Well, welcome in to the one, a state championship game for softball between Scranton and Taylor.
It is great to be with you Alyssa Orange alongside JP Brazil.
And we are getting ready to get this game going.
We were supposed to start at 1 p.m., but we had a little bit of weather that push things back, but not too much.
45 minutes is nothing to complain too much about and we are ready here with a dry sky.
So far still a little cloudy JB, but so far dry and we're hoping to stay that way as we get this thing going.
Between the Lady Rockets and the Lady Tigers.
A better late than never.
And this is one of the highly anticipated matchups.
And what a softball.
These two teams know each other very well.
Yes they do.
And two teams that have met before in this state championship game that was back in 2025, the last time that the Scranton Lady Rockets were here.
They lost to the Tigers ten to nothing.
And they played the following year last year in the semifinals, of course, Taylor looking for their ninth straight state championship.
All they do is win over there literally JB and it's been pretty impressive to see.
But for the Lady Rockets this is what they've got to do.
Yeah I mean it's execute right.
Do the small things.
You can't have errors.
You can't have free passes.
You've got to be able to execute with runners on base.
Also timely hitting is going to be huge.
Yeah it is.
It's going to be very very huge and very critical as they will see if they can get on the board first offensively.
How about for the Tigers.
Yeah you know for for Taylor doing what they do.
There's a lot of pressure and they know that.
So they're going to have to figure out ways to play clean.
Also you can't let you know Scranton come back but make them beat you do their thing and limit the big innings man.
You just got to make sure when Scranton gets their offense going, limit it.
You know they're probably going to get some hacks out there.
Just make sure it's not too much.
And I think for the Tigers too they've been in this situation as we mentioned time and time again don't let the pressure don't let the moment be too big.
Just go out there and execute the way that you have all season long.
Aniston Nulty is your pitcher for the Tigers in the circle.
We're going to talk a lot about her throughout the day, but let's get it going here with Katie Vander Heide.
So excited for this matchup.
I think this is one that a lot of people have circled this week.
And these two teams so well known at the one day ranks.
Absolutely.
As I mentioned, Katie von der Heide is going to lead things off.
Then Marissa Harrington, Legs Delaney, Maynor, Mackenzie Croft, Bracken, Maynor, Emmy Pierce, Morgan Lansing, Jo Zoe Green, and Addie Leis.
That is your lineup one through nine for the Lady Rockets as well.
You know, we talked to coach McHenry before the game.
And you know it's a lot of these players were sixth graders was the last time that Taylor had won a state title.
They know the pressure is there.
They don't want to be the team that doesn't win at the end of the streak.
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, nobody wants to end that streak, right?
And of course, coach McHenry said it's inevitable it will end just like everything does.
But you never want to be that team to do that.
And so there's a lot of pressure but also expectations.
And they try to stay loose as much as they can right now.
They take it very seriously, but not too, too seriously where they're almost playing tennis.
And so we have seen Aniston Nulty.
She's been in this situation before and she has had some success now with a full count here against Katie Vander High.
That one fouled back to stay alive man.
She's fighting at the dish.
You love to see that from Vander Heide.
Really aggressive first baseman defense.
So good.
But our offense too.
You could tell why she bats at the top of the lineup.
She's a tough out.
She is.
And let's talk about who is around Aniston.
Nulty Macy Downs playing third base Jesse Sayers at shortstop, Heidi Barr at second base, and Adley Buford at first.
As Katie Vander High takes her walk, workshops is behind the plate.
Callie McHenry is in left, Jenna Braswell in center and Carson Langley in right field.
So a runner on.
For the rockets and in steps, Marissa Harrington lays a good hitter is Harrington.
Lays a 402 average but a 444 OBP.
And there's a lot of players in this lineup one through nine that have a really high batting average and OBP.
That one in there for a strike by Nulty.
Is just getting one.
And another strike.
And we have seen this for the last couple of games JB pitcher trying to work that outside corner.
Because if they're going to get that call and they're going to figure it out early, they're going to continue to go out there if they can.
And you see back there, Brooke Schultz setting up way outside of the batter's box, just trying to see if they can get Marissa Harrington lanes to chase.
Nulty walked the first batter right.
So she's trying to settle in.
She's trying to work quickly, build a little bit of a rhythm and work done.
Outer edge as you mentioned that is a really good piece of heading there by Harrington.
Lays just a foul that one off.
And again all those pitches just on that outside corner getting her to chase.
And the best thing you can do is foul it off to see another one.
Yeah I like the approach to I mean for Scranton that's been the idea coach Bateman knows.
Hey they're pitching outside.
Try to go with it.
Find it off.
Certainly.
But if you get one that's maybe closer over the plate trying to go to the right field.
I like the approach.
We talked about all of the success that Taylor has had so great and looking for their third title.
They had 1 in 15 in 2009.
As I mentioned, the last time they were here was in 2024.
They also were here in 2017 and lost to Taylor as well.
So trying to change things up is Scranton.
And again, Taylor just trying to continue to do what they do best win win win.
No matter what.
There's a song about that I believe.
I think it was written about the Taylor Tigers softball program.
In fact, I might be wrong, sure, but just a guess, right?
So again, Harrington lays fouling that off, staying alive and battling.
And that's what you want to do to try to set the tone offensively here in the top of the first.
If you are Scranton just go after Nulty and make her pitch to you.
Gets that one with the rise ball and a foul tip and outnumber one.
So that is a strikeout for Nulty and Delaney Maynor who was really just the heart and soul of this team.
The senior steps up to the plate.
Yeah our player to watch.
That's a great pitch from Nulty I mean rising up not enough for you know her to get a connection on that.
But that's the first.
And it's always big as a pitcher to get that out.
It doesn't get easier though.
As we mentioned Delaney made our player to watch.
She is she's legit.
Well she is legit and she's also just a good teammate all around.
Has been with this program as a senior, getting to play with her sister Brecken Maynor this season, a highlight to finish her softball career because she's headed to the University of Arkansas to become a pediatrician.
I've got to do some pre-med look, looking a major in biology.
So this is her final softball game and hoping to see if she can get the Lady Rockets a state championship.
That one drilled to first base.
That looks like that was just caught.
Well done and executed there by Adley Buford.
Doubles up Katie Vander Heide at first.
And just like that, Taylor is out of the inning.
So we will see here if the Lady Tigers can get things going offensively.
As we head to the bottom of the first.
Nothing you could do there with that one.

Welcome back to the one AA State Championship between Taylor and Scranton.
Good to be with you.
As we have started this one, just a little late, but we are now in the bottom of the first.
Just want to let you know that over on the baseball side of things, Taylor and Mount Ida continuing to battle here over at Babe Ruth Field.
The softball game here at Majestic Park taking place at Jackie Robinson Field.
Delaney maner, we talked about her in the last half inning.
She will be the starter on the circle here for the Lady Rockets and the battery today.
Maynor and Morgan lensing.
Aniston Nulty going to start things off for the Tigers followed by Kelly McHenry, Macy Downs, Heidi Barr, Jess Lee Sayers, Adley Buford, Brooke Stoltz, Jenna Braswell and Carson Langley around the infield at third base for Scranton McKenzie Croft Brecken Maynor is at shortstop, Amy Pierce at second base, and Katie Vander Heide at first.
Addie Lake is Marissa Harrington, Laz and Emily Kramer.
Rounding out your outfield.
It's a good defense, but a really good offense to a leadoff hitter hit 507 is Nulty tone setter at the top of the lineup?
Nice.
And right now we're just looking to see if maner can kind of settle in here.
I mean, we saw an instant Nulty a season ago in the circle, kind of just doing the exact same thing.
And so another year older, just another year more polished.
And she has been able to just continue to be consistent for this Taylor Tigers team.
Yeah.
One of the better players in all of one and arguably in the state.
She's just got it going both ways a dual athlete in terms of pitching hitting defense.
She's got it going on.
And hey a base runner for Taylor to start.
Yeah she'll take it.
That is a four pitch walk to Nulty to get things going.
