It is championship time in Arkansas.
We come to you live from Bangkok Arena, and we'll bring you the one eight girls state championship game between Earl and West Side.
I'm RJ Hawk along side with West, Moore and West.
It's always great to be back here in Hot Springs for championship basketball.
And we get a great game to get us started.
Two of the best teams in one AA.
In fact, Earl was ranked number one to start the season.
West side who was ranked number two.
They've already played a couple of weeks ago and Earl won that game.
Close game 5955.
But of course, they also met right here last year to decide the state title.
And if you think about that game last year, it was a great game.
West side won the game 6349, but they really got away in the second half and made that margin what it was.
It was a great first half.
And here are some of the highlights from last year's game.
And it was just a shooting onslaught for West Side in the second half.
Earl got out to an early lead and they kind of dominated that first half.
But West Side took control in the second half to win the state championship last year.
West and you always love seeing a rematch.
Rematch in the state title game.
Well, Earl won the boys and girls title back in 2016.
And 2018.
The Road Boys won last year.
West side right there.
They kept Earl from getting the double.
Earl could do it again this year.
They're looking for a double double.
But good West side prevent it from happening once again.
Well, I tell you what, we've got a lot of basketball over the next three days.
And today's schedule starts with that one a game.
Yeah.
And then you've got the one eight boys coming up next.
It's Clairton and Earl.
Then tonight it's the girls and boys action in two way.
You've got Sloan Hendrix versus Quitman and Barton versus Mount Vernon and Ola.
Another great set of games for tonight.
Pretty easy to remember this year.
We got 18283848 tomorrow 5868.
We'll finish this off on Saturday.
Well when we come back we will break down both these two teams between Earl and West Side.
As you're watching the one eight championship game and it's all being brought to you right here on Arkansas TV sports.

I think it's important for Arkansas PBS to have sports, because it provides sports on a greater platform to the entire community, and it also gives people in various other communities an opportunity to see other schools and other athletes and to have a greater appreciation for not just their own community, but the sports that are available across the state of Arkansas.
There's so many lessons that sports provides, and it's one of the reasons why it's so important to the next generation of athletes coming up.

So today was the first annual harvest for Hope event.
There's so much going on in agriculture right now.
So we talked about what could we do to have an immediate impact for farmers.
So we said, let's put a concert together and let's have it for, to raise awareness of a topic that not a lot of farmers want to talk about.
So many people across the state support Arkansas agriculture, and we need to because we don't just feed our families, we feed the state, we feed the United States, and we feed the world right here in Arkansas.
Coming soon on Arkansas TV.
Jada, back here at Bank Arena in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Ma Jayhawk along with Westmore.
As we get you prepared for today's one AA girls state championship game between your old Lady Bulldogs and the West Side Eagles.
But to have you learned where you may be across state of Arkansas and West, we ought to have an exciting game.
So rematch of last year's game as we talked about.
Let's first jump in and talk about those early lady Bulldogs who come in with a record of 33 and two in the season.
And this is how they got to state.
They beat magazine 71 to 30 in the first round.
Moved on to going La Fayette County 8429.
Putting up some pretty impressive numbers in those first two games.
Then they take on vital win that game 67 to 39.
And that is how they got to the state championship game.
And they've got a player in Jada maples West.
She's a 510 senior committed to Missouri.
That is they do it all player for them.
Yeah maples had her choices of different colleges to go to.
And it was the Missouri Tigers that won out.
Maples wearing number two.
Keep an eye on her tonight.
She is going to make a big difference for the Bulldogs.
It wasn't actually Jada but we will take a look at Ashlyn Casey.
Also she is averaging hey couple more passes or maybe for teammates will make a couple more baskets.
She'd be averaging a triple double right 15 points ten rebounds six assists.
You know you you got to make the basket for me to get the assist right I'm not going to blame it on her.
Totally get it.
Let's look at the West Side Eagles real fast before we start this ball game.
And for West Side their road to the finals and how they got here.
And the bracket will pull up.
So we'll get to the bracket here in a moment.
Is it looks like they're about to jump center here at oh there we go.
The brackets right there.
And West side.
They took on Jasper won 6437 and then took on North Fork to get here.
And now we are underway in the one AA state championship game as Earl is going to control the tip and start things off from left to right up your TV screen here at Banko ZK arena.
West side coming out playing a little zone.
Earl trying to figure out what offense they want to run against.
This two three Ben Johnson with the basketball is going to give it off over to Jefferson for three.
It's no good.
Rebounds pulled in by Ashlyn Casey.
And you'll see a lot of Ashlyn Casey throughout this ball game.
Bringing it up is going to be Kornet the daughter of Stephen Cornett, the head basketball coach for West Side Girl, playing man to man defense, tight man to man defense.
Hard to get any kind of penetration.
Casey on the right side of Payne is going to be fouled.
Joining the free throw line to shoot Jada Maples picks up her first foul of the game on the first defensive possession.
That'll be something to keep an eye on.
You know Earl doesn't want to get maples in foul trouble.
Have to sit her on the bench for a little bit.
So Ashlyn Garcia, 510 senior, is committed to play basketball in the College of Ozarks as she knocks down her first free throw, averaging 15.2 points per game, 10.5 rebounds a game.
And as West said a minute ago, 6.3 assists per game.
Second free throw is good and that's the first scores of the ball game for West Side.
Bring it up for Earl is going to be Madison Glass speed.
West side sticking in that zone.
Back over to glass B for a three off the back of the iron.
No good.
Cassie's right there to pull in the rebound.
Bring it up.
It's going to be Cornett works.
Left side.
One thing about this team they play really good defense.
But down the paint goes low.
And that's Lily Stevens.
She can't get it to go.
And here comes Earl working quickly.
Left side to maples.
Left side of the board puts it in.
We're tied up with great ball fake from Jada Maples.
Nobody was there, but she pretended she was passing to somebody and got a West Side cruise fairy to give her a little space.
All she needed for her first two.
Now here comes Cornett and she puts it up and it's off the back.
They are no good.
Rebound pulled in by Earl working quickly Jefferson crosscourt pass.
And now we've got a double dribble in the corner that time.
It's called against Johnson.
And so West Side will get the basketball back with 610 remaining here in the first quarter.
They call Zinnia Johnson Chip.
Chip got a little excited that time.
And the.
Put the ball down twice.
Look at the pressure from Earl.
That's Chip getting all over Kaylee Cornett goes left side into the hands of Murphy.
By the high post.
Gives it back to Cornett.
Now out to Stevens trying to work in down low to Kassian.
And she's gonna bounce it off the baseline and it'll be a roll.
Basketball goes across the line.
It was a tough place to catch the ball.
Not much you could do with it right there in either.
The pace of this game so far has been pretty frantic.
As we're at the 538 mark left side.
They work at a Johnson now, maples with it.
Thought about stopping and popping but kicked it out of the glass.
Me for three in and out.
No good balls on the floor.
Who's going to come up with.
It's going to be West Side Murphy.
He's got it.
And she'll bring it up.
Court now.
Into the hands of Laney Gentry.
Now Murphy right side, walks it over to Cosby.
He to put it up.
Had a deflected away.
Was taken by Earl maples with the blocked shot and taking it the length of the court.
Good pass outside.
Cheers pulls up no good rebounds pulled in by gentry.
You know one thing about Jade cheers.
Her dad played at her and he was on the 2000 state title team on the boys basketball side, Lady Eagles are doing a great job on the rebounds.
They have not given up an offensive rebound early yet.
With the basketball Cornett she'll pull up just inside the three point line.
It's no good as it hits off the side of the irons.
Gonna be pulled in by Earl.
