It is the 3A Girls State championship game.
Mayflower and centerpoint.
Hello everybody, I'm Westmore, joined by Bobby Swofford.
Portside bodies.
This game is anything like the last game.
It's going to be a barn burner man, I'm worn out.
Last game it was so much fun to watch the bars been set pretty high all week.
We've already had two double overtime games in the first six state championship games this weekend, and now we've got six more.
Starting with the three girls kind of Mayflower night right now.
Yeah, Mayflower girls.
Then the Mayflower Boys play after this, but the Mayflower Girls will try to win their first state championship in school history, but they'll have to knock off center.
There's going to be a lot of purple in the arena here in Hot Springs, and I have a you mention it's never been done before.
For Mayflower gets a short drive from just outside of Conway.
You know they're going to be well represented.
Mayflower was five and five at one point this season, right?
And they've won their last 20 games, so they come in on a friend bad streak, right?
Yeah, 2 #1 seeds and Mayflower had for almost made quick work of the three.
A state tournament would take a look at the bracket, 3 double digit wins, including a 14 point win over top seeded Bergman 6349 in the semifinals, and you could see Centerpoint had a little tougher road to hold the margin of victory.
Not quite as large a good Valley, Springsteen, they.
Knocked off in the semifinals to get here you can see a couple of close wins at center point at each out in the quarters and semis.
Well, you get two of the best teams in the state and they've been playing that way all year.
And then you look at that road.
Yes, there are the two best teams and they are here for a reason.
We got some good players to keep an eye on 2 tonight.
I know my Flowers got a couple, but we're going to focus on one of those players, the Kamiyah Turner.
She can go.
Yeah, she can go and we'll start with with her.
I mean, it's really impressive what she's been able to do this season for Mayflower.
You mentioned the slow start.
Well, she's been going hard all season long.
15 points, ten rebounds.
That's got to be the focal point for center point to slow her down on the inside, and for Centerpoint, tell all the fans and the folks watching who they need to keep an eye on Marley.
Bryant is someone who does it all over the core.
You're talking about 13 1/2 points, five rebounds, five assists, does it on the defensive end?
She's #25 will be wearing black uniforms.
Keep an eye on her.
We will get you set for tip off when we come back.
It is the three eight girls State Championship game between center point.
In Mayflower.

Being introduced for Centerpoint in Mayflower as we get ready to tip off the three eight Girls State Championship game here at Bank Ozk Arena.
Westmore, Bobby Swafford with you thank you for joining us tonight.
Let's take a look at the starting lineups.
Will start with Mayflower may or 20 and five in the on the season and Cody storms their head coach.
Very happy.
He's very happy with the way this team is playing right now.
We told you about combining Turner.
She wears number 34.
Keep an eye on her.
But can't forget about Michaela Davis, #2, Jenna Macmillan, #3 Kennedy, Don 13, and Keira Fulton wearing #24 Mayflower.
With a good home crowd, are mayflowers technically the home team tonight a good crowd.
They they got pretty loud just in as they were introducing the.
Some of the Mayflower Girls, but then air Center .7 points represented well here.
Yeah, that's the beauty of the small school state championship games and three a qualifies as one of those is really the last person out of town.
Turned out the lights.
'cause everybody's going to be in Hot Springs tonight.
I was watching McMillan #3 that just came out shoot during warm up.
She could shoot it, shoot No Fear pulling it, nice stroke good.
Fundamentally, she's going to be fun to watch, so let's take a look at and talk about the center point girls, their starting lineup you got Sadie Killer #10 Monica Flores, a junior guard wearing #15 Emily Belletti, afford a senior forward.
She's in Jersey number 22 coming out right now.
Cheyenne Lambert, senior guard wearing #24 and the final starter for center Point, is smartly bright senior guard and take a look at Kennedy Dawn from Mayflower.
She's being introduced and going through the Mayflower huddle.
Yeah, you mention Emily will let their nine and a half points, four rebounds that good size.
You gotta imagine she's going to be matched up with Turner for most of the night on the interior at one match at the Circle 22 in Black versus 34 in White as you see can be a Turner announced in front of the crowd here in Hot Springs.
There are the starting lineups and they're ready to go ready to play ball.
The officials had the basketball we're getting set for jump ball in this 3A girls State Championship game is just moments away from getting started.
The teams are getting the last minute instructions from the coaches.
Barzman set pretty high today.
W 1st 2 games.
Last track that was at the 2A girls that was the first game of the day Six Point contest going into the fourth quarter.
The last one we had, the two eight boys.
Mary Anna Lee County eked out a double overtime win over Caddo Hills, and now we've got Mayflower and Centerpoints Duke it out for free a Girls championship.
For Kayla Davis will jump Center for.
Mayflower, but it's one by Emily Billet from Centerpoint, so Centerpoint.