And she finds herself on first base.
Kelly McHenry steps up the left fielder here for the Tigers.
Coaches daughter to with that 452 average.
And it's a really good hitter out of that two spot.
And you're seeing here with Maynor pitcher.
We saw Nulty first batter struggled through.
You know to find the zone.
Sometimes you just got to settle in a little bit.
And Mainers just looking to find that strike calm down and then attack.
All right.
Still just trying to find a little bit of a grip.
As we mentioned it had been raining a lot earlier today.
It is not raining right now, but that doesn't mean the turf is not still a little bit wet.
These fields here at Majestic Park drained so well, don't they?
Which is why we've been able to get so many games in here, despite the way the weather's been the last couple of days.
But even in there it is for a strike and a foul foul tip.
You also still that I mean, when the ball hits the ground, it's going to get wet.
So you still have to be able to try to dry things off, dry your hands off and get a good grip on the softball.
You're going to see it on throws fielding slide.
You're going to slide a little further to that one.
Fouled back by McHenry A22 count.
Now here for the left fielder.
Both of these schools are powerhouses I mean Scranton is looking for their third state title in school history.
Taylor is looking for their 12th but their ninth in a row.
Melissa.
That's insane.
Yeah.
I mean, when you put that into a, perspective, my son will be nine in August.
So I remember like, man, that was 2017 was their last first when that streak started in 2017.
You know, you put it into perspective like that.
You're like, man, I've got a kid that old.
There's a good approach from McHenry to walk that walk.
And you're talking about the, you know, the legacy that you build.
Good friend of mine, Laura Lane, was actually a part of the very first one that started the nine, not the very, very first title, but the one that started this, the 2017, the 2017 team.
There's some legit players from Taylor.
Yeah.
And again, I mean that's all these girls know.
They grow up not only just playing softball but again their counterparts in front of us playing baseball.
That's just what they do down there in Taylor Maynor going in there for a strike.
The Tigers end of the regular season 23 and three overall going undefeated 14 zero in conference play.
Just another overall successful season for the Lady Tigers.
That one a little bit low for a ball for Scranton, too.
I mean, they've been dominant in softball other sports too.
I mean, they're a really good athletic school, but the academics sure are a priority there for the rockets.
Also, there are no stranger to the big stage.
That one flied high into shallow left center, not playable, and everyone is going to advance.
That one drops in front of Addie lays sometimes just nothing you can do.
Nicely placed there by Macy Downs and we've got bases loaded, no outs JB wow, a big time opportunity.
Downs got underneath this a ton.
She's hitting 579.
That's going to go down as a hit.
So flirting with a 600 average.
And this is what the Taylor offense can do.
Put it in play and then put the pressure on the defense.
Well that's one of the biggest things too I mean Macy Downs has five home runs.
So your outfield was playing a little bit deeper.
Try to respect her power.
And so for her to place that one in shallow left center, nicely executed.
No way anyone was going to get there in time.
It's important here too.
This is what you see the difference of.
I mean, Scranton in that last inning had a runner on sharply hit ball but right to a defender.
A tough luck play.
Taylor's having the ball drop their way and they're trying to do damage.
Now.
We talked about the last time these two teams met in the state championship game in 2024.
It was a mercy rule ten zero win for the Tigers.
This one popped up in foul territory for out number one.
An easy catch for the third baseman Mackenzie Croft.
So big for Maynor and Scranton to get that first out.
Just take a deep breath.
Yes.
Now it's not common to get a double play.
It's going to hit sharply.
But you would take a run given up here.
If you can get an out, just keep it rolling.
You'd love to get out of it unscathed, but that's a big first down.
If they can start this inning with bases loaded, no outs and get back into the dugout like you mentioned, with just maybe a run on the board, that's an absolute win for this Scranton defense.
But I talked about the last time these two teams met and it was a mercy rule win.
As I said, ten nothing for the Tigers and Scranton.
And we talked to Coach Bateman and asked her about it.
And she said, you know, we're just out here to prove that's not who we were.
That's not who we are.
So this is also a Scranton team that wants to get some respect.
As much respect as Taylor has in this sport.
Scranton Scranton wants to be able to say we deserve that as well.
And she talked about just playing sound softball, right.
It's just a small things.
Execute.
Don't make the stage too big and go out there and make it happen.
So far pitching has been good.
Taylor just made plays.
You can't give them any extra help though.
You got to attack.
Yeah, absolutely right.
All right so here we have Jess Sayers at the plate for the Taylor Tigers.
And she's got a hitter's count three nothing here against Delaney Maynor.
No place to put her either.
If you're Maynor you got to kind of throw the strike.
Likely going to be taking all the way.
So if you get a strike, then you can battle back with A31 count.
Right down the middle for that strike.
And now you've got a little bit of room to see if you can get her to change something and trust your defense.
Yep.
Trust your defense.
See if you can get this ball into a double play ball on the ground.
That one though rocketed off the glove of Addie lays the line.
Drive is going to score a run.
And then some.
In comes Addison Nulty.
Income's Callie McHenry well executed at bat there by Jesse Sayers to battle.
See the pitch she liked.
They're on a three run count.
Send it down the left field line.
Wow.
That was hammered by the freshman.
Are you kidding me?
Ninth grader Jesse Sayers tattoos that one off the left fielder's glove coming big time in a big moment.
And she just turned on that one perfectly.
The minute it came off the bat, you knew that was going to go somewhere and just off the tip of the top of the glove for Addie lays there in left field.
That's the danger that Taylor can do, right.
You get dunks on the pawn like that fall behind three one.
Not a whole lot Maynor can do is one trying to.
But then your margin for error is a lot thinner.
And that ball was smoked.
Adley Buford here.
The sophomore first baseman who made that double play at the top of the inning.
As you see Macy Downs now at third base.
She's batting 342 four home runs for her on the season.
It's not a bad miss at all for Maynor.
Really good pitch, as a matter of fact.
Must have just missed the bottom of the zone.
But I love that location.
That's a pitcher's pitch all day long.
That's.
How they can.
Award that one a little bit low for ball three.
So A31 count again here for Maynor.
Still just trying to find some placement and control with her pitches.
Buford is doing a good job of taking to the lowest OBP on the starting lineups for 22.
That's insane.
And they're going to award her the base for ball four.
And that is a walk.
And once again they find themselves with the bases loaded up.
Still one out that only out.
That foul ball popped up to McKenzie Croft in foul territory.
And Coach Bateman is just going to come out and talk to Maynard.
Yeah.
This is one of those more, you know, digging deep into your eyes and talking.
Hey we know you got your stuff.
You got it.
We can get out of this jam without any more coming across.
You're facing a freshman in Brooke Stultz, who has the lowest OBP of the starting nine at to for 22.
That's not low, Alyssa.
No, it's not, it's not.
But again, when you look at Delaney Maynor and how much she has meant to this team, she's a leader.
She's been here before.
Yeah.
She trusts her stuff.
And you just have to take a deep breath.
There was a little bit of delay.
They were able to stay loose.
She's got to trust her abilities and trust her defense.
Try to get out of this inning.
Yeah.
And also see what the umpire is going to give you.
That one just a little bit low.
I didn't hate that pitch a little bit below the knees though.
For ball one it seems like he's established it a little bit above that.
So going to have to live a little bit further up.
And he's not giving it there either.
But he's given the higher strike.
He's given a letter high.
So you just got to learn the zone of an umpire.
That's all.
That is not given his low but he's given higher.
Maybe utilize that.
Easier said than done.
Sure.
Trying to just get a good read on the umpire without giving them something straight down the middle that they can power.
This one popped up to Brecken Maynor at shortstop, and that is outnumber to a great piece of defense there to get the second out of the inning and see if they can get out of this bases loaded jam.
If Taylor has already got to in on a really big hit from Sayers.
But we go back to what we said earlier for Scranton.
Now, if you get out of this with only two nothing, you'll take that.
Certainly the damage could be a lot worse, but you'll live with that.