Here comes Jefferson.
She'll pull up for three.
It's no good.
Rebounds pulled in by West Side now three on two.
Now here comes Cornett with a right hand.
Banks it off the glass.
And west side takes the lead.
Cornett with her first points of the game.
She had missed a three and missed another shot.
So she gets on the books.
Here's a jumper from the baseline.
It's no good ball is going to go out of bounds.
Last touched by Earl.
And we're going to have some substitutions coming in.
The ball game is Madison Dunn and Christian Boykin are going to check in for Earl Boykin and Dunn, two of their most used reserves for Earl.
The Lady Bulldogs avoid a very tough non-conference schedule.
They beat Arbor, who's playing for the six eight championship loss to Pulaski Academy earlier this season.
That's one of their two losses.
Haven't lost to A18 team all year steal from maples.
Here comes Jada Maples.
Gives it off over to Johnson.
She's going to bounce it off the glass.
And good.
The pace of play in this one is it's going to be like this.
And if you remember to last year's game when these two met in the finals, it was up and down the court the entire game.
Expect nothing different in this one.
Gotta take care of the ball, justice Earl.
Defense.
Now here's gentry trying to put up a shot.
Ball's deflected.
Taken by Earl maples with the basketball.
She lost the handle and has taken this time by Cornett working down to Cassie in the lane.
Right hand it goes.
He's fouled on.
Good finish from Cassie.
Drew the contact.
Who's that shoulder freed up the shot Cassie banks it in.
She'll go to the free throw line again.
And that's going to take us to our media timeout with 323 to play here in the first quarter.
We've got a tie ball game for four between Earl and West Side.
You're watching the Centennial Bank state basketball championships on Arkansas TV sports.
So today was the first annual harvest for Hope event.

Press.
Well, there's a look at Keith Cornett, the basketball coach for the West Side Eagles, says his team is up 6 to 4 right now.
Over Earl.
And he's the defending state champion.
And down the other side Earl Lady Bulldogs Stephen Jefferson, the head basketball coach for the Lady Bulldogs.
Both great coaches in class one a number one number two in the state.
I mean, this is the two best teams they meet in the final game.
Ashlyn tosses second free throws.
Good.
So it's 7 to 4 in favor of West Side with the basketball.
Jefferson trying to work it down low.
We've got a charge that time.
They're going to call it against Madison Dunn.
She lowered her shoulder and try to go up to the bucket.
And the goal with the charge and the start to this game she's getting it done on both ends.
Just drew that charge.
She's gotten a couple of rebounds.
Leads team with five points.
Check in the ball game for West side Macie Gentry who handles the ball.
Now for the Eagles as she'll work at left side back down to her.
Job Johnson tried to go guard.
Get it over the car is stolen away.
Is taken by Jefferson right hand and Jefferson's going to be fouled.
So she'll head to the free throw line to shoot to make them earn the two.
Good hard foul.
Don't give up anything easy.
I like to play early.
Looking for their first three zero for four.
They hadn't hit a three yet you know trying to attack this two three zone.
Had a couple open shots.
Just can't get anything to fall right now.
Maybe a trouble if they start knocking down the three.
Jurnee Jefferson at the free throw line and knocks down her first shot.
She's got two offers right now from UCA, Arkansas State, Southern Illinois, UT Martin and she read that play well just picked it off.
Took it to the other end of the court.
And tosses there to pull in the rebound off the miss.
245 to play here in the first quarter as West Side leads it 7 to 5 trying to work it down low.
But the hands of Laney Gentry and the ball is going to go off.
A player looked like it went off a journey.
Jefferson.
And so now Lenny Gentry is going to inbound it on the left side of the bucket.
Here's to Coffey of the half Tobias.
Nice cut that time by Cosby to extend to a four point lead.
Going to have to get Cosby under control.
Here's a three point attempt by Johnson.
No good rebound pulled in by West Side and bring it up.
The floor is going to be Macy Gentry.
Ashland Cassie back over to gentry.
And they're just going to work it around.
Here's a three attempt by gentry.
That's Lady Gentry who knocked it down.
And that's the first three of the ball game.
It's 12 to 5.
Here's a three for Earl.
And it's going to roll off the backside of the rim.
Offensive rebound put back.
It's no good by Jade.
Cheers and cheers led to the free throw line to shoot two.
That was the first offensive rebound for Earl Cosby.
And company had been doing a really good job of getting all the rebounds.
Yeah, that was the very first offensive rebound actually.
It's the first offensive rebound game.
So Earl's doing a great job to getting the miss shots into the game.
And for the lady the first free throw is good.
It's 12 to 6in.
Think about that schedule you were talking about for Earl.
You play six a Springdale Harbor win that as the second one's good.
Then you take on for a Pulaski Academy.
I mean, all the teams they played in that non-conference have been really good or finalist teams so far.
They really made a tough schedule.
Here's gentry for another three.
She's fouled.
And to go on to shoot three shots in journey Jefferson didn't like that call, but it happened right in front of the official.
Just got a little piece of the arm and.
The first free throw is good.
Laney gentry, she's only a junior.
She's 32% from three this year.
The shot looks good.
The first one she made.
And actually that one looked pretty good.
Two second free throws, good.
Makes all three free throws.
And it's now an eight point game with a minute 38 to play here in the first quarter.
Well Laney coming in with six quick points.
Now here's a three for Earl.
And it's off the side of the Iron Lady.
Gentry picks up the rebound and quickly West side moves it going down low.
Tried to hook up that time with Willie Goodson and it's went right through her hands.
And Earl get the basketball back.
But one side is just going to sit back in that zone until Earl shoots him out of it.
I mean, there's no reason to do anything else.
Earl is still over on that.
Three points, a zero for seven to start the game.
He's got the basketball.
Works her right side to Johnson around the perimeter.
They go over to Jefferson.
She'll go baseline.
Puts it off the glass.
It's good.
There you go.
Outside.
Shot's not falling.
What do you do?
Try to get to the paint.
Go back.
Court pressure by Earl and the ball's going to be kicked back out over to Cassie.
Job.
The key now.
Right side to gentry and ball go out of bounds.
Last touched by West Side.
And so now Earl have the basketball back.
And we're under a minute to play here in the first period corner.
Did a good job reading that ball.
She saw that was going to be short and she jumped up trying to catch it.
But it just tipped off.
Her fingers went out of bounds.
Lily Stevens just checked in the ball game for West Side in for Macy Gentry.
Still a couple seconds.
Get a little extra rest here at the end of the quarter.
Johnson working the ball down low to glass.
She goes high off the backboard.
It's no good.
And rebounds pulled in by Cassie.
In the lane goes.
Murphree puts up the shot.
It's no good.
And rebound pulled in by Earl Morgan quickly goes Jefferson Eurostep in the lane.
It's good.
And they've pulled within four points with 15 seconds to play in the quarter.
Nice move right there to get the layup.
Got 10s here at the end of the quarter to try to get a shot off of that Earl defense.
Has four seconds and go down low.
Puts up the shot.
It's no good by gentry.
And that'll do it for the first quarter of play as West Side.
They lead it by 415 to 11 in the one eight girls state championship game.

Trivia time.
What is the record for the most three pointers attempted by a team in a single game?
We'll have that answer for you.
Coming up, the second most three pointers.
Tempted by a team in a single game.
I got to think it's more probably more recent, right?
So no, no, no really.
I'll go with 30.
Back to action.
As.
West side has the basketball cornett in the lane.
Ball got stripped away.
Taken by Earl.
Working quickly.
Goes left side into the hands of Jefferson.
Cut to the shot.
Offensive rebound.