Gets the ball first.
Mayflower playing man to man defense.
Centerpoint running their motion offense will pick and roll have a shot there, decided to wait.
Lot of cutting from Centerpoint.
Lot of movement screens finally get an open shot.
But look at Mayflower, they boxed out well there 3 Mayflower girls there for the rebound.
Nice job on the interior defense kind of setting the tone for how this first quarter is going to go.
Well, Mayflower is going to pack the paint.
Try to make Centerpoint beat them from the perimeter.
Jenna Mcmillen gives it up to Kira Fulton.
McMillan looked a little mad that she didn't get a shot off a second ago.
Just thought about it a few times.
Centerpoint knows she's a shooter.
Every time she touches it, they're ready.
A triple team.
As soon as my attorney caught it, there was three Centerpoint girls there surrounding her.
I think that's a pretty good indication how we're going to see center point guard Turner as soon as she catches the ball on the inbounds, they're going to collapse on her and trying to make someone else beat them other than 34.
Shot is blocked.
Marley, Brian got up and got a piece of that that was Emily Malete Arbalet knocking that away.
No score, each team has had the ball one time.
Lot of movement so far here for center point.
Feel at the start of this game.
That turnover just a bad pass.
Gotta settle the nerves the West we've seen it countless times.
Not just this year but years past it's who can settle in first calm the nerves, protect the basketball give yourself a chance after the opening 4 minutes or so.
Yeah, I saw it in the NCAA Tournament game with the Razorbacks today.
You don't say so if they can have nerves.
These girls can have nerves.
Found the settling in and is watching the ball go through the hoop for the first time.
It doesn't sound like much, but it's it can really settle you down because the zero on the scoreboard kind of rattle you a bit as a player as we're almost two minutes into this.
Want to see that ball go through the net and there's another bad pass.
It's going to be a turnover backcourt violation and Centerpoint Mayflower trading Miss Shots and turnovers.
No score yet.
2 minutes into the game.
Yeah, it's gotta settle the nerves.
Emotions are running high, the adrenaline's pumping.
Going to be able to slow down.
Collect yourself and make a play.
Marley Bright with it top of the key she walked.
Shuffle defeat for she really got set.
Almost like the brightness catch and shoot there.
Let one fly.
It's another one of those.
I think the nerves you mind just working a lot faster than your body right now and it's a big stage.
No calm down here in a second.
McMillan run in the office for Mayflower.
But the only time Turner is not going to be double teamed or triple teams when she catches it way out there.
Good point.
Fulton driving in looking inside, just couldn't connect.
Good idea she had Turner cutting.
I like to pick and pop action there.
If they collapse on Terry you can pull the jump shot and try to get a roll to the basket with a pass just out of the reach of Cerner.
Edward got some turnovers going on each side, two turnovers apiece, four in the game.
No score.
Only had two shots.
Yeah he seems only shot at once.
The stat sheet, identical turnovers field, goal percentage rebounds.
Scoreboard lot of zeros up there too.
Even the fans.
It's kind of quiet in.
Yeah, everybody's waiting for something to happen.
Need a spark?
We need to play 3 minutes into it.
Still scoreless.
A lot of times in a situation like this is your defense that finally gets you going.
You get a steal and layup and he just settles the nerves.
There's a good cut and a partially blocked shot.
Turner there for the rebound here comes me Flowers drop by Kennedy Dawn to get a hand on that shot, alter its chance for the Mayflower offense to get set up.
Good bump Val.
Right there is.
Jenna Macmillan was dropped trying to drive to the basket.
Almost halfway through the first quarter, we're waiting for our first made basket first whistle there.
Other than a turnover as well.
Macmillan.
Fires in the Open era Fulton with that shots.
No good.
Centerpoint good.
They did a good job of blocking out.
Good open look though.
If you're Mayflower you'll take that possession.
It's just good defense there by Turner on the block.
Forcible, let's take the tough jumper over her.
That one bounces out of bounds.
I watch Jenna Macmillan shoot that probably 15 times in warmups and.
She just brushed it just to her.
You just saw she just not quite comfortable.
That will slow things down and that shot will start falling.
The Kennedy Don did a good job playing defense on the other information flower she went up and.
Gave up Emily Belletti a little tough time to shoot that.
The two big post players down there pushing on each other, trying to establish position.
Good defense from McMillan.
Slow and methodical, remember there's no shot Clock in three a basketball.
They can work it around the perimeter as much as they want.
There's your first made basket of the game.
Came off of a pick and roll, freed her up a little bit.
Sadie Killer knocks it down.
Will bank shot the ice has been broken?
Maybe it all started onslaught of points here in Hot Springs.
Left hand floater.
No good Mayflower with the offensive rebound.
Nice job.
Kayla Davis to keep that one alive.
Coming back to a teammate, Macmillan getting the screen.