Jenna Braswell, the senior center fielder, stepping into the box, batting 288.
And we're going to talk about this, I'm sure, as this game continues.
But a lot of these ladies on this team don't just play softball.
We have some volleyball and basketball players as well.
Multi-sport athletes on this.
Taylor's roster, just like Scranton does on their roster as well.
That's right Taylor, we've got a ton of all conference volleyball, conference basketball, you name it.
All over the place, all conference everything.
They're just an all athlete high that one a little bit low.
Again for ball 2A21 count here on Braswell.
The problem for Maynor again she's trying to find the zone but she's fallen into too many hitters.
Counts.
No that's a good pitch.
That's that's what you need right there.
Two now at two and two you're back in that count.
Try to get a big out right here and get to the dugout.
Reset.
Let's see what she what she comes with here.
We got a little little high for ball three.
And now you have a full count.
No where to put her.
Trying to attack here.
The number eight batter in the lineup Jenna Braswell I liked that idea though.
Close to the zone at that one.
A foul ball off the foot of Braswell.
So everyone will come back and will do it again.
Braswell.
Just trying to get something going.
Stay alive here.
I know it's early to say this, but just the way that game can go and offense, you got to get roll and you feel like this batter right here could be a really pivotal point in the game.
Even though it's early for Scranton or Taylor.
Both.
I really think if you're Scranton and you can get out of this inning with a two nothing deficit, that is a win and that is ball four, unfortunately.
So in comes Macy Downs from third base for the third run of the game and the fourth walk.
Yeah that's Maynor.
That's been the bugaboo for Maynor.
That's been her only downside.
It's just not being able to locate early.
She's been able to throw a lot of good pitches at times.
But she's letting a few get away from her.
And that's what has allowed this three nothing game.
Again it could still be worse because bases are loaded, but got to find a way to get out of the inning if you can.
Coming in to have a conversation just to calm everyone down.
A three nothing lead now for Taylor.
Carson Langley, the right fielder, and Berger looking like we're going to make a pitching change here.
A little bit of a switcheroo.
I mean, sister to sister.
I think you're right.
I just want to make sure that I'm looking at this correctly.
Yes.
So they are going to switch Brecken Maynor is going to come from shortstop and head into the circle to take over for her older sister, Delaney.
Maynor is going to go and play shortstop, which she switches back and forth between pitcher and shortstop all season.
So she's used to playing that position.
But very surprising that they're making this change so early.
We're going to take a break, let her warm up and come right back.

One.
Welcome back.
The pitching change has been made, and it is Brecken Maynor in the circle now for Scranton, just to keep you guys updated on the baseball game happening.
By the way, speaking of Taylor, the baseball Tigers over here at Babe Ruth Field, and they are three outs away from a state championship with an eight nothing lead over Mount Ida.
First pitch for Maynor in for a strike.
Brecken Maynor, the sophomore.
She's got 137 strikeouts.
So about 54 more than her sister to 1.83.
The future is bright for Brecken Maynor and the Scranton Rockets.
I'll tell you that much.
Yes, they are, but she inherits right now.
A bases loaded situation with two outs and the number nine batter, Carson Langley, at the plate.
Swing and a miss for strike two.
Oh, that was some velo from Brecken.
Maynor.
Oh my goodness.
Just reared back and blew it.
Her.
And there you have it.
Strike three.
Well done and executed by Brecken Maynor to come in and get the job done.
But Taylor puts three on the board, leaves the bases loaded, but they'll go back to defensive.
Scranton can get some runs of their own here in the top of the second.
We're going to take a break.

It's a very important question.
Addison will take back in the circle for the Tigers, and she's got herself a three nothing lead to work with as she now faces Mackenzie Croft, the third baseman for the rockets.
514 average for Croft.
She can absolutely match.
She's a hitter that it's a tough out.
Naturally, the OBP in the batting average speak for herself, but she's a really good hitter.
That's why she's been clean up and only a sophomore.
Alyssa love to see it.
Nulty walked the first batter she faced in the top of the first, and she will walk the first batter she faces here in the top of the second.
A walk by Mackenzie Croft to get things going here for Scranton.
And that brings up Brecken Maner, who has moved from shortstop now over to that pitching position chance to really help herself out.
Out sharp.
Did Brecken Manor look in the circle?
I mean, she was dynamite doing absolutely what her team needed her to do at that time and getting things done.
Well executed there.
And a nice message to her sister to say, I got you, sis.
All right.
She's a little pick her up.
Right.
Exactly.
One ball here on maner.
That one fouled back and straight into the glove of Addison Nolte.
And it looks like they doubled her up again.
And sometimes there's just nothing you can do about that.
It is.
It's so hard and so fast off that bat.
That's another double play.
There.
Those are the types of plays less a championship type plays.
That just unfortunate if you're Scranton just doesn't go your way.
Nulty immediate reaction to double off the runner.
And that's the second consecutive time it's happened today.
Well you're taking such a lead there at first base.
And man, you just freeze up and there's nothing you can do about it.
But there's two down now here early for the Tigers.
And speaking of the Tigers, as you can see, we're showing you now the celebration here at Babe Ruth Field.
The Tigers are your baseball state champions here in 2026.
And I guarantee you, JB, that these guys are going to go and support their teammates on the softball field, a couple fields away from where they're at once.
All that celebration is over.
Emma Pierce here with the hit.
That one is going to be an out and A12, three inning here to get the Tigers back into the dugout to see if their offense can continue to do what it did in the first.

Well, welcome back here.
As we now see, Brick and Main are back in the circle for Scranton.
Trying to see if they can do a one, two, three inning just like the Lady Tigers did at the top of the second.
Great to be with you here at Jackie Robinson Field from Majestic Park in Hot Springs.
We are back to the top of the lineup here with Aniston.
Nulty going to start things off for us in the second.
She did a great job of starting off that offense the first time through.
That one.
And there she she being brecken maner picking things up where she left off with the strike.
I love the aggressiveness for the sophomore playing fearless doesn't matter.
She's laying it all out there.
A nice swing and a miss there for strike two.
I mean, the Vilas really good for.
And I already talked about that.
But even command hitter spots really attacking early.
But she came in and struck out Carson Langley to in the first.
And she strikes that Addison Nolte to start things off here in the second.
What a statement.
What a good morning.
Good afternoon and good night for Bracken Maynor.
Boy, that is some legit velo.
Carly McHenry walked her first at bat.
Now she is back here at the left fielder.
And that one in for a strike.
I mean, the sequencing is good too.
She goes you know, fastball, fastball.
Then riser above to Nulty gets a strikeout.
Similar approach here in the very first pitch to the two hole hitter.
Swing and a miss McHenry a little bit underneath that one.
Great little rise ball there by Brecken Maynor going.
Same thing going a little higher each time.
Would not be surprised if she goes up a little bit further and tries to get the swing on this.
Let's see if you're right.
Went low to try to see if she could get those balls by the knees and not so much.
A little too low.
I think we've decided the umpire is not going to call anything knee high.
It's not been a strike.
You're right.
So going to have to establish a little a little higher, a little bit outside and A22 count here on McHenry.
Surprised they haven't gone to that rise a little higher just because of McHenry not being able to catch up to change the eye level at some point.
You kind of feel like they're going to go back to it, to going to get this swing and miss bringing that one a little inside.
McHenry fouling it off to see another and live another day.
Still two two here in the bottom of the second with one out.
Regardless how about this fight for McHenry?
Yeah I mean she is really battling at the dish even early earlier.
Oh Maynor just came into the game.
And Maynor that is.
But she's looked so sharp.
Been very tough to pick up.
Good location, good sequencing.
So McHenry doing a good job of fighting tendencies.
The pitch selection has been on point.
She's trying to mix things up here seeing what she can get.
And just like that there's that rise ball again for that success.
And another strikeout.
She has struck out every batter she has faced so far since making that switch in the bottom of the first.
And we're going to show you here the trophy ceremony for the Tigers of Taylor.
Another baseball championship, another trophy heading down there to Taylor.