Putback.
Still no good.
Ball on the floor.
Jefferson is right there for a three.
Is good.
First three of the game for Earl.
They started zero for seven.
How many times you see that A made three off an offensive rebound.
Just sitting there waiting for it.
Kick it back out.
Wide open three.
Good down a one point game.
But the ball stolen away by Jefferson in the lane with the right hand.
And Earl's got the lead.
A quick five zero run to start this quarter.
And it's because of turnovers.
West side cruise ferry turned it over on back to back possessions.
And they cash it in for five points.
Back to take a look at their points off turnovers.
Earl has eight eight of their fifth eight of their 16.
So exactly half of their points coming off turnovers.
That Earl defense is really starting to give West Side some fits.
And they've really defensively they've played well all game.
It's just I haven't been able to get shots to go.
And you can see how quick this Earl team is.
So the six turnovers now for West Side.
Got to take care of the ball.
But this Earl defense is something else.
You see the quickness the speed.
And Earl now comes out looking to pick up full court.
Now Eddie Murphy has got the basketball.
She'll bring it up.
Murphy in the lane and we've got to travel.
Had a collision at the paint.
And so Earl's gonna get the basketball back with 703 left here in the second.
That's what the Earl defense does.
You just speed you up and you do something that's kind of un characteristic, a little bit of out of control and next thing you know, it's a travel.
Here's a three from the top of the key.
It's no good.
And the rebound is going to go out of bounds.
And last touched by Earl.
Earl hitting the glass all of a sudden two early on West side was doing a good job getting all the rebounds.
But now Earl's got three offensive rebounds.
Almost had a fourth RJ hey tell you you are way off on your heels.
Yes.
It's not anywhere close to 30 right 50.
Yeah.
Double it once.
Yeah.
Wow.
Here's a shot in the left corner for three by gentry.
It's no good.
Tozzi with the offensive rebound she went back up and got stripped away.
Not to be taken right side in the hands of Johnson.
Now top of the key for three is nothing but the bottom of the net as James cheers knocked it in.
Earl on a run right now that is an eight zero run to start the second quarter.
Now here's Cassie lost.
The handle is going to go out of bounds.
Earl get the basketball back.
And another turnover.
That's three turnovers in four possessions.
So you say a hundred.
Three pointers.
Well 112 to be exact 112.
Is this a this this is maybe it's a typo 112.
Wow.
Now here's the three top of the game.
That one goes the three ball starting to heat up for Earl as they're out to a 22 to 15 lead.
Make it 11 zero run to start the second quarter.
And another turnover ball was swatted away at the very end by Kaylee Cornett.
The court it's already called one timeout.
He's got to be thinking about a second.
Just a disastrous start to this second quarter.
Earl heating up getting turnovers.
Here's a three top of the key.
No good rebounds pulled in by West Side OKC.
Went up high for that.
Got it deflected but teammate was there.
Cornett drives the lane.
Finally gets a bucket for West Side.
Much needed basket.
Earl with the ball as Johnson will bring it up.
Now they work it down low to maples.
Maples had it deflected away.
Ball goes out of bounds and it stays with Earl with 515 to play in the second.
He's checking the ball game for West Side.
It'll be Emma Murphy Murphy well Eden Murphy right there.
That was a good defensive play.
Went up challenged Jada Maples and blocked it out of bounds.
Inbound comes the glass.
Now back right side over to Johnson for three.
It's no good.
And Castille pulling the rebound.
She's got pressure off the midcourt.
Stride gives it off to gentry.
Ginger lose the handle on it but maintains possession.
And she'll go right side to it.
Now here's a three from the left side by gentry.
It's no good.
And the offensive rebound was tried to pull in by West Side.
But Earl took it.
And here comes Jefferson with the right hand.
Takes it off the glass.
And it's 2417.
Just see how fast Earl is looking to come back and chase the ball down.
Shot another turnover.
And here's the thing.
West side thinks that they're going to have open buckets when they throw it down.
More like that.
But Earl's been so fast to be able to come up from behind and strip stripping away any Bulldogs there.
For the first rough 12 minutes of this game.
Earl's the quicker team and the speed and quickness is causing all kinds of offense.
Madison Dunn just checked in for Earl as Johnson will have it goes back top the key to glass for three.
It's good after starting over seven from the three point line, Earl is heating up.
That is their fourth make of the quarter.
Now here's Cornett.
Cornett throws the ball down is taken by Earl working quickly Jefferson bounce pass over to Johnson.
Puts it up and good.
Great ball fakes.
But once again it's the pressure.
Defensive pressure is creating turnovers.
Now here's gentry right side.
They go throws it off the glass.
That time it was Murphy.
And the ball go out of bounds.
And stay with West Side three game in the air time.
So 344 to play here in the second quarter.
It's 2917.

Here's a three point shooting of Earl so far in the game.
It has just been impressive what they've done here in the second quarter.
As Wes said before we went to break, they were well over seven.
Yeah over seven.
And they have really turned it on here in the second quarter.
And Earl leads it 2917 West side with the basketball as they're going to work it down low.
And it'll be taken by Earl.
Earl with the basketball.
That's maples with the right hand.
She'll bang it off the glass.
It's good turnovers.
And it was the 12th turnover already for West Side.
And now Earl has 20 points off those turnovers.
Now here's Kornet for three.
Can't get it to go.
Pulled in by Murphy.
And West Side will keep it.
Now here's a three by gentry.
She's fouled and show it in the free throw line.
Shoot three second time tonight or this afternoon.
She's been fouled on the three point attempt.
She made all three.
The first time she hit it three.
Got fouled on the three.
Made all three.
And now she got a chance to do it once again okay I'm curious.
Somebody texted me West.
So you said 112 three pointers.
That's what I was told.
But is that right?
Who did that guy?
Perkins.
What is the record for the most three pointers attempted by a team in a single game?
112.
How many they make.
But here's the what was the final score?
Was that win?
It was, Hutch crap.
Was she playing there or.
I guess we don't know if it's boys or girls game, but he's on.
Hutch Kraft could shoot the three.
I think it's for girls, right?
I would assume being that we're in the girls game, but, you know, actually, Hutch Kraft, who is the coach at Conway, she was.
She used to be a baller back in the day.
One of the few turnovers for Earl.
They've been taking care of the ball.
I mean it's been the story of the game.
Just the fourth turnover for Earl and West Side has 12 points off turnovers 20 to 3.
And here's a loose ball and retained by West Side.
That backcourt pressure by Earl tenacious.
Oh he called timeout and we've got a timeout.
Charge.
West side 30s on the ball.
Earl's finding the mark on the offensive end.
They made four straight field goals.
They have now outscored West Side 20 to 5 here in the second quarter.
Well I'll tell you this was I mean, what's been impressive is how Earl has been able to apply pressure without fouling.
I mean, and it's not just their guarding him in the half court.
I mean, they're they going full court press in the back court, and they're not fouling at all and doing this.
And, they've just played really impressive defense so far here in the game.
West side will tell you or their side offense they're not being called for fouls.
They're fouling but they're not being called.
But you can see the crowd over there every time they're bringing the ball up begging for a whistle.
It'll be blown, right?
No, you're right.
They have not been called for many fouls.
Here's cornet.
She was had the ball taken away from her and is taken down by Earl Morgan.
Quigley's glass for three.
No good rebound is going to be pulled in by Madison Dunn.
And she'll go up.
She'll shoot two shots and that's a dunk.
You can just go in to the free throw line for the first time today.
That was her first rebound of the game.
They've done a good job of keeping her off the boards.
Having first free throws no good.
