Today is a very special day for a Bad River.

For the Bad River community.

It's a result of collaboration between tribal leadership, community members, health care professionals, and federal partners.

The addition means more exam rooms, better equipment and space for mental health, dental and other preventative services.

Perhaps even more importantly, it means more space for compassion, understanding and healing in a way that respects who we are as a people.

On behalf of the Big Boy family, we would like to thank the health and wellness staff for recognizing my mother, Mary Bigboy.

This was a dream of my mother's.

She loved meeting people at the clinic, talking to them, asking them what they want and what they needed.

I remember playing ball.

In that little gymnasium in Saint Mary's.

Here we are now with this big, beautiful, beautiful facility so that the generations from many, many generations to come can enjoy this.

And I hope to live to see a time where I see a world class athletes, scholars, educators, practitioners come out of this community come as a result of what we put together.
