they're putting the ball in play.
They've only struck out twice against the pitcher who struck out 250 on the season so that they're at least putting it in play.
Putting the pressure on the Valley View defense.
Now I got to try to find a hole.
That one whole looper to the first basement and Sophie Newberry there to make the easy catch.
And just like that tour down.
Not getting great contact though right now.
Like you said, they've been little.
Just Vickers, you know, hit off the bad part of the bad that one jammed the right there.
Great pitch, just hasn't been.
The type of hitting.
That Nashville is looking for, so we'll see if Jenkins, the pitcher, can can get it done.
You can see them late movement on that pitch there for Riley Smith.
This dies on the hands of the right hand.
The right handed hitter and Hutchinson can't get the hands inside.
And as you mentioned, James herself.
Strike one to Macy Mcjunkins.
Pitcher on pitcher crime.
Here we talked about her.
She is going to play that say you next year.
Junkins 379 on the season.
18 extra base hits, but now she's gonna have to shorten up, but she's falling behind in the count over 2.
Don't play empire Jeff.
Boones called that all day he he's called that outside corner of that play.
Inconsistent, that's all you ask for.
Out of the empire and crew.
As long as you were consistent, we can live with it.
1/2 pitch that one line back up the middle and Mcjunkins has got a two out single to center junkins pitching and now she's hitting great piece of hitting there down O2.
Able to get in there and smack it into center field for a base hit.
We saw Valley View rally back with two outs and push a run across and now Nashville.
Gonna try to do the same and if they can, Jasmine Wakefield is going to be the one to do so and possibly time his contest up.
When we talked about it.
Just have not been getting the barrel of the bat on the ball and that the junkins was able to do it there and it looks like we might have a.
Substitution.
#7 so Wakefield steps into the plate, she.
Grounded up to third, her first time up.
We got a courtesy runner over there at first, but that's what the substitution was 12.
Wakefield fouls one straight back, Worthington.
Nancy Worthington, sophomore, will be the courtesy runner for the pitcher.
For those unfamiliar with the softball game and a pitcher and a catcher can both get a courtesy runner as many times as they get on base.
It's supposed to speed up the game, allow them to get out to the field a little quicker, does not count against you.
You can probably do it as many times as you want.
Also, a day as warm as it is today is that one fly to shallow left field.
Mitchell's there makes the catch near the line out to number 3 recorded in Nashville.
Can't take advantage of the two out single, so we are through 4 Valley View leading at 2 to one stick around.

Bobby it takes a lot to put these games on.
I know behind the scenes we've got people's and we have people in trucks.
People in the stands, people out on scaffolding working cameras in the outfield.
Takes a lot to put these games on.
Riva takes strike one.
Her third plate appearance.
She walked back in the first, struck out in the third, and I think those are the ones who need the the the tip of the CAP.
Those photographers that baking in the sun, the the camera operators down the 1st and the third base lines.
Big shout out to the entire Arkansas PBS crew for battling the elements because it is warm, especially on that playing surface.
Felt bad for one guy yesterday who's wearing the Birkenstock sandals and he could see this the the skin between the straps is baking.
That bunch laid down nicely down there is he Reba gonna reach first say well placed bunts, she's got herself a leadoff single to start the 5th.
No Hill was up in position, but that bun just went right to her left and she wasn't able to make the play.
This hit for Reba.
Yep, just between the pitcher and the third baseman, Hill couldn't get over and make the play in time.
Not sure she would have gunned down the speedy Reba in the 1st place, even if she had made the play.
Now bought that one popped up a nice diving play made by Bailey, the catcher she combined collided with Hill, able to make tame possession of the ball and what a play in Hill is a little slow to get up.
I don't know how she held on to that ball they collided.
I'm sure we'll see the replay here shortly.
Great play by the catcher, though obviously the hill got the raw end of the deal there.
Head on helmet.
Hopefully she's OK. She's she's tough.
She's a hockey player.
She's back out there.
But what an athletic play from Bailey that to pop up out of her Crouch to make the diving play.
It's a good look at Harley Hill, the freshman third baseman for Nashville.
Just gonna stay out there.
So one down Valley View, unable to move the runner over into scoring position for Lexi Davis, she tripled back in the 3rd and came around to score.
That one.
Going back to that play, it's hard enough to come from the the position of catcher to dive after that, but then to have a a big hockey mask on and to find the ball and catch it and hold on to it.
When a player hits you.
Remarkable play there by Bailey Davis.
