(bright upbeat music) - "Art and Soup" brings the community together for local art, great food, and a good cause, supporting charitable care for Utah families when they need it the most.
Here with more is Candida Benson with Community Nursing Services.
Welcome, Candida.
- Thank you.
I'm so excited to be here.
- Tell me a little bit more about Community Nursing Services.
- Yeah, we are Utah's oldest non-profit home health and hospice agency.
We serve about 93% of Utahns, from Logan down to St.
George, and when someone can't afford their healthcare for whatever reason, we step in with our charitable care program so that they can get that vital healthcare that they desperately need.
- Wow, and with the aging population growing, I'm sure that there is a growing need.
- Oh, it absolutely is.
I think everybody's seen the headlines this year.
You know, whatever age you are, healthcare premiums are going up.
We have an aging population, so that it's such a great need.
Last year, we spent more than a million dollars on supporting people throughout the state of Utah of all ages.
We do immunizations for kids that are going back to school, and maybe they don't have the funds to do that, but they need it to go to school, all the way up to people who are facing end of life and need the comfortable care so that they can enjoy those last days.
- That's so crucial, and I hear "Art and Soup" is a great way to learn more about what the organization is doing while also enjoying some delicious food at the same time.
- Yeah, absolutely.
We bring together 60 of Utah's best artists.
We have 20 restaurant and caterers there that are doing samples of soups, breads, desserts, you name it, and in addition to that, you can learn about what we do, and everything that you do there, you are supporting the charitable care cause.
Your ticket money goes towards it.
If you buy art, our artists are donating 35% of what you spend back to us.
- What's your favorite part about the event?
- Oh my gosh.
That's a hard thing to say, because I love seeing the different mediums.
We have oils, acrylics, we have mixed mediums.
This year, we have a guy who takes the keyboards off of keys, off of your keyboards, or the keys off of the keyboards, and he creates art on it.
- Oh my gosh, okay, so there's something for everyone to check out and kind of enjoy.
- Yes.
- If you would like to attend "Art and Soup," we've got all the information for you on the screen.
