(gentle music) One of Seattle's oldest neighborhoods is the subject of a new theater production.
"People in the Square" is a cabaret-style musical review centered on the rich history of Pioneer Square.
The production is running now through the end of August at New Skid Row Theater, a newly revived flexible performance space located in the historic Good Arts Building.
The show explores the diverse inhabitants past and present of this legendary district and features an energetic quartet of professional singer actors.
Pioneer Square has recently faced negative perceptions due to a combination of pandemic-related closures, persistent homelessness, and concern about crime.
The writer, director Rose Cano and composer, David Nyberg, are hopeful that the theater will be part of an arts revival in the neighborhood.