Expect to have some big crowds over the next three days here at Bank Oak Arena.
Second free throws no good as well.
Got a really nice crowd here today.
Yeah.
Won a game.
You knew all Earl would show up with the boys playing next.
And they have a great contingent.
There's cornet goes back over the top of the key.
Down to 15 on the shot clock.
Cassie working right side.
Lost her dribble.
Trying to find somebody to get it to.
And Earl's right there to take it.
Working quickly goes Jefferson.
Nice pass across the lane into the hands of maples and it's good.
I hate to harp on it, but it's another turnover.
Two more points off turnovers.
They're putting on a defensive showcase right now.
Cassie in the lane.
Double team comes.
She kicked it out to gentry for three.
It's good.
Right now their offense is coming from gentry.
That's 12 points.
She's got 12 of the 23.
Marks the ball down.
The maples double team comes.
She lost the handle on it.
Now they get it back out to gentry.
Down to a minute 25 to play in the quarter.
Cornett for three.
She'll knock it in back to back threes for West Side.
Nice little run.
That's A60 run.
You draw them a little closer.
Leads down to seven.
Maples.
She'll put up a three.
It's no good.
Rebounds offensively taken by Gillespie.
They kick it out right side for three.
It's good.
It's a three point shooting affairs journey Jefferson knocked it down.
That's a great answer.
After that little six oh run.
West side fans are getting into it.
West side was getting a little confidence.
And you respond with that three corner is going to pull up for three.
Now.
She hits the bottom of the bucket.
It's a three point shooting contest for both of them.
We might hit that record West.
It was fun to watch.
Right now.
Here is glass B. Over to maples.
Kicks it back.
Left side to Johnson for three.
And it doesn't go as taken by West side down to 20s to play here in the first half.
They want to get that final shot.
Good chance here.
Down seven.
Get it to a five point game.
The three will get it to a four point game.
But Cassie had a strip away from her.
And it's going to be taken by maples.
That's the worst case scenario right there.
And that's going to do it for the first half where they lead it 38 to 29 in the one eight girls state championship game.
Stick around at halftime.
We've got a great halftime coming up.
And then we'll have a second half action for you.
You're watching the Centennial Bank state basketball Championships on Arkansas TV sports.
Since 1937, the electric cooperatives of Arkansas have been providing power to homes, farms and businesses across our state to cooperatives or member owned and work together to serve Arkansans.
The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas proudly support high school students and athletics in Arkansas, and hope you enjoy watching the state championship games on Arkansas TV sports.
Better connected together.
The electric cooperatives of Arkansas.
We're at the half at Bank arena.
Stick around, because this is Arkansas TV where Arkansas stories come to life.
Coming up, Christina munoz electric to shoot the Incredible Arkansas TV student All-Stars.
But first, from the small town of Newark, Arkansas.
Two kids with big dreams prove that anything is possible.
Spencer and Austin Reeves just didn't make it to professional basketball.
They came back home to share what they learned.
Check out this story on how two Cedar Ridge High School graduates are using their success to inspire the next generation through their summer basketball camp.
My name is Spencer Reeves.
I'm from Newark, Arkansas.
I went to Cedar High School.
I do camps during the summer, and I play professional basketball overseas.
The rest of the nine, ten months out of the year.
My name is Austin or is something.
Newark, Arkansas, played basketball for the Los Angeles Lakers.
We want to show those kids that it's possible to vote.
Live your dream.
Don't let anybody tell you anything different.
No good.
Yeah.
We couldn't we we always wanted to do something for the community and for the kids because, you know, Austin and I went to a lot of camps growing up.
So it was kind of a fun thing we like to do with our friends during the summer, where we could go and learn and have a lot of fun.
Spencer and I go back to college.
Him and I kind of came up with the idea of, you know, camp is a really good opportunity to give back to the community, not just in the Newark area where they're from.
That was one of our first things, you know, talking about, you know, we wanted to come back and do these camps.
Our camp is not just come in and play a bunch of games.
We really take pride in the development of the kids and the players.
They all have a different station of a certain basketball skill.
They'll teach.
And and we have some excellent coaches that come from all over the country.
And, and I trust what they're going to teach them at their certain stations.
And when we break up and play with the kids, the one coach will do shooting one coach Duke ball handling and then defensive spacing.
So you give them the general idea of what you want them to teach to the kids.
And you kind of just let them create what they want to create.
Mostly about learning the big game of basketball is learning spacing learning terminologies for the game of basketball.
You know, we're looking for what is, one more picture.
So just knowing the game and just being, taught the game the right way.
I really focus on the kids who are just going to pick up the energy.
You know, they encourage the other kids.
And like if I say, hey, you got to make ten.
The kids are counting the loudest, you know, and they just, like, bring the energy to every girl that we're doing.
One of our coaches out there was a camper for us three years ago.
The camp was really good for building a little bit of community with your group that you were with, and I remember there's a few of them there that later in the season we would play and I would always say, you know, a little conversation with them and I still keep up with them.
Now getting out and seeing other places, seeing other people, leading other people.
Billy bonds with these other people.
And hopefully Arkansas can just have more opportunities for kids like this.
Sports can bring people through all walks of life.
You know, it doesn't matter.
Ethnicity, anything.
Like everybody can bond over all sports.
The whole point and the main focus is as the community and trying to open different opportunities for players that not only have the ability to do so, but don't have as much opportunity as others as well.
There's always been a lot of talent in Arkansas.
Give these kids an opportunity to see in real life that their dreams don't have to just be dreams that could go make them reality.
They just got to work really hard to is.
I just know I love the game of basketball.
I love impacting young kids lives.
But.
But yeah, just don't let anybody tell you anything different.
If they do, don't listen to them.
And if I did, I wouldn't be in the position I am today.
So it's really just about showing them that if possible, to do what they want to do, like Cedar Ridge is, is kind of unheard of.
We just want to do it together to show that, like, it doesn't matter where you come from, doesn't matter your background, you know, where you grow up.
It doesn't matter if you work hard and and it doesn't even necessarily have to do with basketball.
It can be life lessons towards anything.
It can be sports, it can be work.
Just that if you work hard enough and you're persistent at doing that, you can be successful in life.
Spencer and Austin's message is clear it doesn't matter where you come from or what obstacles you face.
With hard work and determination, dreams can become a reality.
We celebrate these homegrown heroes who remind us that success isn't just about where you go, but about remembering where you came from and lifting others along the way.
Now let's toss it over to Christina.
She's going to introduce you to some very hardworking student athletes.

Back here at Banco ZK arena.
About a minute and a half til we get back to action as Earl leads the one AA girls state championship game 38 to 29.
I'm RJ Hauschka along with Wes Moore, and West had a lot of highlights there in the first half.
West Side Greers Ferry got off to a really good start.
They led this game 15 to 11, and gentry was one reason why she had two three pointers and six free throws.
Cornett has ten points also for West Side ten of their 29.
In fact, they've combined for 22 of the 29 points.
But Earl and their defense became the story in the second quarter, forcing turnover after turnover.
West side has 15 turnovers.
That's led to 24 points off those turnovers.
And then Earl got hot from the three point line.
They started over seven.
Since then they've made five of their last 11 shots.
Five of 11 is really good shooting percentage from the three point line.
But for the game five of 18 which is just 27%.
But and like I said in the second quarter alone, five of 11 behind the three point line.
That's a 45.5% percentage from the three point line.
Look at that run 15 oh run.
And that was the start the second quarter.
That's how the quarter started.
The first quarter was not very good for Earl.
They were trying to get a groove and just couldn't find their way.
And then it's like they came out the second quarter and it was a different team.
Well, they turned up the pressure about four notches.
