At the Kansas Aviation Museum, Boeing built B-52D 55-094 Stratofortress sits proudly since 1990.
B-52D started service beginning March 4th, 1957, when it was delivered to th Loring Air Force Base in Maine.
It would have 31 assignments to 15 different units, including 11 times to Southeast Asia.
Designed as a high altitude nuclear bomber, then modified for conventional bombing missions in Vietnam.
B-52D had a bomb loa of 70,000 pounds, with maximum range of 8800 miles and maximum speed of 650mph.
One of the most successfu bombers ever built that is still in military service today with the B-52H model.
That's the military minute.