Oh, and there you have it, A12, three inning for the Scranton Lady Rockets.
That looked like A63 put out for outnumber three.
And they get a one, two, three inning just like the Tigers did.
So they'll go back to the dugout, see if they can get their offense going.
We'll be back right after this.

Well, we always like to make you a little bit smarter.
Here at Arkansas TV sports.
So our trivia question what holds the Arkansas high school record for the most combined runs scored in the game?
And bonus points if you get the exact number.
Total amount of runs in that game, the schools, and then the total number of bonus points was listening.
Okay.
All right.
Well I'm going to go with 37.
Okay.
That's my number.
Guess the teams.
There's no way I'm going to get it right.
So I'm just going to give you a number.
And we're going to see if those at home can figure it out.
We'll give them a little time.
Well I'll say this.
You're partially right, but I'll teach you a little bit later as we get further in the broadcast.
Okay.
Quite a tease there, sir.
But you you said 37, 37.
I just want to make sure it's on record.
All right.
37 here in the top of the third.
And Morgan Lansing.
Got a look at A30 count against Aniston Nulty.
She has fallen behind three on every single leadoff hitter.
Has Nolting ended up walking the first two.
And there is ball four.
So another walk to lead things off.
Let's see if actually Scranton can make something happen here.
Again, such a hard position to be in when you get doubled off the way that they have to start the first and the second.
So maybe the third time's the charm.
Well, maybe it's not started off right because every single leadoff hitter walked on four pitches and then they got doubled off.
So I know Scranton is hoping that is not a little deja vu moment, as you got a courtesy runner coming in for Scranton.
Is that Maddie Johnson, I believe?
Yeah.
Number seven, Maddie Johnson.
That one.
A dribbler down a picked up by Brooke Schultz.
Over to first.
She is safe.
Great job there by Zoe Green to hustle down that first baseline.
And now it's almost like they broke that jinx a little bit.
We've got runners on first and second for the Lady Rockets.
Huge huge shoot.
After you saw Brecken made a really shut things down.
She's looked really electric.
You get the eight seven and eight hitters on for the bottom of the lineup.
Addie layers trying to lay down that bunt to advance the runners.
The left fielder here in the number nine spot in the lineup.
That one fouled.
Great chance for Scranton now because Lay's trying to bunt the runners up.
At the very least you're gonna have second third one out if you execute at the top of the lineup.
Squares around to bunts again.
Pulls it back.
Hard.
And that one in for a ball.
So A11 count here on lays down.
She's got to be careful.
She kind of let that bat out there a little long.
They actually were appealing to see if she did keep it out there for too long.
She pulled it back.
But just in time.
Out of a bunch of squares around bunts again.
This one lay down, scooped up by Nulty over to first base and Adley Buford in time for the out.
But she does her job and advances the runners.
And you've got two now in scoring position at second and third.
How about execution out of the nine spot.
That is textbook for Addie lays gets it down.
Sets things up for the top of the lineup.
Three straight seniors might get a crack at least Vander Heide and Harrington lays will both get chances.
The best opportunity they have had all day so far to try to get some runs in, and they've got the top of the line up here to try to help them out and do it.
Katie Vander Hyde, the first baseman and the leadoff batter here stepping in with an opportunity.
To let long fly ball down the right field line out of play for strike one.
Ponder Hyde.
We talked about the 366 average coming in out of the top of the lineup.
Very tough out.
That's why she's batting at the top spot.
Pesky hitter right.
How about a job of our umpiring crew today.
Did really really great job.
But enjoying them John Harris, Ronald Fuller and Ray Burwell.
And I'm sure they're happy that the rain stopped as well.
That one outside by Nulty.
Good job by Vander.
Hard not to chase rocks Harvard good girl.
And she knows a base hit here.
Scores a run.
Even if you can get it deep enough into the outfield, it's going to score a run.
Popped up on the right field side and foul for strike two.
You could tell the idea for Vander Hard.
She's letting it travel deep.
Nolte got good juice on the hot stuff, but you got to make sure you catch up to it enough if you wait too late.
Can't get it.
That's a strikeout.
But I find that one way outside again, trying to get Vander Hyde to chase.
But she did not A22 count.
Some oohs and ahs from the Taylor side.
Nulty did hit her spot.
Catch was set up there, but the problem is it was half a play off.
I mean, what came close to strike?
She was basically standing in the other batter's box.
Yeah, that one straight down the middle.
Foul hit hard down the left field line trying to pull that ball.
That one going just foul.
She missed extra bases by a few inches.
Absolutely hammered it down the left field line.
And Vander Hyde and the rockets were so close to a two run double by Macy Downs the third baseman for Taylor playing right on that line too, with courtesy runner Maddie Johnson standing on third base, got one up.
And that one taken deep into center field, catchable for Jenna Braswell.
She's going to throw it home.
They're going to try to tag and score and they say that she is safe.
They say that she is safe.
That she slid under the tag.
Well executed by the courtesy runner Maddie Johnson there to tag out from third base and get under the tag.
I'm sure they're going to have a conversation about this, but the throw by Jenna Braswell, well executed.
Now she she didn't breach her.
Look at this throw from Jenna Brown.
That's an absolute hold from the outfield.
But Johnson skirts around the tag of Stultz.
That is a heck of an effort for Johnson.
I think the biggest thing is that Brooke Stoltz had to kind of come up in front of home plate to catch that ball, and it kind of pulled her a little bit down that left field line, and she just could not reach Johnson as she slid around here.
And in to score.
So a now one three ball game one out.
Great sac fly by Katie Von Hyde doing her job.
And now Marissa Harrington lacing if she can add to it for Scranton.
So big to get a run right and did not have a double play because if that's a tag that's another double play, you don't get a run.
They finally do though, thanks to the effort from Johnson on the runner coming in from third.
That's huge.
But you got credit.
Vander High two for the sac fly.
But Johnson's effort was awesome.
Zoe Green staying on second after all of that transpired.
She remains in scoring position.
That one a little bit outside as well.
And A31 count here on Harrington lays Nulty has been good.
But what you can credit Scranton and their offense.
They've been very disciplined.
They've not expanded the zone at all at least not much.
They've made Nulty work a little bit to that one.
Coming down.
Fouled back by Harrington lays like you mentioned.
They're going to battle these Scranton hitters are going to make Nulty pitch to them.
They're going to be patient.
They're not going to chase.
They've got to be very disciplined at the plate I know that was one of your keys.
Certainly was easier said than done though.
They dribbled back to Heidi Bar at second base.
She will get the ball, throw it over to Addley Buford to end the inning, but Scranton gets a run back and a little bit of momentum there for the Lady Rockets.
As we head to the bottom of the third here, the Taylor Tigers lead it 3 to 1.

Well, are you ready to find out how smart you are?
We're about to find out how smart Tulsa is.
I told you you were partially right.
Okay, you may think at first like, what are you talking about?
So the answer.
The total number of runs is 75.
But you said 30.
I did so Robinson scored 30, but I kind of was there.
Yeah.
Wow.
Isn't that a little.
Runs 37 to 38.
You know we got a baseball game out here for the GAC.
What was it 21 night?
Yep.
That's what it was just a couple weekends ago.
That felt like a lot of runs that there was like 11 home run.
It was a game.
It was a lot.
I can't imagine what 38 and 37 felt like that one in for a strike and cannot say enough about what Brick and Maynor has been able to do since she has come into relief.
Her sister in the circle, another strike for her.
I mean, that monumental.
You know, you have a player like Brecken Maynor.
She gives her team a chance.
The way things were looking.
And that's no knock on Delaney.
The way she started.
Just Taylor was really taken advantage.
They were seeing Delaney a lot better, for whatever reason.
And Taylor was one big hit away from really breaking things open early.
A11 count here on Heidi Bar.
The second baseman who ended the inning with that ground ball, seeing if she can get on the base fast and get things going for her teammates.
Well, Brecken Manders got a 1.2 ERA for a reason.