She's going to set things back up up top.
Patience working it around your team, really.
Forcing the issue.
Turner with the screen rolls to the basket, nothing there.
McMillan is going to try this side.
Look at all the attention on Turner just working hard in the paint lot of Black Jersey surrounding her.
Davis no rebound Centerpoint, Center point defense.
Gotta be frustratingly Mayflower up to this point as their struggling to get anything.
Marley Bright gives it up to Monica Flores, and she knocks down the three Centerpoint fans on their feet.
It's a nice job to set up the wide open look from Flores you mentioned.
It's bright drives.
The paint defense collapses on her, kicks it out for the open look.
5 nothing.
Centerpoint Mayflower looking for their first points.
Will try it.
Three, that's off the front of the rim.
No good for Kamiyah Turner.
Not many stoppages of play.
We're still waiting on the Under 4 timeout and got a minute 45 left in the first quarter.
Charlie Bright almost got to the basket.
Shall set things back up up top.
Over 6 from the floors Mayflower.
Centreport have started to settle in.
Flores will try to drive in.
She loses it.
Mayflower comes up with the loose ball.
They go to the floor for it.
Turner Hustle play pays off.
As faulted on the run.
Balls deflected out of bounds and we'll have our first media timeout.
Centerpoint leaves at 5 to nothing, one minute, 12 seconds to go in the first quarter you're watching the Centennial Bank State basketball championships in Arkansas.

AR PDS sports very slow.
Start for Mayflower lady.
Eagles haven't scored yet in the first quarter.
Oh for six from the field over three from the three point line.
The good news for them, though, center points if I put head so you're not out of this yet that I'm out there.
Maybe Draw Something up underneath the basket gets an easy look.
Turner, with that, they need to get her going.
He would think.
Get her down low and maybe get a basket that she averages 15 and 10 stat.
She's pretty empty right now for her though.
Turner is going to work.
She download blocks.
He's got position on that low post, spinning dishes into a teammate and rims out officer rebound.
That goes for Mayflower.
There they go, but Kayla Davis scores first two points in the game.
For Mayflower is not going to get credit with the assist, but a great look by Turner that post a post passing set up a good look.
Mayflower back in there man demand defense.
Florist drives to the whole.
And coach yelling instructions there don't change something up.
Probably hold for the final shot here down to 15 in this first quarter.
Lots of pics, lots of screens that shots no good.
5 seconds left.
See if McMillan can get a shot off.
She looks up at the Clock.
She's going to shock, so to shot it.
She's looked up at the Clock.
I thought she saw the Clock.
She probably looked up and couldn't find it.
Never never got the shot off.
That's the end of 1.
Center .5 Mayflower two second quarter action coming your way.

Mayflower Trails five to two.
As we start the second quarter, the good news is Mayflower scored the last two points, so they cut that center point lead to three.
Slow game in the first quarter.
Not a lot of action.
Not a lot of stoppages of plays.
You know there's a lot of you know trying to.
I hate to use the term.
The feeling out process without really what it seemed like.
They just working the ball around the perimeter.
How to find out what the other team is going to do is that was knocked out of bounds off of Mayflower player.
Florist Florist was all over that.
She got the deflection and then she was able to reach back and tap the ball off of the Mayflower Defendor Mayflower offensive players leg and it goes out of bounds off Mayflower.
So great play there from florists in both teams.
Now at three turnovers.
Oh D3 off the back of the rim.
Milling.
Went ahead and grabbed it before it went out of bounds.
I'll pick and roll McMillan to the basket.
No foul.
Called nice job.
By faletti.
They're in the paints altered that shot hold on the loose ball.
Belletti, a senior forward over the little size and linktone it makes it tough to drive into the Lane.
Have someone there to block the shots.
Floras inside.
She's fouled should go the free throw line.
I thought they might have forced that.
Went into the paint, but a nice job by floors to haul it in.
Try to go up draws a foul.
Gotta get Flores credits.
She made tough catch in there to disrupt between two defenders.
6/2 center point.
Turner with the rebound.
McMillan wanted to run, but Centerpoint already had three defenders back.
A flower hit one of their first nine shots.
I really haven't had a clean look at it.
Yeah, that came on and off center events, right?
Good offer to rebound from Mayflower.
Charlie Brown pulls out now.
She lived let's one fly from the corner.
Two on 2.
She would Centerpoint does with its side to pull it out, just didn't have the numbers they look they wanted.
Maybe one of those contests when we see the fast break points or eight to six when the games over.
Neither one of them have at least shown up to this point that they want to get out and run.
Bad reach in foul that time from Kennedy Dawn.
Trying to do too much.
Went over the top of the offensive post player.
Pick up a cheap foul.
Done communicating with their teammates, they're trying to.
But he's trying to screen everybody and she's trying to stay out of the way so that she doesn't pick off her teammates.