01 Now she's behind in the Count Owen too.
The Junkins did you settle in see if she can't get out #2 here?
The runner on Betsy Davis 440 average on the season one for 2:00 today.
That time she goes down swinging for the second time in the contest.
In a huge second out of the inning has been Junkins gets another punch out.
Four strike outs from Junkins on the day.
This one comes out a huge time to get 2 outs.
Nashville really can't afford to give up any more runs right now.
Piece of hit elevates that one up and out of the zone and gets names to chase.
Winfield swinging first pitch and on his flyball, easily corralled in by a reader and laughed, and that's leadoff single goes for knots.
We are headed to the home half of 5th Valley View still leads in two.
To one, you're watching this Centennial bank State Softball championship on Arkansas PBS sports.
I think it's important for Arkansas PBS to have sports because it provides sports on a greater platform to the entire community, and it also gives people in various other communities an opportunity to see other schools and other athletes and to have a greater appreciation for not just their own community, but the sports that are available across the state of Arkansas.
There are so many lessons that sports provides and it's one of the reasons why it's so important to the next generation of athletes coming up.

The senior Ava reader going to lead off the bottom of the fish for the scrap Berets 407 average 10 double s 31 RBI's but can she get it going here over one on the day?
The second time she stepped up to the plate here at the bottom of the fifth, only two hits for Nashville.
Readers struck out her first at bat.
National really needs to get something started here.
Hopefully reader can do it for him that one up and out of the zone.
Reader doesn't have the tallest frame, so the strike zone a little smaller.
Didn't affect her hitting though I mentioned the batting averages north of 400.
A sport that 30% is considered successful.
Takes that one as a strike might have been taken all the way just trying to distract the pitcher Smith.
Riley not affected, and she had really had settled in Derek and retired.
Ten of the last 11 have looked like math is correct.
He's at 58 pitches.
Should give it two hits, one run two strikeouts so far.
Shows bumped there.
That one called strike on the outside portion.
After that first inning.
She has really settled in.
Both pitchers working ahead in the count, it seems like most of the game she's up 1/2 here 11 of 12.
She has sat down.
Since that rough start.
Just got a piece of that, didn't read her nice job just to flip the bat out there and get a touch of it.
And stays alive.
Good look at Riley Smith.
The strike out numbers have not been there, only two strikeouts on the contest, but she's relied upon her defense and not a lot of hard hit balls by this national team as of yet, that one flipped over to the left side and into the netting.
That's exactly right.
A lot of just little dinks off off bad parts of the bat really haven't gotten the the barrel of the bat on anything and gotten any good solid hits.
So Nashville is going to get back in this and and tie it.
Take the lead.
They're really going to have to get the bats rolling.
1/2 pitch that one again fouled off to the left side and solid at bat here by Ava Reeder.
The seven hole senior.
You're trying to get something going.
Emily Bailey Harley Hill do up next.
Picture perfect day.
Weather wise, as reader steps out just a just a little bit of a breeze to make it bearable and it is warm.
It's a little cooler than it was yesterday we had.
Second great day of softballs that was found off yesterday.
We saw Tuckerman beat East Poinsett County six to two.
We saw Bentonville defeat Cabot in the 6A championship 3:00 to 1:00 this morning.
We saw Taylor beat West Sagers Ferry 9 to one, showing a little bit of everything.
The Bentonville wins a back to back championship as the Tuckerman but Bentonville got the benefit of one hit last night that one shot the slaps.
The left side, nice play by the 3rd baseman prestige and again she shows off the right arm and and guns down a reader with time to spare.
Great play by prestige there fielded cleanly and throw rocket over the 1st as we see it right here.
Great throw, she has got a cannon attached to her right shoulder.
Riley Smith definitely just pitching her defense at this point.
Not a lot of strikeouts, like you said, just trusting your defense to do the work for her.
It's easy to do when they make plays like that and then steps Emily Bailey grounded out.
Kind of an odd play the ground it up to the right side.
Back in the second fouls that one back that if you flash back to the second, that was one that deflected off the first baseman to the second baseman that was then flipped back to the first baseman.
That one hit off her mask, that's why you wear the face, gear home plate umpire.
Check in with her, Jeff Boone having the conversation with the catcher Lexi Davis.
It's one person that knows how it feels his own empire through the mask.
There's the sympathy and they've got empathy, and those two can definitely empathize with each other.
One pitch inside portion of the plates as a cotton, just enough of it.
And now Bailey's down in an 02 hole.
