- [Ava] I began drawing and painting, like when I was really young, but I didn't like get serious about it until I was maybe about 12.

And I had this friend that I would meet with afterschool every day and we would just always draw together.

So I think that made me like, get serious about it and want to like pursue it.

The type of art I like to create the most is painting and also like colored, pencil art.

I just, I liked the way they blend together a lot and I can use a lot of different colors to create something really cool.

This piece is two gouache heads that I painted.

I incorporated a row of eyes.

I tried to make it look like an illusion or something like that.

My biggest artistic accomplishment was when I won a gold key at the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

It made me feel like my art was like finally seen.

In my future, I think the role art would play is I'd love to go into animation.

I want to make something where people get emotional over it.