I strive there by bright.
Couldn't get the shot to fall but herself a trip to the line.
Marley Bryant was aggressive.
She went to the basket and had a little floater little half hook in there.
The patience of these two teams though West to start this game.
They're almost OK with, you know, burning 4550 seconds before they take a shot.
It's almost like it's been ingrained in their brain, but not force anything.
I thought for a minute it was, you know, feeling out process now.
They've had enough time to feel each other out.
I think they're both OK with just being really patient and having a slow game.
72 Mayflower just one of 11 from the floor to start this one.
You see two of seven for center point.
Anything OK?
How in the world are they not getting blown out and they've actually got a 5-4 lead?
Fulton, with it to Macmillan in the corner.
Macmillan lets it fly.
No good.
Some Mayflower changed a couple things up there.
They would make millions a good shooter and they're trying to get her in a position to shoot it.
And it's tougher when you're the point guard and you're all eyes are on you as you're dribbling out front.
That time they moved her off to the wing.
And they put Fulton as the point guard.
That was a good look from the corner high arcing three just off the mark.
Halfway through the second quarter.
572 center point again is going to reset the offense.
Good block out from Mayflower and Hickam's gym.
With Michaela Davis with it, Davis gives it to Turner.
Proud little walk officials did not oblige.
We go.
Davis, with the little 15 footer.
He's got all four points of for Mayflower.
Maybe that's the spark that they need as we're halfway home in the second quarter.
74 first half is flying by.
We went from one of the longest games with the state tournament in double overtime to maybe one of the fastest games.
Lady drives in and kicks out inside out ball movement but does not pay off.
Airball from Curry.
McMillan being hounded by the center point guards.
Good pass, nice.
Nice diagonal pass there Turner.
She's been good, hasn't scored yet, but the way she distributes the basketball, she sees the floor well.
Fulton with the basket.
761 point lead.
One point lead for center point.
Now it's a four point lead.
Giant Lambert letting it fly.
Actually that was Marley Bright.
The big response three there.
For center Point Mayflower started to get a little momentum going.
Buries the triple.
Maybe start to see the pace pick up part now.
Will success offensively.
Office of Glass again.
That time help James could not finish.
Yeah, those are the opportunities you have to cash in on if you're Davison Mayflower.
Flores drives kicks.
She's gonna get it back.
Good job Macmillan picking up helping out certain.
See Mayflower get up a little tighter defensively.
The lady with the basket.
Good play by Precious Anderson into the game.
She drove in and.
Instead of looking to score, she found Belletti for the easy layup.
Just like the first half will wear well past the media stoppage.
The first quarter, excuse me.
Patience is a virtue here.
That's another offer to rebound from Mayflower, but they couldn't haul it in.
Full hustle play from Centerpoint.
Blue Cross midcourt with about a minute to go in the first half 12/6.
Mayflower Flower starting to switch on the screens now they were trying to fight through the screens earlier, McMillan.
Fulton are switching.
They called him on the switch, Flores.
Stops and drops it.
Now we got a time out from Mayflower.
Cody Storm, seen enough.
Gotta talk to his girl with this 15 to 6.
80 run for center Point long scoring drought.
232 for Mayflower.
Gotta call time out for this one gets away.
You are watching this.

Mayflower.
Looking for spark.
It's been a tough shooting night for them so far over 7 from the three point line 3 for 17 overall.
Governor Turner's gotta knock that down if they're not going to player right there from 1617 feet, she's gotta make him pay and she did.
That could be a big confidence boost for both she and the Lady Eagles going into the locker room.
Big final possession for both teams.
Momentum play right here.
5 seconds long.
Three airball sip.
Mayflower can get off a shot one second two, it's going to be short, not your halftime score.
Center Point 15 Mayflower 8.
Defensive futility.
That's what we're going to say.
Good defense in the first half.
Stick with that good tough defense halftime shows coming up.
We'll hear from Doreen.
Kraft will be back here.

PBS sports.
Hello and welcome to the Arkansas PBS Force halftime show.
I'm doing craft coming to you from the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame in North Little Rock will take you back to the girls 3A final at Bank Ozk Arena in just a bit.
But first, a story that hits close to home over the past 20 years.
Participation in competitive sports for home school students has truly evolved the Faulkner County Home School Athletics Association is one of several leagues in the state that offers basketball, volleyball and other activities for kids.
Age 8 and up.
Let's take a look at two athletes who have excelled in the program.
A typical day for me is very busy.
Usually this is probably been my busiest year.
Home school basketball is something that I've been involved in since I was 12.
Monday, Wednesday, Friday we have practice so mornings that I have practice.
I get home.
I eat and shower and get any school done.
I need because I kind of have classes periodically.