Emily Bailey sophomore for Nashville.
Only two hits so far for Nashville.
If they can't get something going.
Bailey sends a chopper to short Wingfield, makes the play Nice, strong throw new barrier with the straps and two down here in the 5th.
You're exactly right, Derek.
You've mentioned the defense is putting in the work today and a lot of times especially I've had a picture with as many strikeouts as Smith has.
It's easy to fall asleep, but tonight she's relying on the defensive unit and they're making plays.
The keys for her to start the game consistently throw strikes, pitched her defense.
Should give her team a chance to win.
That's what she's done so far as the blueprint of success and she is matching it.
Hill swings and misses that strike Warren.
She struck out in the third.
Smith and her arsenal.
She has a fastball and curveball, rise ball screwball and a change up.
She's used in very effectively today as we've seen her change speeds and really keep these wrapper at batters on their heels.
5 pitches in her repertoire Hill sends that one sky high.
It's coming back.
We'll see if Davis has a play.
She does not as it hits off the netting rolls back into play.
But again, Riley Smith ahead in the count now to the freshman Harley Hill.
Scrappers 2 for 17 now on the day.
Not a good stat.
Hill swings and misses and again, Nashville goes down an order.
We are running out of innings.
We're through 5 Valley View.
2 Nashville One you're watching the four?

Alright, great game day under the archery access to tons and benefits through our rewards program and available on the McDonald's have, we're eliminates.
We're back here.
The four A state championship game.
Valley View leads to two to one.
We've entered the top of the sixth and we are ready to roll the first inning.
Drug along with these two teams have been cruising right through its America, right?
Gonna lead off this inning for the Lady Blazers takes that one up and away the Valley View two runs on six hits of committed one air Nashville has yet to put the office together.
Just one run on two hits.
Scrap Brits have not committed an error.
That one since Sky High right up the shoots.
We'll see if the Plaquemine Bay by the catcher and he can Emily Bailey the nice job to scour that one and makes the play.
We talked about the.
Team hitting summary for Nashville for value 6 of 22.
Batting 274 one walk 4 strikeouts.
The two five with runners in scoring position Caroline Prestige steps in.
Now she's over 2 lined out to 3rd.
Popped up to second.
She's made two outstanding throws from her third base position, though, so she's made an impact on this game.
Well, she'll try to get into the offensive attack.
She lines out and just outside the the glove and Spikenard second she's got her first hit of the contest in the right field.
Great effort.
By Bagner there to try to jump up and make that play that ball just just out of reach.
Great hit there by prestige that one just goes the other way with it pitched on the outside half and there's a good look at the replay just over the outreach glove is spigner.
Those are the solid hits that Nashville has not been able to get in.
Valley View has here later in the game.
Sophie Newberry now.
Steps in she takes strike one Newberry doubled and scored in the second, grounded out to 3rd in the 4th.
If you're Valley View here, trying to add your lead.
Got a great Nashville team here.
Can score runs quickly.
You need some more insurance runs to guarantee a victory.
She swings through that one quickly in the whole O2.
Now, if you're national, you've got to try to keep that deficit at 2:00 to 1:00, and the offense hasn't been there for you yet.
You still have two plate appearances, and you certainly want to keep that deficit.
That one.
Now with just a piece of for Newberry thousand straight back, it's amazing how one little mistake is a picture.
One mistake is a fielder can can change the game and we saw that earlier in the game with some errors.
We saw that just missing one pitch.
Obviously a hitter can take advantage of that.
O2 pitch tries to pull the string breaking ball and gets the force in second place.
Nice throw there by Hill gets the lead runner as prestigious.
Forced out Newberry reaches on the field of choice.
Great play by Hill.
There heads up knowing where the runner is at all times making sure you can get that lead runner.
Keep that runner out of scoring position and she did that.
Now with two outs.
Keep that runner at first base.
Hopefully keep her from scoring.
It's a good look at Spigner there really smart play not to try the relay, throw it for the double play at first.
Don't risk an unnecessary error because if you do throw an error you totally defeated the purpose of going to 2nd runner gets to second base and she's in scoring position.
Really intelligent play there.
Of course, that's why they're in the state championship game.
Don't make the silly mistakes.
Grace Butler now steps in.
Tries to lay down a bunch, perfectly dead and down the third baseline, and does just roll foul.
Now she's down on the whole O and two.
She's got a pair of singles.
The only player in the contest with multiple hits RBI single in the second, another single in the fourth.
