- The first thing that crossed my mind is is this a scam?

'Cause it (laughs) doesn't happen too often.

We were on the call with Pamela and Jocelyn and Sargent and with our program director Amaryllis Lopez and the feeling that we had after the call was that was a very wholesome conversation.

It felt real, it felt grounded.

It felt like we didn't have to, it felt like we didn't have to sell ourselves.

We just talked, and it had a little back and forth and it was beautiful.

And to have a process where we don't have to do an extensive application, answer these questions that most are relevant, but some are numbers-based, data-driven, all of these things that really kind of funneled into this capitalistic view of philanthropy.

To bypass that and to keep it grounded in the work and what we do, it was a totally unique experience in the funding process.
