During the pandemic, Wes Yoo, owner of the Ballard Gastropub, The Gerald, pushed the reset button.
- [Wes] You Know, we're learning about this thing called Corona virus.
You know, I'm talking to my parents in Korea, and it's a big deal.
And then it just kind of came crashing down.
- [Starla] Then you found his moment of clarity.
He decided to lean into his own identity and switch his entire menu to celebrate the Korean food he grew up with.
- I started thinking, well, if I'm going down, I'm going down the way I'm on to.
Yeah, we went back to the drawing board, let's build this menu from ground up.
- [Starla] Our "Shared Table" Crosscut's latest video series tells the story of how Seattle is eating, growing, and cooking its way through troubling times by pouring their hearts and souls into their craft and finding new ways to feed others.
You and other folks in the dining industry saw something in the pandemic many of us missed, the chance to move forward.