We talked about the experience at Nashville Valley View 4 juniors starting two Freshmen, 2 sophomore.
A young team here for Valley View today.
Just got a piece of that one.
Did Butler that was a similar slowing.
We saw her in the second inning when she tried to check the swing and it flared it over the shortstops head.
So that's something that's in her repertoire.
Couldn't hold up the swing, we got just enough to stay alive in the at bat.
Again, let's check swing.
It's just enough of it to stay alive, talked about it earlier.
One thick valley you've done is kept.
Nashville Else fans out of it.
It's been very quiet since that first inning after the Blazers finally tied the game one to one.
Like I said that you could see them right there, just straight quiet that one on the outside corner caught just enough of the plate being the home plate umpire.
Jeff Moon and that punch-out ends the inning, so the one out single goes for nothing.
Head to the bottom of the sixth Nashville trailing a 2 to one, but they're coming up.
You're watching the Centennial Bank State Softball championship on Arkansas PBS sports.
Do you think that's the key thing missing in the conversation about climate change?
Learning a lot about the African American experience.

A good one to order a copy of, say always a good keepsake.
Stick it in the DVD player years to come and watch your team battle it out for state champion and this one has been as advertised.
These two teams combined for 50 victories on the season.
Bottle the six Valley View leading Nashville 2 to one with the scrap.
Rates were at the dish 1/2 and three in the order actually chambers.
The leadoff batter tries to lay a **** down, but fouls it back.
She singled to lead off the contest and the bottom of the first at least came around to score.
Nashville's only run, grounded out to second back in the third inning.
Chambers leading off needs to get something going.
Only six outs left for Nashville.
Happier Valley View.
You're certainly counting down the outs counting down the strikes.
Of their first ever softball championship, chambers lines went right at the second baseman and McKenzie Whitlock on the receiving end.
Switch your popcorn.
Wow, what a great.
Catch there corner of her glove.
Letting a pot looks that great.
Great air there to get that out.
Now Whitlock had to elevate for it for tires to the leadoff hitter Chambers, and that's a big big Oz.
Is Nashville's trying to get something going here in the bottom of the sixth.
Madison Steele now stepping in.
She drove in a run back in the first inning, also as grounded out to shorts.
Steel Watch you strike one catch the corner of the plates.
One thing we talked about a break Bobby both teams working very efficiently between innings.
I mean they're out ready to go anxious to actually working against them a little bit.
They've got a sticker, sit around for 20 or 30 seconds.
This first game we've seen teams have problems with that.
We'll shop for the third prestige and other throws that time almost pulled Newberry off the back, but the empire says she got back on and second out of the inning is recorded.
Great job by Newberry.
Stretch it out.
Had to make a little hop to get that ball but came down kept her foot on the bag as we see right here.
It's a good look at it.
Great play about the first phase.
Newberry did come off the bag indeed.
Bill Fry excuse me David Martin, the first space umpire saw that she got back down on the bag in time.
Second alley inning.
So Helen swagner.
Comes up she's over 2 flied out to left, grounded out to second base.
When misses inside.
One thing about one run ball game.
All it takes is one hit.
That's right.
One mistake can change this game and tie it up.
Wind is still blowing right to left, so if you're gonna hit it out, you probably need to do it left center to to the left out foul line.
That one right across the heart of the plate and even as the count of 1 on one.
Again.
Now I've kind of harped on it a few times, Derek, but you look at the numbers all season long for Valley View starting pitcher Riley Smith.
248 strikeouts coming into the contest only two today.
But the defense doing work for the Lady Blazers.
That one flies out to right is he rebel right there to make the play and Nashville down to their final three outs.
We head to the 7th.
It's 2 to 1 Valley View and the four A state championship game and you're watching it right here on Arkansas.

You know what?
This info?
From Arkansas?
PBS visitmyarpbs.org/signup we're in the 7th.
Of course, high school softball our 7th inning contest and we are ready to roll.
Valley View has a 2 to one lead and Lauren Mitchell are going to step up.
It's nine one and two in the batting order for the Lady Blazers.
Mitchell just popped out to 2nd.
Grounded out to the pitcher, Nick tries to get down above the tops it up in the first base side.
They can't play, cannot be made by Maggie Campbell.
That one in the glove of Campbell, but pops out.
Lord Mitchell has a second life kind of been great illustration of the day for the scrapper read so far today, just right there, and then pops out up just.
That's an easy play that you have to make.
If you're Campbell, I'm gonna try to bounce back.