Got that rise ball working as well for strike two.
I think that's probably her out pitch.
I mean that's definitely been her best stuff is the rise or it's her location of it too.
And she sequences it in very, very nicely.
She does.
I think I'd like to see her go more to it.
That one a little bit high there as she tries to and just really challenge Taylor to go up and get it.
That's where she's gotten a lot of her strikeouts, no question.
So impressed with Brecken Maynor.
Yeah, that one right down the middle for strike three.
Well executed.
What placement I think J.B.
she just blew that one.
All right.
By Heidi bar for out number one.
You've got so quick to make that decision.
And once you decide hey, I think that's a ball.
It's too late.
Maynor gets it there so quick.
An expert location.
And guess what?
Another strike out for Brecken Maynor.
That is four so far.
Since she has taken over, just say her steps.
And the shortstop here for Taylor who rocketed that line drive into left field her first time at bat.
Well, I don't know about you, Alyssa, but my guess is that Brecken Maynor is going to have a chance to play at the next level if she like.
I think.
So she's got a lot of softball in her future.
That is absolutely for sure.
Whoa.
That one well placed.
Starting to get a little bit of that lower call there for the strike.
You're right.
Certainly.
That's probably as low as the strike has been given today.
A little too low there with that ball for ball two.
So now A21 count here on Jessie Sayers.
Sayers at that huge hit at release that the two run double.
Oh wow.
Higher up got the scoring started.
They were all able to get it.
Other was Taylor.
But that hit could loom very large by the end of this thing.
It's a big time at bat when they needed it to get things going.
And again, things just kind of started off shaky for screen with a walk back to back walks to start things off.
And then you come up with bases loaded and are able to rocket that one into left field.
And that's how things got going.
And then things flipped a little bit.
When Brecken Maynor came in, she said, oh, not so fast, I'm able to mow you down.
That one popped up into foul territory.
She stays alive.
Full count here.
But you know, you got to have players like that, you know, pitcher to come in and give your team a chance.
And she's absolutely done that.
No it's still early but Taylor such a good offense.
Bracken Maynor has really stymied the Taylor bats.
That one high for ball four.
That's an excited Chesley Sayers as she heads down to first base for another one of those youngsters, Sayers, a ninth grader, doing her part on the biggest stage.
Wow.
It says a lot.
If you are a freshman shortstop for a team like Taylor, you know you've got some talent and she is standing on first base seeing if she can get things going for her teammates.
Addley Buford, the first baseman, steps up.
She walked in her first at bat.
And you know, both of these teams are smaller classifications.
So numbers aren't there.
You're going to see a lot of underclassmen, right.
But when you've got ninth graders and 10th graders that are that are so good and they're and they're in a lot of ways leading their teams, that's what's so impressive.
You know, rocket.
So one one count here on Adley Buford.
She's got a runner and shares at first base.
We've got one out.
It's Heidi Bar struck out to start the inning I want another high ball getting away from Maynor.
Sayers deciding to stay put though.
Right, right.
The first time we really see Maynor kind of fall behind to a hitter swing and a miss for strike two.
So A22 count here on Buford.
No.
She kind of fell behind Sayers, but she kind of battled back.
That's the pitch that you need.
But you got to be careful, too, Buford.
She's a really good hitter.
Out of the six spot.
Another sophomore, Buford, another multi-sport athlete as well.
See strike three there.
Another strike out for maintenance man.
She has got that pitch work in for her.
Well, man, such a great location.
How about a home plate umpire?
Man he is really getting into it grabbing the chainsaw.
It's pretty easy to tell what it's a strikeout, no question about it.
Absolutely.
He makes our work here on the broadcast a whole lot easier when he is that animated about it.
This first pitch to Brooke Stoltz in for a ball.
I know it's a lot to ask, but if every umpire could be like cam, man, that wou Is that your message to umpires out there?
That's my message.
Get into it.
Right.
You know, I don't have a huge personality.
That's right, that's right.
They've been great all weekend.
They have but yeah this guy man love it.
He is getting into it.
Yeah.
Maynor puts that one in there for strike one.
And so once again now you see Stokes here with A21 count two outs.
And a runner on second base in scoring position.
We all went to see if they went around.
They say she did not.
So that is ball three.
How about the discipline from Stoltz?
Ninth grader certainly does not play like that.
Plays more like a senior out of that seven spot.
Trying to deliver a run here.
And then she will take her base.
So another base runner here and another walk for Taylor.
And they've got runners on first and second.
I think we might have a runner for Stultz over at first to.
Base and.
It looks like Tanner Maycock another freshman coming in.
Freshman for freshman over at first.
Everyone playing their part there for the Taylor Lady Tigers roster Jenna Braswell, the center fielder, will look at a pass ball and everyone will advance up one base.
So Jesse Sayers had to third.
And now we've got runners at second and third.
Two outs.
Taylor seeing if they can add to this 3 to 1 lead.
Only issues for Maynard.
This inning has been a little bit of control.
A couple of wild pitches.
But she keeps trying to, you know, kind of rubbing her hand in the ball still might be a little bit moist.
Can't really see on your screen, but it has been coming down off and on different parts of the game.
She fires that one in their first strike.
Right.
That's what right down the middle bathhouse row is what it's going to set exactly.
And well, that's what I think that when you're Maynor, you've got to just go back to what's been working that rice ball on that fastball right down the middle.
That one looked a little good, but maybe a little high.
So A31 count.
Don't try to get too fancy.
That's right.
Not not whenever you've been walking a few.
You just want to make Taylor put it in place, see what happens.
There is another strike.
So being able to battle back is Maynor.
And she is giving herself a full count here.
Out.
Gotta get it, get it.
What an at bat, though from Braswell, senior.
Got that one high and outside to load the bases.
Third walk of the inning for Bracken Maynor.
That's been the only downside to her outing thus far.
She's gotten a lot of strikeouts, but control this inning, things have gotten away from her just a little bit.
Still no damage done.
But you're far with it if you're Maynor again, just take a deep breath, goes outside for that corner, and finds the strike here to Carson Langley continuing to just trust what you've got, your mechanics, the pitches that are working.
You trust your defense behind you.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Another good pitch there.
A little bit of a rise ball for strike two.
It's a big at bat.
Langley really aggressive.
It's now oh two.
She'll have to battle.
Top of the lineups looming.
So Grant does not want that to happen.
That would mean a run comes across and more.
Langley battling fouls that one back to stay alive.
The last time that these two faced.
This was the first batter that Brecken Maynor faced when she made the switch from shortstop to pitcher and struck her out.
Carson Langley looking for a different result this time.
But Maynor ahead in the count oh two.
Oh yeah.
High for ball one.
That's a nice job from lensing behind the dish to keep that ball from getting away.
And lensing has got to have some working.
There's that I, I love it.
Coach McHenry was telling us about having a little fun there with that.
I think it's blue glitter.
Yeah I can't really call it I black.
No I paint, I paint.
There you go.
Looks like she's ready.
Ready for battle.
It doesn't exactly.
It's almost like a mask of sorts.
Love it from Tatum Aycock.
But like you're saying, Lansing got a runner on third base.
Really gotta make yourself big back there as the catcher can't get anything past you.
Langley able to make this A22 count?
There?
Full count.
Shoot ball three.
Yeah.
Fouled back.
Staying alive.
Here is Langley battling against Maynor.
Let's see who wins this battle JB how impressive for Langley to be down oh two.
She's fought off some what would be strike threes to stay alive.
Works it fall.
And man I know we've said this a lot but this at bat this pitch right here could be huge in the game.
If you look back on it it is Maynor wanting a new ball.
So switches that one out for a new one.
As you've mentioned it's still you know the turf is what it is not raining here in Hot Springs anymore but something with a little grip and it works.
Strike three.
And that is a strike out way to get out of the bases loaded jam and Scranton fired up.
Let's see if they can keep that fire and move it to their offense.
As we head now to the fourth.
It's A31 ballgame between Taylor and Scranton.
