The phone box that Kruz called from is a mile down the road from the crash.
So, we know he wasn't hurt.

-Did Dan know Kruz was in there?
-Well, of course he did.
He's the one who made him do it.
-You think Dan forced him?
-Well, Dan's only allowed to see him once a week, at our place or at his.
And we have to be there.
And it's only for a few hours.
So, clearly, he's furious about it.

-Kruz would never run away on purpose, especially with Dan.

Every time we get off the ferry at Dover, he looks terrified.

I babysat for him one time.

Dan's a bit of a prepper.
He drilled Kruz about where to hide out in the event of a global meltdown, or a nuclear apocalypse, that sort of thing.
He's given me a list of places he thinks Kruz could be hiding.
It's old bomb shelters and bunkers, that sort of thing.
Dan and Kruz's old haunts.
-I hope this isn't a wild goose chase.
-They're good hiding places.
-But why hide?
Why hasn't Kruz come home, or at least made contact?
-Dan used to take Kruz to these places every weekend before Sky moved him to France.
Maybe they make Kruz feel safe.
-I don't trust him.

-We can't afford to get this wrong.

-Some kind of code?

All that we know is that Kruz left a message for Dan -- a cryptic one by the sounds of it.
Something that only he'd understand.

-Yeah.
He say's he's got no idea what it means.
-Dan, he must have left the message for you because he thought you'd understand it.
-I don't.
-Well, wrack your brains, then.
-I told you where I think he is.
You checked all the places on the list?
-Yeah.
We're halfway through.
-Any luck?
-Nothing.
Why are you smiling?
-Maybe Kruz saw you coming.
Maybe... he doesn't want to be found.

Dan's brainwashed him.
Look, Dan knows what that message means.
He knows where Kruz is.

He came back a different person.
He got violent, and -- and scary.
How can I raise my child with someone like that?
Everyone called him a "hero."
-But they don't have to live with him.
-I didn't want to leave.
I wanted to make it work, but in the end... He said it was a sin to split up a father and son.

He never forgave me for taking Kruz away from him.

Sky said that Dan brainwashed Kruz.

♪♪ What if Dan's playing us?
He wasn't taking Kruz home.
He was actually running away with him.
Or worse -- He crashed the car on purpose.

-He might have thought, "If I can't have him, no one can."

♪♪ [Door closes] [Footsteps] ♪♪ -Leo.
[Exhales sharply] Oh.

[Siren wails] -Every other week, he drives across the border, and no one would suspect he's smuggling because Kruz is the perfect cover.

That's what Leo was looking for at Dan's.
-Must be drugs.
-Yeah.