I've talked to several coaches this week on, out of bounds on the zone or on three seven the buzz.
And I said, sometimes it takes the team about a quarter to relax and start playing the way they know how to play in.
I think we saw that with Earl.
Maybe they were just a little tight.
They settled down and then that defensive pressure just picked off and it was dominant in the second quarter.
You and I have been doing games here for a long time, and we've seen some really good teams that have traditionally throughout the year just been dominant.
But once they get under the lights here, Bangkok, it's just a little bit different.
Yeah.
I've had coaches say, you know first media timeout.
That settles them down.
Sometimes it's a fourth quarter.
But Earl looked like a different team in the second quarter.
They get the ball first to start the second half.
Here's a three that hits off the side of the iron taken in by Kaylee Cornett.
And she'll bring it up for West Side.
She'll pull up for three and it's no good.
Offensive rebounds pulled in by Murphree.
And then put back that time by Cassie her excuse me.
That was gentry.
Earl slowly bringing it up.
We didn't see that very often in the second quarter.
There was not much walking in the second quarter for Earl with the basketball as Johnson kicks it.
Left side to glass for three.
It's no good.
Two hard ball goes out of bounds and it stays with Earl with 713 to play here in the third.
Just went off the hands of gentry.
Couldn't bring in that defensive rebound.
So we'll get another shot at it.
Oh.
Top of the key.
They go as they get it out to Jade.
Cheers.
Back over to maples.
Maples in the lane takes it left side of the glass.
She'll pull up.
It's no good.
Rebound pulled in by Cassie and cars is going to hit the deck hard.
And the balls and go out of bounds.
They last touched by Earl I well I don't know who touched last, but it may have been a make up call for contact coming up the up the floor.
Neither side of the fans were happy with that call.
Oh West side wanted to foul Earl so that should have been their ball back.
Left side over out to Murphree and ball's stolen away.
Taken by Jefferson.
Quick hands Jefferson with a lazy layup.
And that puts him in the 40s as it's now 40 to 29.
16 turnovers for West Side.
Look at that pressure.
Little defense.
Gentry with the basketball goes right side.
Swings it around back to Cassie Cassie lost the handle on it.
It's going to be taken by Johnson working quickly in the lane and couldn't hold on to it.
You know one thing Earl has done a really good job of is they've really defended Ashland, Cassie.
And anytime the ball gets in her hands, the double team has come and she's turned it over quite a bit.
Your Cassie started off really good for West Side.
May have had all of her seven points right there in the first quarter, but she was rebounding.
She was scoring.
She was blocking shots.
They've done a good job of trying to backdoor cut.
But her teammate now here's Earl left side to maples.
It's good.
And now we're going to get a timeout.
Charge the West side with 551 to play here in the third.
And Earl leading 42 to 29.
Pretty simple right here.
And you know that's what Coach Cornett was preaching at the half.
Just take care of the ball.
We take care of the ball.
We get good shots and you're making a shot.
We've been playing pretty good defense on Earl in the half court.
But this one is getting these turnovers these steals going getting in transition picking up the pace of the game.
That's where Earl's been dominant.
So take care of the ball.
But you know what you see over here at Earl's Court Jefferson right now.
Just keep telling him apply the pressure apply the pressure.
Just keep jumping.
Keep doubling.
Just get after him.
Play the defense.
We know we can play and you're going to be just fine.
Hey, it's time to take a look at our student all star.
And I tell you what.
Our student all star is a heck of a player as Maggie Tyrone from Norfolk.
She's a junior with a 3.5 GPA, trying to play college basketball and major in psychology.
That's Maggie, Tyrone and Chip Johnson just playing great defense.
They're having a hard time just getting the ball up the court.
Here's gentry has it swatted away.
And ball goes out of bounds.
It's going to go with Earl Jada Maples.
Fantastic play and block the shot that chases it down.
Throws it off the leg of the Lady Eagles.
530 to play.
And here in the third Earl on top 4229.
At the basketball Johnson bounce pass in the lane.
They go up.
The fouls called and it'll be a potential three point play.
Great pass for maples.
She caught it was very patient with it.
Defense kind of comes to her and finds a cutting teammate bounce pass right in there.
Free throw is no good.
And West Side thought it was two shots.
And here's a three from the corner for the spin champions.
They just took it away from her.
Just honestly she's going to hand it to the official off the glass.
No good.
Cause he's got it.
And now he's got a whistle and a foul on that.
Going back to that free throw, nobody from West Side move.
They just all stood there because they thought they were shooting two, when in fact it was only one one shot into the game on the West side.
It's a good look at it.
Yeah.
And just a lapse of thinking Cassie in the lane puts it up with two hands.
No good.
She's on the turf on the court.
West side gets the rebound.
Pulls up for three from the corner.
It's no good.
And now we've got a whistle and a foul.
Cassie took a hard fall.
She was fighting for that rebound a fell on her back and on her elbow.
And it's very slow to get up.
Fouls can be called against Whitley Goodson.
Just another great start to the quarter for Earl.
West side looking for their first points.
Now here's Jefferson and the ball knocked away by maples.
Picks it up comes back over to Jefferson.
From the free throw line it's maples.
No good.
Ball goes out of bounds.
And West side will get the basketball.
When you have a defense like Earl sometimes it's not a bad thing to be on defense.
It's been what's getting them their points on offense.
And now there's a foul called against Earl as Johnson's going to pick up the foul.
And Earl's in that full court press.
Now here's Cornett.
Cornett for three from the left wing.
No good rebounds pulled in by Jada maples.
Bounce pass left side off the glass.
Class B is good to 11.
Oh.
Run for Earl to start the second quarter.
They had a 15 oh run to start the second quarter.
Now here's gentry hard off the glass.
No good cause he's got and she goes up with it and she's fouled.
Causes a physical player.
But she is taking a lot of hits today.
And she's been thrown to the floor quite a bit.
I mean, not thrown, but you know, just hard contact that has made her go to the floor.
And we've got a media timeout.
347 to play.
Third quarter Earl 49 West side 29.

Back here at Bengazi Gay arena as Earl leads 4929.
Here's a look at Jada maples.
And really, it has been Jada maples and her team and Jenna maples right now 12 points Jefferson has 18 points for Earl for West Side.
Leading the way is gentry with 12.
And then cornets got ten.
He's got seven as causes at the free throw line and misses her first shot.
West side looking for their first points of the second quarter led by four after one.
And it's been all Earl since outscoring them 2714 in the second quarter and 11 nothing here.
Jefferson gives it back to Johnson.
Right corner to cheers for three.
No good ball is going to go out of bounds.
Last touch by West side.
How about Johnson getting in there trying to get that offensive rebound.
And just had to flick it away to keep her from getting it.
There's a three from the right wing in and out.
No good cause he pulls in the rebound.
Cornett into the frontcourt.
Drives the lane with the right hand.
It's good.
That'll get him on the board.
Much needed basket.
And get back into this game strong and play some defense.
You got to get some stops and take care of the ball.
Here's right side to Johnson.
They go down low with the ball is deflected away.
Taken by Cassie.
Now has deflected away.
Is that time Macy Gentry had it deflected away.
Bounce pass in the lane.
But there's a block that time by corner.
And there is a whistle and a foul.
By the way that last score by West Side.
That was their first points of the quarter.
And right side 11.
Oh run to start the second half a couple more chances.
Johnson's been to the free throw line three times.
She was two for three now two for four.
Into the game for the lady.
Size cheers.
This is Johnson Johnson.
That was her first free throw attempt of the game.
Second free throws no good as pulled in by Cassie.
Now here's Cornett.