You're watching the Centennial Bank state baseball and softball championships on Arkansas TV sports.
Tomorrow at 1130.
Since 1937, the electric cooperatives of Arkansas have been providing power to homes, farms and businesses across our state to cooperatives, are member owned, and work together to serve Arkansans.
The Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas proudly support high school students and athletics in Arkansas, and hope you enjoy watching the state championship games on Arkansas TV, sports.
Better connected together.
The electric cooperatives of Arkansas.
It's now time to introduce you to our student all star of the game and Delaney Maner from Scranton.
Plans to attend college, become a pediatrician.
We talked about going to the University of Arkansas and a biology major in that pre-med track.
Oh, man.
That's a lot of science and a lot of math and a lot of respect for people who go into the medical field.
A 4.0 GPA.
She was also the valedictorian.
Oh, so it makes a lot of sense.
It's a lot of biochem.
Okay.
And the stuff that Kim.
Kim, I don't know too much science.
You're exactly right.
That is one smart individual and one very talented individual.
Also, athletically speaking of valedictorian, Aniston Nulty, the valedictorian for the senior class at Taylor, as well.
And I read an article and Delaney Maynard was talking about how she knows this is her last game as a softball player because she's going and doing pre-med and biology at the University of Arkansas, just how much it's meant to her to be a part of this program and be a leader on this team, and how much the sport has meant to her.
And she knows that that's not going to be her future, but it's currently her present.
Grounds out there to Adley Buford for out number one.
You know, it's always tough sometimes too as a player knowing, you know, the balance both and knowing, hey, this is what I want to focus on after because she's certainly could play collegiately if she'd like.
But, taking taking the academic and focusing on her future in terms of her career, which is really awesome to see.
Mackenzie Croft, the third baseman now at the plate, fouls that one back for strike two.
And oh two count early here on Croft.
I've been really impressed with Croft up.
Just discipline at the plate.
Aggressiveness really selective health is a tough pitcher to hit and really not been able to.
Only one hit today.
That one from Nulty a little high for ball one.
And it looks like it's starting to rain a little bit.
We're over here at the baseball field and the fans around are starting to get out their umbrellas and their ponchos again.
So the rain coming down a little bit here once more in Hot Springs.
This one popped up to Carson Langley and right field.
She collects it.
And that is an easy out.
Number two.
Nice job from the old teammate.
She's doing a really good job of even when she's been, you know, wildly effective early in those walks.
She's had double plays but she's been around the zone.
She's so consistent.
Her pitching abilities speak for themselves.
I mean, the way that she's been able to attack and get hit, she's tough to hit.
Who throws that one in there for a strike?
The one thing I love about Nulty is how animated her pitching wind up is.
I feel like these days you see a little bit more.
It's more power, but she's just got so much movement to her, which was really what I was used to seeing growing up from pitchers.
A lot of movement, a lot of jerkiness.
Just trying to throw you off rhythm a little bit too within.
Yeah, she's got that big swing up and the big swing back and you don't see that as much anymore.
So much of your power of course is coming from that hips.
You don't necessarily need it but it it works for her.
Hey you got to find what works.
And that's offensively to the hitter I mean it is all comes true.
Hit power there too.
But on the stance whatever pitching find what works for you and then you could tell noted has worked quite well for her in her career right now.
Things working in Brecken Mainers favor as she finds ball four and walks to get a base runner on there for screen with two outs.
Trying to get a little bit of a rally here.
Amy Pierce, the second baseman up.
She.
Nothing worked in the circle for me.
It's why I was never a pitcher.
I'm talking about finding things that works.
I found things that worked out in second base, in the outfield.
So you get a little came on you, didn't you?
Out there in center, out outfield, left field.
You say center field.
Nice.
She had a pretty good arm.
Pretty good range to go.
Probably pretty fast.
It's my guess.
Fast ish.
Fast ish.
Fast ish.
Fast enough.
I know.
Fast enough to get the outs.
Okay, that's good enough.
That makes sense.
I was not I was a corner, actually.
I played short and in high school, but I can't let you go any year with A11 count.
Here in the fourth.
Fouls that one back for strike two.
There Scranton got a base run I know it's two outs.
If you can get a two out rally.
Not in a great spot, though.
If you're Pierce against Nulty, but you're battling to find a way to get another run back here in the fourth.
Just chip away.
That's been the name of the game.
A little short on that pitch for ball two.
You know, if you're Taylor, how big were those double plays too?
I mean, who knows what Scranton does in the first and second innings.
Balls were hit hard, but it was just atom balls and line out double plays.
Two of them the first and second innings.
Well they had the opportunity in the third with that catch in center field trying to throw out the runner at home.
But the throw just a little in front of the plate and the Lady Rockets able to slide around it for their one and only run so far of this game.
A full count here on Amy Pierce.
Blows it by her for strike three and outnumber three.
So nothing going here for the Lady Rockets in the fourth.
We head to the bottom of the inning as the Taylor Tigers depleted 3 to 1.

A man there was eating his chains after eating his ice man or a kid as a kid.
I'm okay, my man.
Okay.
He was probably 1012.
I'm bad with getting ages, but let's get 10 to 12.
Eaton.
His chain had to change.
His mouth looked like a baller, but I'm like, yeah, fun, fun.
You got to love it.
You got to love it.
I'm sure that's a younger brother of someone out here playing today.
Got to be between Taylor and Scranton again.
The Tigers with a one nothing lead and in steps.
Aniston.
Nulty the leadoff batter to start things off here in the fourth.
Taylor looking.
I haven't had anything since that third inning a brick and Mainer has steadied the ship for Scranton.
She's been huge.
A little low in front of the plate for ball two.
She really has though.
When she is on she's on and she's been able to hit her placements, had a few balls get away from her, but really that was it.
A nice pitch and inside, but maybe a little bit too inside.
So A31 count here to Nulty.
This is also the second time to the line up for Bracken Maynard.
And you face that top of the lineup twice.
It's tough to get them out.
Fouls back to stay alive for strike two a full count now here on Nulty.
And that's a good pitch.
Goes with it.
Is fastball on A31 hitters count to challenge.
But Maynor won the battle.
Another foul ball to stay alive I really like what Maynor did there.
Just coming straight back at her again.
Really with the same pitch.
It almost looked identical.
Obviously good hitter like Nulty.
She was on it a little bit more.
That one, you know, line straight back into the catcher's mitt caromed away.
That means you're on it.
So if you're Maynor, I wouldn't quite go back to that.
You give a good hitter like Nulty three chances that she's going to likely make you pay the third time.
So I'd go riser just a little bit higher so you can get the swing a miss.
And again, it's slightly raining here at Majestic Park.
So Maynor switching out that ball to get a little bit of a grip.
Nulty getting a little bit of a hold of that one at the wall off the Oak lawn sign in the back of Addie lays.
She gets it over to Marissa Harrington lays to try to just get the throw in.
But that is a triple for Addison Nulty.
And man she got a hold of that one.
Did she do crushed it.
That ball was cranked to left field.
That was three times back to the well Maynor went right back to it.
And I told you Nulty is going to make you pay as she did off the base of the wall.
I think that Maynor wanted that one just a little bit higher.
Nulty drives it off the left field fence.
Innocent nobody.
Just one home run on the season.
She almost had two.
But she'll take the triple there to start things off.
Standing on third base.
She was on her horse too.
Absolutely hammered.
It.
Got around the bases.
Callie McHenry, the left fielder here seeing if she can drive home her teammate on third base.
Kelly scored a run already struck out her second time up, and so she is seeing Maynor for the second time.
Talked about the second time through the top of the lineup.
It's tough to retire them in order.
Outs become harder when you face the top of the lineup.
Like Taylor, they're in a prime spot to at least get a run here.
Trying to find that outside corner, but about a ball outside off the plate for ball two and not a bad miss it all.
That's a pitcher's pitch all the way.
I like that location from Maynor trying to see if she can get McHenry to chase.
McHenry fouling that one.
All right.
It's a nice job for McHenry.