If you're Macy mcjunkins, the pitcher for national one, get that out.
Does come back get strike two Mitchell the whales over that one?
Yeah, if you're in Nashville you cannot afford to give it another run right now with the way you've been hitting today up in Riley, Smith has been mowing them down the Valley View pitcher.
Aren't you counting out of Mitchell?
Should we get a mess?
Way to recover there for Mason Mcjunkins drunken driver.
Kind of a tough play there.
You don't get the out you fight back battle all the way back and strike her out.
Great job there by Jenkins.
7 The strike out of the contest.
Foreman junkins Max to the top of the order is hereby.
She swings his messages as she's trying to slap.
Hit that one.
Haven't seen a whole lot of that.
We saw quite a bit of it in the six a contest last night.
Not many slap hitters and this one or even shows button.
It pulls it back and that one ruled high out of the zone.
Reba walked her first time up, struck out her second.
And got a single in the fifth inning her last time up.
Reeva, that one on the outside corner.
Good look at it there, it's a good pitch.
Throw something off off the plate there, and the strike zone.
Get ahead in the count one and two.
This is not a lot you can do with a perfectly placed pitch.
That one swinging his mcjunkins back to back strikeouts to begin the 7th inning.
And two down for McKenzie Whitlock.
Jenkins is gonna get a chance here to get the third out and then come in and back.
She had one of the two hits for Nashville on the day.
But right now her only priority is getting this third out and getting to the bottom half of the 7th inning.
Whitlock, oh for three on the day.
Didn't reach on a fielders choice back in the 1st.
Once you strike one over the other third.
Grounded out to 3rd and the 3rd inning did whitlocks and popped out to the catcher in the 5th.
Junkets delivers that one across the heart of the plate and now she's up in the Count Owen too, making quick work of this ending is mcjunkins is exactly what you need, and you alluded to it.
Derek gotta get back into the dugout, give your office a chance in the last half of the 7th, which is the last scheduled frame.
This is a big chance right here to get get the fans into it.
You're going to the bottom.
The big strike out here.
A big put out.
Be huge for the Nashville faithful.
Just two hits for Nashville offense.
Gonna take care of work on defense here that one popped up right side.
Gonna go right to the second baseman Spiker.
She makes the play and we head to the bottom of the last two to one in the four.

Nashville has the heart of the lineup coming up and the bottom of the seventh.
Emma Hutchinson, Macy Mcjunkins Jasmine Wakefield to ask with the.
Reason or the rhyme to extend this contest as they trail Valley View 2 to one you just said at the heart of the lineup.
Got some seniors and juniors and two seniors here.
Hutchinson swinging.
First pitch flares it out.
The short play is made by Winfield, one down like we said just cannot get the good barrel of the bat on there and hit that in the outfield.
So it's up to two seniors who obviously don't want their season to end like this.
We'll see if they can't get something going for Nashville just a little late movement there on the pitch from Riley Smith avoids the barrel.
As you mentioned, Derek Pops it out the short now.
Maston mcjunkins.
She's one for two as sharp single to center her last and back that was in the 4th.
She has one of the two hits for Nashville.
See if she can get a third.
Nashville really needing something big here.
If they're going to tie this game and junkins does lead the team in home runs with five.
And there's 200 across the board.
Left Field Line, dead center and right field line, and.
Sheer let's go Macy.
That one's not a third for called First strike.
The Battle of pitchers right here, Bobby.
3rd at bat, these two are very figured each other out.
They've each won a battle.
Who's gonna win the crucial third one here in the bottom of the seventh?
Can win a battle.
Who's gonna win the war?
The ball lifted on the right side of long run.
Ball goes out of play, but in junkins now down.
Oh and two.
How much ton of foul space here at the softball complex?
Of course, nothing like the baseball field on behind the way.
If you haven't seen the the baseball field tune into Arkansas PBS 7:00 o'clock, you see it from 4A baseball title game.
A lot of foul space over there.
Be interesting to see what Riley Smith here when she goes to what pitch she goes to down ahead.
I went to to another pitcher.
What pitch does she throw here to try to start her out?
Try to get her to chase one up and out of the zone, but we junkins lays off.
Pushes the count to one and two.
Bottom of the seventh Nashville needs one here or this one's gonna be over.
This line, where would a play?
Caroline Prestige makes another huge play on the hot corner.
That got a good barrel and that was a heck of a play by the 3rd baseman.
Prestige and it's a good look at it.
There's not much time to react with prestige just moves the step to her left lunges, forwards.