Cornett in the lane.
Right hand.
Two hard rebounds pulled in by Earl.
And we've got a whistle and a foul against Cornett.
Basketball.
That is two quick fouls in this quarter.
She don't have any in the first half.
So she's still okay.
230 to play here in the third as class B walks it back over to Johnson.
And now we've got a whistle on another foul.
This time it's going to go against Macy Gentry.
That'll be the fifth team foul this quarter.
Trying to pick up five quickly and efficiently on the Lady Eagles and two guys.
So Jada Maples is going to be the one shooting the free throws.
Maples has not been to the free throw line yet.
As a first one's no good can make two free throws.
It's three in a row.
They've missed that chance to put a nail in this thing.
Spins way back in that free throw line, you know sets a good foot behind it.
Not you know most people get right there on top of the line.
And so I'm gonna get some space.
Now here's Cornett.
Cornett takes it.
Left side walks around a screen from Cassie Baccus.
She'll pull up for three.
It's no good.
Rebounds pulled in that time by Jefferson.
Under two minutes to play here in the third quarter 11 two.
The score this quarter.
Maples left side.
It's the hands of Jefferson and Jefferson trying to drive baseline.
Got fouled Foul's going to be called against Whitley Goodson Jefferson will head to the free throw line.
That's team foul number six for West Side this quarter.
The two is number three attorney general.
So Jurnee Jefferson at the line one of two from the charity stripe today as she misses her first.
They are now three for 11 at the free throw line.
Second one's no good.
Rebounds pulled in by gentry.
And six straight free throws.
They miss you.
Think about you making your free throws.
All the sudden it's a 25 point lead.
Completely different.
Yes.
As the ball was deflected out of bounds.
And it'll stay with West Side minute 33 to play in the third.
Hey maybe you can hear the fans behind us yelling let's speed it up.
Speed it up.
That's the complete opposite.
What West side Nelson do they want to just keep slow.
Methodical game methodical game.
Gentry goes down low with it.
Spin move in the lane.
Can't get it to go that time by Macy Gentry.
And now we've got a jump ball and possession.
Arrow stays with West Side.
They got going a little run here at the end of the second quarter.
Third quarter to try to get this 19 point lead down to about 1514.
Have a shot there in the fourth quarter.
There's the three from the corner by Cornett.
And Cassie was right there to get it.
She put it up.
She's fouled.
Her open stopped that it was all ball but got her on the wrist.
The maples went up I thought she got all ball.
Her reaction quickly showed what she thought of it.
There's a good look at the replay.
Cassie knocks down her free throws.
She's four six now from the free throw line.
She's got 11 rebounds.
She's on her way to a double double.
Nine points 11 rebounds.
Solid game for Cassie.
And now we've got a officials timeout.
Yeah they're going to check with the scorers table.
And the scoreboard says 33.
And the changes on the official stats don't know what they're looking for.
Maybe the clock maybe clock didn't start there I'm not sure.
We're positioned on the opposite side.
So I have no idea.
But they're going to say a minute three is on the clock instead of a minute seven.
So Earl's got it.
As Johnson gives it over to Maple shoulders, the handle was taken by Cornett.
Cornett into the lane, hard pass over the goods.
And the right there was Stevens, and she tried to go up the shot and got fouled.
So she had to the free throw line.
Shoot two.
Blocks and go.
You got down 17.
You get a chance here.
Make your free throws.
Get down to 15.
Get a stop.
Hit another basket before the end of the quarter.
Maybe have a ball game.
Want to have a chance.
You know you want it to be close in the fourth quarter.
You know nerves come into factor.
It is a title game.
Second free throws good.
You know on the flip side on the free throw standpoint Watts has been pretty good at the free throw line 12 of 14 so far on the day.
13 possession.
Nice little run going.
Here's her three from the left corner.
It's too hard.
Offensive rebound putback.
No good.
Balls on the turf.
And jump ball.
Ball is down the court.
They're both scrambling for the possession.
Arrow is going to stay with Earle with 21 seconds.
Play here in the third Earl was all over the glass that time.
Just didn't have enough bodies for West Side to hold it for that last shot.
Here's Jefferson.
Bounce pass goes to the top of the key Abbie.
Glass back in the lane.
Ball's deflected by Kazee down to eight seconds over to Cornett.
Cornett goes up with a right hand.
Two hard courts.
He's there.
She's fouled.
Now it's not a shooting foul so she'll have it.
Well so not two because that's her 16 foul.
There we go.
So now she'll go to the free throw line where today she's been five of seven from the free throw line.
Number 20.
All their points coming in at the free throw line here recently.
She has five straight free throws.
They missed their last five shots from the field.
In fact they haven't hit a shots from the field since 311 left.
But Sony that's a free throw line.
That's six straight free throws to make this a 13 point lead.
As the last second shot's up and no good.
And that's how we end the third quarter of play.
They lead it 50 to 37.
In the one eight girls state championship game.

I love the name.
I can't wait for some couples tacos.
Here is Cornett as she puts up a shot.
It's no good.
And the rebound is pulled in by Earl as we're just underway here in the fourth quarter.
Left side goes Earl and Bisbee.
There going to be a tough team to try to pressure because they can handle the ball.
They got the speed.
Get it down the court.
You saw that they were trying to get a steal in the back court.
But it left him vulnerable.
Got the easy layup.
With the basketball is gentry.
Now back out the car.
Nice cut in the lane by gentry to be able to get the bucket.
And that will take it to 5239.
Got a little back screen.
She just rolled to the basket and wide open for the layup.
It's good play.
Now Earl with the basketball Jefferson.
She'll get tripped up and it's going to be a foul this time.
The foul is going to go against Lily Stevens.
That is her second foul on Stevens.
That quarter alone you know you hit it on the free throws.
Earls four of 15 from the free throw line.
Oh for five.
That half.
Yeah that's all the numbers 115 of 17 by their updates is now 15 of 17 for West Side at the free throw line.
Earl was his fourth 1301 for seven.
Now make it one for eight.
This half.
Cornett works around the screen goes the lane, has a blocked out of bounds.
Stays with west side.
See the athleticism from Jaden Maples?
The length.
She just calmly kind of wrote her down and blocked the shot.
Here's Cassie in the lane with a right hand.
Nice move right there.
Gives her a what third 13 and 15.
13 points, 15 rebounds.
Maples works right side for Earl as they give it off over to glass.
Ball deflected away by Costa and taken up for West Side.
Back over to gentry.
She'll pull up for a deep three hits no good.
Balls deflected.
Stays with West Side.
Off the glass and good.
Here's a foul called.
Big bucket for Cassie.
Number two needed a big play from her.
They got it.
Not only gets the offensive rebound puts it back.
Now she goes to the free throw line.
Chance for an old fashioned three point play to make it a ten point lead.
That's 15 points for Cassie.
Free throws.
No good.
Rebounds pulled in by Jade.
Cheers.
But I'll tell you, West, slowly this lead is down to 11.
West I made a small adjustments on defense and said 2 or 3.
They're going one, three, one ball to be thrown out of bounds and will go with West Side.
Jada Maples was trying to drive and kick drove in.
Brought the defense two of them which kicked it out.
Just a bad pass into the corner.
There's Cornett over to head.
Fake with a right hand.
Can't get it to go.
Rebound pulled in by West side.
Saved from going out of bounds.
Gentry puts it up.
Catches there.
Goes off the glass.
It's good.
Costly.
Putting them on her back right now.
Takes it down to a nine point lead for Earl.
530 to play here in this ballgame.
And now a timeout charge to Earl as Earl leads 5445 for a 32nd timeout.