I think Captain I try to just encourage the other girls and get them going and not necessarily be in charge all the time but just try to be that person to step up and fill the place that I need to fill.
Hopefully I'm doing a good job with that.
For me it's about teamwork.
We had a rough start at the beginning of the season, but here at the second half of the season we've done a great job at keeping up and win our games.
Alright, Association is a volunteer based program.
We give the kids an opportunity that are homeschool students to compete in sports.
Teach them to work together as a team.
We're trying to help build life skills as they go forward in their adulthood.
If you're home schooled probably 20 years ago, there really wasn't athletics.
So you were kind of secluded, but now we have baseball.
We've got soccer, we've got basketball, softball, volleyball, so there's a lot of things that you can do as a homeschool student to be included for.
Our program will become family and just being a part of that team.
We're going on 25 years that the program's been existence.
We just have a bunch of home school families that have come together that decided to put together a program where we can allow our children to have competitive team sports to participate in.
Going and watching them compete and wrote them on its competitive just like public school.
It's been very valuable to us to see them grow up together and learn to compete together.
Learn how to win and lose together.
It's just such a positive, encouraging environment to be able to grow as a player.
Our coaches are always so supportive, but it's very competitive and we're learning you put the time in and practice to be able to play in the game.
And it's the hustle that you show in the effort that you put in that get you that time.
And our girls have worked really hard to do that.
Coach Jeff, he's a great coach to play under.
He's a good teacher.
He's got some great drills that were in practice and then he just always there for you and has given me lots of tips that have helped me in the second half of the season.
Getting back from my ACL tear at the start of the season.
He was a little timid feed interest his leg, but as the seasons progressed he started coming on here at the end and hitting a lot of threes.
Forming admires determination to get back on the court.
It's an honor to get to coach these young men summer driving in 5:30 AM in the morning to get here to practice is about 6:20 and we practice 633 days a week.
You can see whenever people really start to step out of their comfort zone and into the role they play on the Koran.
Just Excel there.
So I love playing in an environment that just really encourages that and lifts everybody up, but is working on building you up as well as a player and as a person.
So we've been blessed to have some really good coaches.
These guys pour their heart and soul into what they do and they don't get paid.
They do it 'cause I love the kids and I love the sport were very good about the team environment loving on each other, praying for each other.
It's just a great program.
It's definitely made me a better coach and these kids have definitely made me a better person too.
'cause I learned a lot from them.
The Faulkner County Homeschool Athletics Association has been offering competitive sports since 1995.
We wish Chloe in Grant much success as they continue their education.
OK, let's meet another student athlete.
Our own RJ Hawk had the opportunity recently to catch up with Bethany Dillard from Central Arkansas Christian High School RJ take it away.
Thanks guys.
I'm with Bethany Dillard right now from CAC and Bethany at boy you know, you talk about leadership.
On a team, usually you think 1234 seniors.
You're the lone senior on this basketball team.
Is there a lot of pressure on you?
I mean, you're the upperclassmen team you got all the underclassmen looking issue.
Is there a little bit of pressure on you?
If it wasn't my first year being a leader, it probably would be a little more pressure, but I've kind of.
Dealt with the leadership role a couple of years, so not as much pressure do you think?
What's what's this team like for you?
I mean, you've got some underclassmen.
But in order to get the ultimate Championship, which, which is a state championship, you've got to have a a good bond.
A good, you know teamwork really.
So what's the what's it like with this team and you working together?
It's definitely different from last year.
Last year we actually had four seniors and then me and then a couple of couple sophomores.
But this year we have eight sophomores, so bringing up the younger ones, mixing in with us.
It's been a little more difficult than the past years, but I think we're finally starting to mold together and it's working out pretty well.
What's it been like during the pandemic?
You know, trying to get ready for a basketball season?
You've got younger people on your team.
What's that been like trying to?
Maneuver the offseason and get ready for this year.
It's been difficult to say the least.
We've actually gotten quarantined twice, so we missed a couple of games, but then we had to make him up so we had a couple of games back to back, which was definitely more difficult for our younger ones, 'cause they haven't been able to like.
It was more of a tournament scenario where you play back to back games, but it's definitely been a journey to say what's life after high school.
Look like for you.
Will actually be attending Union University in Jackson, TN to play basketball under Mark Campbell.
And there I hope to do to join the pre PT program.
And then it quickly became a physical therapist.
Really OK, so you just gonna play basketball in college.
I mean, this is not a lot of kids get that opportunity to go to the next level for you getting that basketball scholarship to pay for your school.
What's that mean to you?
It meant the world I've actually been playing basketball since I was super young and it's just.
It's been a lifetime at work and it was a they get that first call from a college saying that you got a scholarship is awesome.
Well, I know that you're going to do great things over in Union and Dan.
I'm looking forward to following you as well as the state of Arkansas keeping up with what you have to do, but you still have some season left, so you've got the rest of the school year to maneuver.
