Dr. Warren Stewart Sr., senior pastor at the First Institutional Baptist Church in Phoenix, was at the forefront of the effort to get a Martin Luther King Holiday in Arizona that was first celebrated 23 years ago. A purchase at a Phoenix thrift store led to the discovery of an audio recording of Dr. Martin Luther King’s visit to Phoenix and Arizona State University in 1964.