West the the comeback by West West side.
What what's really changed the defensive pressure for Earl that they had that second quarter.
It doesn't seem like it's been as effective here in the second half.
West side slowed the game down making it a half court type game.
But to do that you've got to be able to run your offense and take care of the ball well.
That's what they've been doing.
They haven't been turning it over nearly as much during this run, and they're getting good shots, or they're going to the free throw line and making the free throw.
Earl has gotten a lot of their points off of turnovers 28 of their points, 28 of their 54.
So more than half of their points coming off of turnovers and to take care of the ball, make Earl run their offense, which you've done a good job of defending their offense.
You got a shot.
And we've talked about throughout the game that free throw 15 of 18 for West Side 414 so far for Earl.
Here's maples in the lane with the left hand gets it to go.
That's what you your star player supposed to do right.
She's going to Missouri.
You get crunch time like that.
You work it into her.
She makes a play.
Now here's Cornett off the handle on her briefly.
And now West Side is going to call a timeout.
It'll be a 32nd timeout.
The pressure I mean Cornett just lost the ball a little bit.
Kicked it was able to get it right before it went out of bounds.
But then she was going to be trapped there.
So heads up call right in to by coach Keith Cornett.
Call timeout so far.
Earl in the game shooting 44%.
West side 30%.
Earl's 25 of 50 shooting.
West side is 13 of 44 when it comes to three point shooting.
Earl six of 24 for 25% and West sides four of 16 for 25%.
But the turnovers I mean, you talked about all game.
West sides had 19 turnovers to Earl's nine.
Yeah Earls dominated the turnover category in the points off turnovers.
The only the only way that they're in Earl or I'm sorry West sides in this game right now because the Free-Throw line now they've taken 18 free throws Earl 14.
Earl's made for four of 14 West sides made 15 of 18.
And you know what's really impressive I was just looking at the the rebounding numbers West sides out rebounding.
Earl right now 3829.
As just if you're just watching the game, you would think that Earl would be leading that category just because the pressures they've had throughout.
I think that's costly right there.
She has 17 rebounds 17 points.
That's a heck of a double double.
She's got a chance to have a 2020 in the state championship game.
So here is Lily Stevens off the inbound.
And the ball's going to deflected away.
It's gonna be taken by Earl with the basketball Johnson.
And she'll bake it off the glass.
That's all right cause another turnover.
Got a steal.
Took it the length of the court layup.
Their best offense is their defense.
So here's Kornet trying to get the ball over out to Murphy.
And the ball is going to go out of bounds.
They're going to say there was a push.
And it's going to stay with West Side.
The push is going to go against journey Jefferson.
Her side continues to work.
Two fouls.
Oh no.
Well they said two shows three on the scoreboard for this quarter.
That could will come into play at the end of the game.
Free throws.
Here's Kornet in the lane with the right hand.
It's no good.
Rebound pulled in by maples.
Maples gets out traffic gives it up to Johnson.
Left side to class B. It's no good.
Offensive rebound.
Ball's deflected.
But then there's a foul as fouling.
That time was lady Gentry.
They were just outnumbered on the defensive end.
Earl quickly got the ball up the court and they had a three on two shot was no good.
But had more rebounders down there.
There's three threes.
No good.
Now second in the ball game for West Side is Whitley Goodson.
She'll come in for Aiden Murphy.
Replay showed your hands came down.
Got to keep your hands straight up in the air.
Second free throws no good offensive rebound off the glass it goes.
There was glass speed.
How big is that.
They just missed two more free throws.
But they get the offensive rebound.
Put it back.
You back out to a 15 point lead.
Ball's on the floor.
Taken by Cassie.
Good job by Cassie.
Just kind of pulled it out a little bit.
They relax.
Floater in the lane right there.
It was Goodson who tried to go for the shot.
And she's fouled to join the free throw line.
Shoot two.
That is good.
And that should take us to a media timeout.
As we're at the four minute mark here in the ball game where West Side leaves or excuse me Earl leads West side 60 to 45.

Well, we're back at Benkovic Arena and you could see the fans of West Side there.
They're trying to get ready to close out this ball game.
Do they take home a state championship or do they become the runner up this year after winning last year?
Right now Earl leads at 6245 and Earl got a taste.
The state championship.
You know last time West we told you about it.
The last time Earl and Boys and Girls won a state title was back in 2018 trying to do it again, and they had a chance last year.
But West Side denied the Earl girls from doing the getting the double.
But right now it's Earl on A60 run.
West side got it down to nine.
Had a nice little run but Earl a couple of layups.
Been able to increase the lead to 15.
You think about it.
They got the ball in to maples.
Made a good move after the timeout.
Increased it to 11.
Then they got a steal and the layup got it to 13.
That offensive rebound off a missed free throw for another layup.
Gets it back up to a 15 point game.
Two crucial missed free throws though for West Side.
Here's class B crosscourt pass out to Jefferson in the lane.
They're to get it.
Be going to the free throw line to shoot one.
That might be it right there.
Big play from Jordy Jefferson for Jefferson.
Gets her 20th point of the game.
Free throws no good.
Rebounds pulled in by West Side.
Here's Cornish in the lane with a right hand.
She gets it to go.
What a. Girl can take their time.
Now.
Just limit the number of possessions left in this game.
Going down low the foul.
And that time Madison Dunn will head to the free throw line to shoot.
The foul that time when against Whitley Goodson.
And for Goodson at is her second foul as a free throws no good one for 12 this half oh for five in the fourth quarter.
Four for 18 for the game.
If they if they had made their free throws this this game would have been well out of hand.
Well out of hand.
Well she gets her second.
Here's Kornet for three now and she's going to bury it at the basket.
Down to a 13 point.
Lead it up to 17 points.
Left corner for three.
That time it was Jurnee Jefferson knocking it down turning with 23 points.
Now here's Kornet in the lane over to Goodson.
She'll throw it up.
It goes good step.
The speed of the game is starting to pick up as we're down to 240 to play there.
One to work in a little bit.
I say that they take the three when you're feeling it, go ahead and pull it.
Jurnee Jefferson once again knocking down the three point shot five of 11 from three today.
And now we've got a charge against Jurnee Jefferson on this.
But cornets down.
She got tripped up and landed on the basketball.
She landed on the ball.
Probably knocked the breath out of her.
Didn't help any that she was tall for a charge that made it more painful.
So.
Cornet is going to make her way off the off the court and a check in the ball game going to be Macie Gentry.
Now, who's going to be their primary ball in the passing?
And now we're going to West Side is going to call a timeout.
Time to head coach.
Coach cornet still talking to the officials obviously did not like the charge call coming around.
Is that right?
Yes.
That is so.
224 to play here in the ball.
Earl leads at 6952 oh here's another look at it blocking here.
This is it was established.
No she did handle that ball.
Yeah I can see why they're upset on the charge.
Call.
You're still having a discussion.
Call me please.
Also I don't forget coming up next.
We've got the two a boys game.
This ought to be a fun game.
You'll have, Earl here for that one as well.
They'll be taking on the Clairton Lions in that ball game that's set for 145.
Okay.
Anything else?
Wasn't right here on Arkansas TV.
Clarendon in the finals in 2014 and 2019, but lost both times.
Good team from Clarendon, 22 and five this season.
Two of their losses came to Barton, who will be playing later today.
Linton playing some stiff competition all 27 and four.
And now it looks like we've got a technical foul.
Hey, let him talk and talk and talk.
And he finally had enough.
And that's the technical foul is going to go against Coach Cornett for West Side to continue taking place.
And so Jada Maples is going to shoot the technical shots.
Free throws good.