So enjoy the time.
Enjoy being a senior in high school and we wish you the best of luck.
Thank you guys.
Another rising star that is going to go on to do great things in this country.
Looking forward to seeing where Bethany goes.
We're going to send it back out to you at the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.
Thanks RJ.
Always great to hear about students doing well on and off the court.
Let's check in with our Arkansas PBS mascot Clifford, the Big Red Dog.
As he learns more about the rules and regulations of basketball, here's Paul calls.
All calls.
Rivery Derrick Lewis and his daughter, referee Erica Lewis, hold.
Is typically when someone grabs you by the Jersey about armor bearers.
The car will be here without close fist.
You were sitting on hold here and you won't give the number.
That's what that's what I'm holding is.
Gotta play defense with your feet Clifford.
Those bear hugs will get you a whistle every time.

That's going to do it for the halftime show.
Let's get you back to bank Ozk Arena for the second half of the girls.
3/8 championship on your home for the high school state basketball finals.
Arkansas PBS.
Low scoring first half of the three a girls State championship game between Mayflower and Center Point 15 to 8.
Your score at the half, and Monica Flores.
That's the big difference in this ball game.
She had a good shooting half and that's the point center point needed to take this League.
Yeah, she's got 7 points knocked on a real big three pointer.
That kind of.
Took the lid off the basket for center point on the other end of the sling though.
Mayflower really hasn't gotten things going and you can see by the shooting percentage 22% from the field is 4 of 18.
Never got into a rhythm, never got into a flow offensively.
I want to Mayflower come out of the locker room and they just walked almost slowly under the court.
After talking with their coach at halftime.
I don't know, they're mad as they were upset.
I don't know.
I don't know.
They just just didn't seem like they were excited to fired up.
Maybe they're on a mission in there.
They're about to do something different in the second half.
I'm going as we look at the first half highlights and you think yourself if you're Mayflower, maybe the worst hats we played all season long and you're only down by 7 points.
I mean, they've got a real chance of of making him run here early third quarter and all of a sudden we've got a new ball game.
Neither.
Team has ever won a state championship, so this is something different.
Alot of pressure here and I felt like that was a big factor in the first half.
Neither one.
I'm really relaxed and settled in.
Will see if maybe the second half we start to see that it seemed real tight and no flow.
Not a lot of movement either way.
Offensively, let's see if they tried two different looks here in the third quarter.
I joked about it, but honestly, I saw this out of the Razorbacks in the first half of their game.
They look tight.
There wasn't flow in the office.
It didn't look like the same team I've been watching all year.
It took awhile, but they finally got that.
Found that offense found that flow and looked a lot better in the second half.
Will see if that happens with these two teams.
I think we're going to isolate whistle there.
I think we're going to see a lot of that in the second half.
Just get the ball inside.
And of course, the Mayflower about crowd.
Non happy with how late that whistle came.
The lady will go to the free throw line, yet she had shot the ball missed it.
Mayflower had the rebound and they were taken off the run with it.
When the whistle blew.
It's not that not that the foul was called, it's when it was called.
You obviously want that come out as early as possible.
First, free throw is good to take a look at the replay.
Not a lot of contact there.
You see when his hand was up they already had the rebound.
They were looking to pass it.
We got a Lane violation.
She missed it anyway, but we're going back the other way.
16 to 8 so Centerpoint has doubled up Mayflower, but as poorly as they shot the ball as poorly as they play, their only down eight.
It's a great point Bobby.
Centerpoint packing in that zone, basically daring Mayflower to shoot it.
They had success on their opening possession.
Didn't score post a post passing that was another good look for Turner.
Couldn't handle it.
Trying to get into blending Mcmillian McMillan Stills.
She's going the other way around the back to the basket and one no foul called.
That's big.
Get something going in transition and maybe that will spark your offense.
Look at Macmillan totally different look on her face.
See a ball.
Go through the net that you shot.
It changes everything.
It really does just the confidence.
Looking to get it inside the Belletti.
Nice job of Mayflower.
Just tipping it away.
Kennedy Dawn is cleared the conversation in the Centerpoint Locker room at the half time was jammed.
Inside were not getting good.
Looks on the perimeter.
Let's jam it in to Emily on the block.
See if we can get her going at Sparker run.
They use Belletti a lot for screens up top and then after she screams which will do is just kind of roll down and try to pin her post player.
Yep, stretching out the defense the man demand for Mayflower.
Good cut by Flores but she's unable to bring in the past, and that's a turnover for center Point Mayflower running.
Macmillan try to do it again.
Second possession role that time the layup doesn't fall, but Mayflower will get the ball inbounds, inbound it from underneath the basket.
Yeah, I like the aggressiveness of Macmillan.
Just nothing flowing offensively.