She's realizes she's getting pitched away, tries to go with it, slaps it some good velo from Maynor.
Fouls that one back to stay alive.
And McHenry here not going quietly.
She's been pesky right.
Even her last at bat went down.
But, was battling and she got to walk that first time.
And she she's a hitter that's going to make that pitcher work the count.
She's going to see pitches.
You're not going to get her down easy.
If you're going to get her.
Great signs of a coach's daughter, right.
Very much like her mom.
Proud I'm sure.
Her.
High to.
Make it a full count here.
That's a strikeout pitch.
All out of hitters are swing and a miss.
Some of that McHenry with it.
Expert take.
She does it again.
Try to get her to chase.
And she did not.
So the walk will put runners at the corners and still no outs here in the bottom of the fourth.
And that's such a good at bat.
I don't think folks at all know how hard it is.
That pitch from Maynor gets there quick.
That riser, she's got so many strikeouts on that in McHenry.
Twice able to lay off.
First one was a lot more enticing.
Last one got away a little bit.
That is Maina's fourth walk of the game as you see McHenry just taking the base at second.
So runners now in scoring position at second and third with Macey Downs at the plate.
Her pitch count up to 65 already since she has come in in the bottom of the first.
And this is a dangerous spot.
May downs five home runs lead the team, but a 579 average it's even higher and she got a hit her first time up.
Downs gets a hold of this one.
Deep center field off the wall.
225, by the way, is how deep that wall is back there in center.
That is going to clear the bases for Macy Downs.
And she finds herself standing on third base as well.
What a piece of hitting there by the third baseman.
Wow.
Rifles it to deep center field.
That is some pop from Macy Downs.
You knew it was a matter of time.
With her power able to pound it off the deep centerfield wall.
That's the deepest part of the park and that's gone in most parks.
But 225 here at Majestic Park, she absolutely crushed it for a two run double.
So we have seen two balls go off the wall here in the fourth.
And that's just this Taylor lineup getting accustom to Maynard.
My apologies to a triple for downs.
She got on her horse.
She was she was legging that thing out.
Give her all the credit JP.
Don't shortchange up here Heidi Bard the second baseman to face Maynor for the second time.
Low for ball 111 count.
It would help if we could see the field a little better, too.
That's okay.
But, But.
Yeah.
My apologies.
Macy down.
She absolutely smoked it.
Outside.
Down.
It's not going to make a move at third, so no harm there on that pass ball is it.
Softball.
Still a great opportunity.
Runner at third.
Nobody out Taylor feeling good.
That one getting away.
Macy downs going to go.
No one's there to get the ball.
She does not go though.
That would have been a nice opportunity.
I think she knows it.
But downs there's there's no reason really you know to try to test anything.
Right now you've got A51 lead and you have no outs with runners.
On Heidi bar another walk.
And now JB, if you are Coach Beckman, what do you say?
What are you thinking right now with Maynor on the in the circle you've walked your second batter of the inning.
You can always go back to your starter in Delaney at any point.
And I think potentially you get back to that point.
If Brecken can't kind of calm things down and find the zone a little bit more, because Taylor's one more big hit away from really breaking this thing open, Heidi Bar takes herself second base.
So now, once again, two runners in scoring position.
And it hasn't been a velocity issue for Maynor.
It's been more of a control issue these last batters this inning a little too high.
She been able to find that rise ball for a strike.
But these balls a little too high.
And you can kind of see in her body language JB a little frustrated.
And that's understandable.
But you got to keep your composure.
You got to come at these Taylor hitters.
Jess Sayers taking this one into shallow right center field.
That one is going to score a run.
Another run is going to come in and score as Morgan Linson cannot handle that one.
That is a bases clearing RBI for Jesse Sayers.
Man.
The freshman having the game of her life.
Another good job done driving in runs, doing a job.
And that certainly is not what Brecken Maynor wanted.
I believe Sayers is standing at first base with that now two RBI single, well executed hit there by Sayers.
Lee Buford now back up.
Move in there for strike one.
Let's see if being able to just see that strike is going to help Maynor in the circle.
You know she been a little bit looking over the dugout in between pitches sometimes just giving that body language of hey coach you're going to come out, talk to me.
Are there signs coming and just trying to settle yourself down?
Sometimes it does take, you know, get somebody out there to calm you down.
I don't think Maynor Maina's that kind of player that she can do it herself.
But sometimes you do want to see what the coach is feeling too.
Buford fouls that one back A12 count.
For another one of those sophomores, four home runs on the season had some really big strength from the left handed hitter.
Low and outside for ball two.
So again, the opportunities continue for the Lady Tigers with one on no outs.
They started things off with Addison Nulty, the leadoff batter.
And so far everyone that screen has faced has scored so far, except for Sayers who's standing on first base.
That one fouled back again.
Staying alive is Buford, and she's got herself a full count.
She's got a really good hack.
Wants that pitch back.
Felt like she just missed it.
She wants to get another one.
What a good first baseman Buford is two.
She's had some action already today.
Plenty of times.
Well that swing short compact real strong smooth.
I want to make a clarification.
Is Sayers at first base or no.
So Sayers gets thrown out at third.
I apologize we didn't see any of that.
And so there is one out as Sayers was thrown out at third.
Addie Buford takes her walk.
So now we have a runner at first base with one out.
Now due to that other game kind of ending earlier, we didn't we we were getting a different spot, so we don't quite see the field is as well as it could.
All right.
Back.
Brooke Stoltz for the one.
Oh count that one right down the middle for strike one.
And now one one count.
Here we go.
I how Maynor though even though she's kind of been hit around this inning, she's still fighting.
Still attacking the zone low for ball two.
Talking about the part from this lineup, here's Brooke Stultz.
She's got the time for the team lead in home runs with five out of the seven spot.
I mean futures bright for Taylor.
Has been for quite some time now Jay being to be quite honest with you.
And they have no no future of slowing down, especially in the, softball and baseball world after the boys just won another baseball state championship.
And as we talked about, I'm sure a lot of those fans have made their way over to the softball field to watch this one deep here into left field.
Addie leis is there to make the catch for outnumber two.
And I think there was a little bit of some confusion there by Adley Buford maybe didn't think that that was caught and she took off.
And they're able to double her up.
So look at Scranton getting themselves a double play on some miscommunication to end the inning.
They're going to head back into the dugout to see if they can get their offense going.
But Taylor now jumping out to A71 lead here in the bottom of the fourth.

Brazil, as we call this one, between Taylor and Scranton and how about Taylor able to play four in the fourth to jump out to the 7 to 1 lead three and one sounded obviously a lot more safe, a lot easier to come back from seven one.
A tall task for these lady rockets is that one caught by Adley Buford at first?
Yeah, I think you're right.
I mean, that's certainly something shot in the arm for Taylor.
That's the first time they've been able to get around Brecken maner.
She's been really mowing them down.
So they get those four runs.
And the way that Nulty has been pitching, you feel really good if you're Taylor right now.
That was Morgan Lensing.
This is so green.
Green over collected by Nulty.
The throw to Adley Buford for outnumber two.
And this is not what you wanted.
If you're the Lady Rockets trying to get a rally going.
But certainly not.
You don't want quick outs.
You want at least battle trying to work the count a little bit.
Find ways to get Nulty to labor.
But, just with a doctor ordered.
If you're Taylor trying to go for the two out rally here, Addley lays.
Especially though as long as that bottom of the fourth inning was just to get into the dugout and get a breather, just get a little bit of rest, get your legs back underneath to be a little bit.
Oh two count here on lays.
The left fielder.
She's the one that caught that long out.
Threw it back to first to double things up.
Trying to get her to chase way out there.
You know that's an interesting strategy as a batter.
You see the catcher go over there in your peripheral.
There's no way I'm swinging at the catcher is hanging out over there in the other batter's box.
Grounded to third.
Throw over from Macy down.
Sadly, Buford in time the five three put out is outnumbered three.
And just like that, the Taylor Tigers are headed back to the dugout.