Look what I second ounce.
You're exactly right now.
The last chance for Nashville, as Jasmine Wakefield steps up to the plate over 2 on the contest chance for the senior to come through for our team here with two outs, the left handed hitter.
What a great softball game.
Fundamental 2 airs, one for each team.
That one found over left side.
And like I consider you know, Valley View had a tough first inning.
Nashville had a tough inning there with some mayors, but other than that it's just been a great fundamental softball game by two fantastic teams.
Riley Smith, the pitcher for Valley View, has retired 18 in the last 19 batters.
She has faced 2 great pitchers that one lifted to the left field.
Perfectly played.
Valley View has won their first ever softball championship.
Wow.
Like we said Bobby the first inning.
You and I looked at each other and went, oh.
When they calmed down, they had a mound visit.
They calmed down and after that it's been all Valley View.
What a great defensive alignment there by the left fielder Lauren Mitchell.
She was almost at the line as she caught that little looping liner from Jasmine Wakefield and that's called scouting and a great job and a tip of the tap to the coaching staff and the players for Valley View as they take down the scrapper rates.
And here in the 4A Championship game, we're going to step aside.
Trophy presentation.
Coming up, you're watching the Centennial.
State Softball championship on Arkansas PBS sports.
I would never be able to run as many cattle on here as I'm running now.
The old way I was doing it.
I'm sure there's a lot of farmers still today that they think they're doing a great job and.
And I and I understand exactly why they think that because they don't know any different, you know?
More than dark.
It's a living, breathing ecosystem.
Thanks George, appreciate it.

Let me take you for a ride on the face.
Valley View has captured their first ever state championship as they take down Nashville by a score of two to one.
Here in the four A state championship game and Derek, it was all about pitching in this one, and you take a look at the the stats and the the effort for Riley Smith retired 19 of the last 20 she faced and got a lot of help from her defense.
What a battle between two fantastic pitchers.
Riley Smith, 86 pitches, gave up two hits, one run through only three strikeouts.
We talked about her 248.
She ends the game with three shots.
She faced 24 battery.
Obviously after the dominating performance and he was seeing a lot of times softball.
If you've got a picture, who's on that given day, they're gonna be tough to beat, since the Nashville scrapper rats are handed their state runner up trophy.
Of course, nothing to be disappointed about for 26 and five record on the season.
That's right.
And Macy Mcjunkins pitched a fantastic game.
Seven hits, she gave up, but only two runs walked one and struck out seven.
I mean, she pitched fantastic 99.
Pictures for her.
Unfortunately, they just could not get the bats going.
You know that pitching performance wins probably 9 times out of sight and unfortunately this is the one time it didn't Valley View put a little pressure on him, but you if you flash back to the first inning, the way the game was going, it really felt like Nashville had all the momentum they took advantage of the air.
Got an early one.
Nothing lead, but they quickly bounced back and got that run in the top of the second to tie the game as they are now receiving their championship hardware.
Talked about pitching but the two runs for Valley View.
So Grace Butler go to for three Winkfield went one for three.
Lexi Davis went one for three.
Newberry went one for three couple RBI's for Butler and Winfield, just a great job behind the plate to get the one extra run.
They needed to be crowned state champions, right?
That's a moment right there.
They're never going to forget.
In the picture they're going to want to hang up on their wall until the day that they can't walk anymore.
I promise.
You state championship picture will go a long way, but we're not done here on Arkansas PBS.
Be sure to stick around at least come back 7:00 o'clock as the 4A.
Baseball State championships gonna be on the line and well familiar logo you're gonna see the Valley View Blazers.
Gonna try to double dip with the baseball and softball championship, but they've gotta deal with Harrison and the Goblins and Blazers.
Seven o'clock first pitch.
Be sure to stick around RJ Hawk and myself.
Will have the call there and that's gonna do it for this one as the 4A championship goes to Valley View.
Derek, your final thoughts on a pretty well played contest.
Just a great game like we talked about earlier.
Great fundamental softball.
Only two airs battle.
Pitching duel.
They went back and forth unfortunately for Nashville.
Fortunately for Valley View, great pieces of hitting timely heat hitting when they needed to get their first ever state softball championship.
Riley Smith named Your 4A Championship game MVP.
She's gonna go about, celebrate with their friends.
We're going to take a break and stick around at 7:00 o'clock for a baseball coming your way.
For Derek, Walter Ryan, Bobby Swofford.
Appreciate you tuning in.