The point guard kind of taking things in their own hands and pushing the tempo.
Look like every little given.
Go that timer Fulton before and didn't go and get it back.
Centerpoint intercepts it.
Let again hit the ball in the farm block.
Nice get past, get the ball high through some contact with the body and they're going to get Kennedy down with the bump.
Here's a good look at the replay.
That right arm mother got into the mix session.
Anytime an official sees an arm and a hand come down like that a swatting action.
Doesn't necessarily have to make strong contact.
Yeah, it's just that motion makes blow that whistle.
No harm, only the foul.
Flash drive.
Once again, can't finish down there.
How many layups is that?
We've seen Miss, that's a that's a good drive by Davis but she couldn't finish.
Thought about the three.
In three minutes into this third quarter, and his office is still looking for a rhythm or flow.
Six point game.
Only three points scored so far in the second half.
Turner knocked down that long jumper late in the second quarter, thought that might give her some confidence.
With Mayflower hasn't tried to get it to here in this third, they turn it over.
They did a pretty good job in the first half of taking care of the basketball.
Each team had three turnovers in the first half and already in this.
Quarter alone, Centerpoint has three turnovers and Mayflower has three turnovers.
Yeah, you think that the turnovers are going to come earlier?
Then you settle down and now these offenses I think or maybe even pressing a little much because how poorly they played in the first half.
Trying to speed things up, doing things out of their comfort zone is center point's going to take a time out.
See what he draws up over there.
He's got the clipboard out.
He there's something he wants to do.
That's why he called that timeout.
In a game like this, slow paced game.
You know honestly, every possession is valuable for this.
I mean, because you're talking about, well, I mean execution wise, not really working either way.
Mayflower shouldn't 24% Centerpoint a touch better at 36% every possession?
Big A6 point lead seems massive.
Right now the way that these two teams are playing so you can bump that to 8, maybe 9.
You're going to feel pretty good about yourself and Mayflower.
His hasn't hit the 3:00 tonight so there over 7 so A6 point game in a lot of games.
That's a two possession game for a game like this.
It feels like a three possession game.
And then the way they're shooting, it feels like a six or seven possession game.
Surprising the point totals in both teams were in the 40s in the first rounds, 40s again the second rounds.
Mayflower scored 63 in the semifinal, so you know the offense is there.
We haven't had a chance to see it yet.
Really got that motion offense picked up cutting.
That's a backdoor cut good pass.
Just knocked away from Mayflower Deck.
Good help defense.
Yeah, good help.
Defense to my Kennedy down on the backside, Macmillan to the basket, rolls off the rim.
She'll go to the free throw wide.
So Mayflower will try to cut into this six point lead when we come back you are watching the Centennial Bank State Basketball championships on Arkansas.

First, free throw of the game from Mayflower.
Good.
Jenna Macmillan goes the free throw line, knocks down the first one.
Mayflower played almost 2 1/2.
Well yeah, 2 1/2 quarters had attempted the free throw.
She knocks down both, cuts it to 16 to 12.
Four point game midway through the third quarter of this 3/8 Girls State Championship game.
Low scoring game.
That was just the fifth point of the quarter, but Mayflower has outscored center Point 4 to one.
Only Belletti was ready for that ball.
She had her hands down to set the screen.
They pass it to her.
She had a flip up her hands real quick.
Slow, methodical.
Look here, Mayflowers can get charged the blocking call.
Just a second or third team foul on Mayflower.
Centerpoint's been called for one this quarter.
They get the ball in there they go.
Oh 9000 and called the entire contest.
Gonna loose ball and Turner able to pick it off the hardwood.
Good job, McMillan.
Being patient, she had defender right behind her, ready to steal the ball.
Sushi put it down.
She looked around and took care of the basketball.
Email and driving again.
See more of that from her in the second half, trying to take over offensively and not a bad idea like that.
Charge I thought I saw that one coming and great job by Carla Brown to get in front and take that hit.
Yeah Brown.
Watch the replay.
She set the whole time watching yes.
Long time she stood there.
She might have been falling backwards a little before the contact, but that was a clear call.
Oh yeah, she sold it now she sold it, but that's part of it.
Yeah we saw the flop of a century in the first or second game today that to a boys the double flop, the double flop, two at the same time on the block.
To see if Mayflower can take advantage, cut into this lead.
They work it inside, they get it inside.
Mayflower fans aren't going to like that.
Yeah, they get Turner with the offered the foul.
It few times we've been able to get the ball to the Commedia Turner on the block.
She has just two points.
But they get her.
Contact look at the replace if that's a make up call.
How does Modesty penalized for the size difference?
There always hated that when I was bigger than the player just because they fall, it doesn't mean it's my fault exactly.
You feel my pain.
I very much do.
1612 Four point Game 2 minutes ago in the third quarter.
Floor as the offensive spark for center point.