We are headed to the bottom of the fifth.
We'll be right back after this.

Com.
Oh.
Oh.
Majestic Park the home for your baseball and softball state championships here in 2026.
And we are in the bottom of the fifth in the one.
A state softball championship game between Taylor and Scranton.
Brooke Stultz, Jenna Braswell and Carson Langley do up here in the bottom of the line up, seven eight, nine for the Taylor Tigers.
For Brecken Manor.
Obviously, damage has been done in the last inning, but you want to keep it seven one.
Your team's down to their final six outs and she's pitched so well.
But Taylor doing what they do all year long, they just chip away, chip away and find a way to get to that pitcher and drive in some runs.
My apologies.
It was Brooke Stultz who flew out to left field to end the fourth.
So Jenna Braswell up now with A11 count.
Fouled back for strike two.
And I know that I'm sure Brecken made her wish she had a little bit more time in the dugout to rest her arm, but what I'd really like to see is, again, get that control back.
And the placement that she had early on when she came in here.
And I mean, we we saw her go one, two, three big time strike out there to start things off.
And that's good to see.
Seems like she settled down a little bit, took a deep breath.
And that's a good way to start things off here in the bottom of the fifth.
Her seventh strikeout.
She's got the stuff.
She's only given up four earned runs, only giving up three hits, as a matter of fact.
But the walks is what kind of her.
She's got six walks those have piled up for me.
Or you take those away and it's still A31 game.
Carson Langley, the right fielder in the nine hole hitter here, has struck out both of her times at the plate.
Watches a ball.
Low and outside.
And another ball.
Home.
So you had that strikeout, and it made her look like she was really settling into a groove.
But she's kind of missed her.
Her footing here.
This at bat.
Great job with a place.
That one on the outside corner for strike one.
Now A31 count here on Langley.
Low for ball four.
So another walk issued by Maynor.
We are back to the top of the line up here with Aniston.
Nulty.
She walked her first at bat, struck out her second, and then had that triple off the left field wall to start things off in the fourth.
This is the part of the lineup for Taylor.
They just need four runs and they do have a ten run run rule victory.
I know it's a ways from that, but in terms of top of the lineup.
Got to be careful.
If you're main or you really want to put out the fire now.
It felt like they scored four runs in a hurry in the last inning.
So we've seen it done here and quickly by this Taylor offense.
That ball thrown down bounced off of.
Carson Langley.
She gets up and gets herself to third base.
So now another run standing on third base.
Another opportunity offensively for Taylor and Nulty with A20 count.
It always helps to when as a hitter top of the lineup really wherever you're at and you got runners in scoring position just offensively your numbers are better.
You typically hit better with runners on.
There's just something mentally about that.
So having a runner at third and that really expands Nulty and her aggressiveness to really attack what she wants was added motivation for me, absolutely, as a competitor and as a hitter.
So I guarantee you that's what Aniston Nulty sitting here thinking, hey, I want to get this run across.
Just hit it hard somewhere.
Now it's three points you're going to take.
But get A31 count.
Hit it anywhere hard.
Ball four.
And just as good as a base hit with runners on the corners now and this is exactly what Taylor likes to do to string things together.
And next thing you know those runs just start collecting themselves.
Likely going to see Nulty take second base here at some point in this abbey just with her speed.
And then how about that older sister Delaney talking to younger sister just called her down.
Biggest game of the year knows what's at stake.
It's A71 game that's you know they've had a lot of conversations together.
That's cool to see here on this stage.
To Brecken just trying to settle the nerves a little bit.
And again, she knows you want to talk about her sister.
The throw down close.
I don't think Nulty was expecting them to throw it.
She didn't even try to attempt to slide there.
And you had her look around saying, well, are you going to make a call?
Was she safe or out?
They'll call her safe.
But I talking about the Maynor sisters.
It is Delaney's last game here for Scranton.
And this is a big deal.
And of course, you can probably guess that Brooke is feeling a little bit of that pressure.
Sure.
No doubt this one fouled back for strike two.
One and one on Kelly McHenry 0A2.
It's the last game they're going to get to play together at the sisters right I mean it's a special thing.
And fun moment regardless of the outcome.
They're going to remember this game for the rest of their lives.
Down in the dirt.
Turf, dirt turf.
Still going to.
That's going to be a thing.
I'm I'm like good with dirt.
But I also like it probably cause it is turf.
So I don't want to misspeak here.
But regardless what Brecken Manor has been able to do, when she switched positions with her sister Delaney to come into the circle, I mean, you can't really say much about it.
Well executed.
When her number was called, the fielder's choice there to Amy Pierce over to Katie van der Hyde for the out, but it will score a run.
Carson Langley comes in to score from third and Austin Nulty moves over to third.
That's an RBI for McHenry.
Yeah.
Nice job doing a job by Kaylee McHenry.
Been a tough out all game and able to work the count.
Drives it around.
And now the dangerous Macy Downs.
You talk about Macy Downs being dangerous offensively with her bat I mean she was a very valuable piece of this Taylor volleyball team that played for a state championship.
Gets a hold of this one into left field.
That's going to drop outfielders playing deep respecting that power of Macy Downs.
And comes another run Addison Nulty makes it a 9 to 1 game in favor of the Tigers.
Macy downs doing a job again.
Kind of got that one on the handles who didn't carry out as far, but she got a great swing.
Good smooths, compact swing.
They were playing her deep and so drops it in in front of the left fielder.
And Addie lays in an RBI to boot.
I believe when we were showing you that replay Heidi bar with a base hit.
So now Macy Downs at second and Heidi Barr at first is going to bring up Jesse Sayers.
You can say a lot about what Nulty has been able to do in the circle, but you can make an argument right now JB that Macy Downs putting up an MVP kind of performance that she is.
And you mentioned all across with the volleyball there's a lot of players that played volleyball Hadley Buford's on the team Nulty Macy Downs and Kendall Hamm not playing softball.
But she was one heck of a volleyball player.
Just a junior.
Taylor's got it going on in the athletic department.
We mentioned Scranton too with their success.
Man oh man.
Sayers pops this one back to make it A12 count.
That one taken for a ride by Sayers.
See you later.
Over the left field wall.
That is a home run.
That is a three run home run.
And that is going to do it for Taylor.
The walk off home run.
Oh wow.
Well done Jess.
Sally Sayers the freshman.
And it's unreal.
Wow.
What a day for Jess Lisa.
She was a triple shy of the cycle.
Exclamation mark.
0A3 run bomb for the ninth grader.
And Taylor has won another state title.
Wow, what a way to put an exclamation point on your season.
Just like that.
You say they can score in a hurry.
That is exactly how you do it.
Congratulations to the Taylor Lady Tigers for their ninth straight state championship.
A big time win over Scranton.
We're going to take a break here from Hot Springs and be back with the trophy ceremony.

I hope they got a place for that trophy in that trophy case for Taylor, because, you know, that's pretty full.
But I'm sure, JP that they do.
Congratulations to the lady Tigers their ninth straight state championship and a very convincing win at 12 to 1 over Scranton.
And when you look at the numbers JP just so impressive.
Justly sayers who hit that home run to win the ball game and five three for three on the day.
You said a triple shy of the cycle.
Macy downs three for four and in the circle Aniston Nolte in five innings striking out two, walking four.
But 12 runs on eight hits.
The Taylor Tigers just continue to find success on the softball team, and in this one was a fun one to watch.
Sure was.
There's a long run for Grant, but I think what kind of got lost in the offense for Taylor is that Nulty threw a one hitter, only gave up one run to one hit the offense for Taylor.
You knew it was going to come.
Things were going their way.
The ball was flying around the yard.
That one from Macy Downs off the wall and then a drive to right center field.
Taylor had the offense going.
They headed into that final inning just needing four runs.
Well they got five for good measure and it was all capped off by the big time three run bomb right here from Jess Sayers.
She's got to be the MVP right.
My goodness what a performance for the freshman on the biggest stage.
Yeah big time performance there by the freshman as you mentioned.
