Who aren't my musical influences?

I've been listening to a lot of Big Thief and Mitski.

I really relate to their lyrical aspect of their creating.

I grew up in a really musical household, and we were pretty active in church, so I grew up singing.

I grew up in the arms of Jill Scott and Alicia Keys, but my parents listened to everything.

My dad was a pastor's kid, and he listened to AC/DC as rebellion.

And my mom would listen to Yo-Yo Ma and like Godsmack and Linkin Park.

It was really confusing, but it was really eye opening as a kid to have so much music, and it means so many different things to people, that I just became hungry for it.

But I like when I see stories reflected, and when I see openness, and just raw creativity rather than something that feels safe.