Mayfield's two of three from the free throw line.
Maples got 15 points eight rebounds.
He had 1617 points eight rebounds for the Missouri signings George Jefferson leading the way today.
She has got 26 points journey, I should say.
Jurnee Jefferson sliding it up from the three point line five of 11.
But that how about the I know she's got she tried another one.
I missed that one because he's going to pull up pull it down not to the airball.
When near the two minute mark.
Go left side with it in the hands of gentry working.
Throw it down the court.
He went over her head.
And it's going to be taken by Earl.
It's a difficult entry pass to someone posting up coach Stone.
His girls pull it out.
As soon as Johnson started dribbling it, he lost his mind.
He's like, no, pull it out.
Johnson with the ball down a minute.
35 left here in the ball game.
Down to nine seconds on the shot clock.
Jefferson's crosscourt pass into the hands of Johnson over to Jada maples.
And she's going to be able to knock it down before the buzzer goes off.
That is how you execute at the end of the game.
You use every second of the shot clock and then make a jumper.
Everything you wanted, you accomplished right there.
Here is Cassie with the hook underneath left side ball's on the court can be taken by Earl down to a minute to play left here in the ball game.
Had a chance to run off another 25 seconds.
Earl fans standing up.
Now they know the state championship is theirs.
Johnson back right side to cheers.
And now Earl head coach Steven Jefferson going to call time.
I think he's going to put a lot of players in the game room.
Will get some action.
Yeah he's emptying the bench and let these five girls here the the applause from their fans because they played a heck of a game in the game.
So check in the ball game for Earl.
You've got to Murray Madison pounds McCosker Taylor and Kennedy hitting.
As for West Side by side is going to put in Mia Duncan along with Emma Murphy, Sadie Davis, Haley McClain and Lacey Tudor also in for team having standards.
Looking at the updated numbers for turnovers 22 to 9 points off turnovers 34 to 12.
That's a 22 point difference and it's a 21 point game.
It looks like a new set of five for Earl.
So you got a Nya miller and the ball game and the year before, along with Madison Pounds and Christian Boykin and throw down to 35 seconds to.
Boykins going to take a left side and shot clock violation with 29.2 seconds and West side will have the basketball as ladies.
Lacey Tudor's going to inbound it.
She'll give it off to Emma Murphy.
Murphy goes right side with it now down low into the hands of Sadie Davis and Sadie Davis.
Able to get on the board.
On the 13 seconds.
It was going to hold it.
And that's going to do it.
The one eight state championship is headed back to rural Arkansas as their year 2026 state champions in girls basketball.
Let's dive deep for.
Your final score in this one.
Earl 73, West side 54.

He'll go down the left side.
One man to beat.
He'll walk in the end zone for a touchdown.
Here's a running lane at the five.
He'll walk it.
Touchdown!
There we go.
In the S five baseball championship court hit once again down the left field line.
Double and score for nothing down here.
The wall is gone.
Three run home.
Power of two.
This is big.
Time to dig in and get the job done.
NC Freeman with the big swing from the right side, she puts down another kill.
All that hard work finally paid off.
She tries to go crosscourt.
Nobody home right in the middle.
And don't go anywhere because we've got a lot in store for you.
Here's the Arkansas PBS Student All Stars class of 2024.
Unified team is special Olympic partners and peer partners.
Friends, I say I owe this one.
It's just incredible to watch how they have been impacted by this experience.
You know, the biggest contribution was the adoption of the Razorbacks and a whole sense of pride for this state and for this university.
What a game it was.
It's an exclamation point for the full time Arkansas team.
That goes in whether you're champs, the Earl Lady Bulldogs as they were able to pull it off and win the ball game today and.
I mean just a great defensive performance today by their old Lady Bulldogs was so impressive.
All the turnover steals points off turnovers Stephen Jefferson their head coach joins us now.
Coach that was a key I mean you guys turned off the defensive intensity.
It started the second quarter went on a 15 oh run I believe it was and never looked back.
Yeah we all year we come in kind of pride in ourselves.
Well playing great defense.
These girls know how to play defense just about you know what I'm saying?
If we can get the steal and score off of it today, we was able to see it.
I, I told I said, hey, go ahead and watch how Arkansas State play.
They get up and down the court and they shoot the three at amazing clip.
I said, that's the way we're going to win the game.
And we do that.
And we going to pull it out.
We're going to be victorious.
Coach there in the first half, you guys got off to a bit of a slow start in the first quarter.
And West now we're talking.
That second quarter is really when you turn it on.
Defensively, it seemed like everything was starting to click a little bit for you.
Yeah it's been like that all season man.
They gotta be going crazy in the first quarter.
But I'd be trying to get the girls amped up and ready to play.
I think they was ready to play.
But you know, being on this stage, man, these lights are bright and you never know what to expect.
How much did last year's loss fueled this year's team?
I tell you what, it was so bad.
I think today would be the first day I could go back and watch that film.
I have not watched the state game from last year.
I couldn't make myself watch it, but today I'm gonna watch it last year and was this year and I'm gonna say it back.
It's a popcorn man.
And have a good time.
Hey, coach.
Congratulations.
I guess you can stick around, watch the boys now.
Are you.
Are you better?
No way we going to be here to support it.
It's like a second home for us.
When we come out.
We feel nothing but hospitality when we come back.
And we can make our come down screen.
Hey.
Well, congratulations.
And, I think the radio guys now going to want to talk to you a little bit.
Thank you, thank you.
That is head coach Stephen Jefferson for the Bulldogs and West I mean, by the way, if you want to get your championship game, gear, go to Arkansas high school sports.com, and you can be able to do that right there.
But, it's kind of interesting.
He's not watched last year's game at all.
And he's sitting watching now.
So now being joined by Jaden Maples, the MVP of this state championship game.
And Jada, what a way to close out your career and Earl with the state championship.
Your thoughts on on this game and then getting the win.
I think we came out really good.
We did really well coming down in the first quarter and we just couldn't really win.
What was the difference?
The defensive intensity was picked up.
I mean, it was amped up big time.
Was that from coach?
Was that from y'all?
Just from us.
We played away just the way we played pick up 94ft and that's how we play.
It kind of seemed like going in early in this ballgame.
You guys had a goal to shut down Ashland Cassie for West Side there.
You know you guys had the double teams playing on her.
You shut her down early, then you got the three ball working.
Yeah, that was my job to shut her down early so she could stop getting shots to get going.
And I think I did a good at doing it.
Can you, describe the feelings last year at this time?
Today, we were just ready to come out and play.
Since we came up short last year, I think we did really well and I'm just so happy that we won.
Now you guys, do you get to watch the guys play a state championship game 2018 didn't know if you know this or not.
Was the last time the girls and the guys won a state championship.
Ought to be a lot of fun.
Yeah, should be a lot of fun.
They will get the win, I know.
Hey, congratulations.
We got a prediction.
Yeah, we got a pretty just called it.
And good luck in Missouri.
Thank you so much.
Absolutely.
That is Jada Maples your MVP for the state championship as Earl.
They win this one.
Coming up next you've got the two a boys game.
And that's going to be a great one between Earl and Claire.
And final thoughts West Berkshire.
You answered the one.
Yeah the defense man it was impressive Earl speed quickness all right.
It was just tenacious defense and created so many turnovers steals easy baskets.
And I mean that's the difference in the ball game.
Points off turnovers.
World's best offense was their defense.
And that defense was great this afternoon.
Well stick around.
We've got a lot of basketball over the next three days.
But it's the one eight boys final play.
Arden and Earl coming up next.
As you've been watching the Centennial Bank state basketball championships on Arkansas TV sports.