She leads all scorers with seven points.
The 3% Macmillan got her on the arm.
There was a little contact there as soon as you released the basketball.
And the melon doesn't like it.
But I think there was a little Contacts on the forearm.
Now here you go.
Take a look at it.
And the follow through lock down the 1st.
2323 there big big break for center point.
Right makes it a six point lead for center point.
We cut to the basket.
That she was going to shoot it instead of passing it.
Yeah, Flores did a nice job of cutting her off from the baseline, kept her arms in the passing Lane to flex it out of bounds for Kayla Davis.
Good drive through the hole.
Mayflower keeps possession.
They throw it and Macmillan.
I will try 3 off the front of the rim Mayflower there scrapping for the rebound ground got it.
Gets it to Macmillan Good hustle play.
No, it's gonna set everything back up.
Charlie Brown drew a charge that time.
She gets down on their knees and gets the officer rebound Macmillan for three Bam right in front of us, and that was good the whole way.
High, arcing.
3 There's enough arch on that when it left the view of the camera, but it tickles the twine and the deficit.
Just three cuts the lead in half 1815.
Crawled right over the basket.
Marlee bright getting it done.
That's a big answer.
Basket for bright.
She's got 8.
Brown with it.
She thought about it.
They're going to try to get it to Macmillan.
She'll shoot another three.
She wants it.
Browns gonna take it.
Good postposition, good rebound.
Turner, you just saw working inside getting that position.
She was able to get that offensive rebound, put it back up, get fouled.
But let's with the block with a great offensive board goes up strong and it's either contact on the off arm there, so it's going to send Kimia Turner to the line prepare.
Really think that Mayflower?
If they're going to make a real run at this late in the fourth quarter, they've got to get Turner going.
Turner misses the second one.
She's got three points.
Macmillan leads Mayflower with seven.
Last 10 seconds of the third quarter.
Double dribble.
Let's see that call often anymore.
10 seconds mayflowers got 10 seconds.
Try to get a shot off Mayflower shooting just 24%, but they're going to have a chance in the fourth quarter.
One championship.
McMillan wants it.
Can't get it, but how about that pass?
Brown converts.
Mayflower with a little momentum as we had in the third quarter, they trailed by two.
It's 20 to 18 Mayflower doubling up Centerpoint 4:50 in the third quarter to make this a ball game fourth quarter actually coming up next year watching the Centennial Bank State Basketball championships on Arkansas.

Victor quarter for Mayflower.
Macmillan with the three huge play and then right at the end of the quarter, Fulton to Brown and we got a two point game as we had to the fourth quarter.
*** **** without you Arkansas PBS for could not be possible.
Consider becoming a member.
Support Arkansas High School sports, but my arkansaspbs.org Mayflower first possession of the fourth quarter.
Fulton, the Brown McMillan.
She'll take a deep three it's short way short.
He's telling her, teammate, us, my fault, that's my fault.
She wanted that though.
Closer to spend the West since it was seven to six early early second quarter.
Right looks to penetrate.
Now 4 Flores to the basket.
No foul, good rebound.
Maya Turner Macmillan's bringing it the other way chance to take the lead or tide the game.
God looked at the high post.
That's the one thing Mayflower really hasn't done.
Much is attack the middle of his defense.
Davis catches at the foul line, turns knocks down the jumper chance for the old fashioned 3 point play, and give me flower.
Their first lead Davis taking it to the letter.
I thought she was gonna just shoot it from about 14 feet, but she took a dribble and went after a tie game.
Balls going out of bounds.
Can Mayflower save it?
They do.
Momentum is switching Mayflower fans behind us on their feet.
Centerpoint fans across just sitting there wondering what is going on 20 to 27 minutes.
And some change to go.
Another drive to the basket and another foul.
Starting to see Mayflower get more aggressive offensively and attacking the interior of that center point defense.
Last two possessions have been good looks, one got a bucket.
This one goes to the foul line.
See what they're doing.
A lot better job of spreading out that center point zone.
That zone was so tight and in the Lane, and there was just nowhere to drive.
And now at least they've got Centerpoint outside of the Lane and it's opening up some driving possibilities.
Yeah, really good adjustment by Coach Brighton Company or excuse me Coach storms one or two for Fulton.
So they had to leave firstly.
2120 Here comes center point.
Centerpoint will shoot it from 15 feet.
That's good, so the older Swift takes the lead back.
Never leave.
Change Flores nothing but net I'm not 18 footer.
Brown in the corner.
Mayflowers also adjusted a little bit.
They've had two big post players in the game.
Now they've just gone with a single post player and kamiyah Turner.
We see Fulton playing power forward.
I've got more guards in there.
Mayflower forking it around again.
We saw a lot of this in the first quarter, working around the perimeter usability as a Screener up top.
But that also does the blessing that keeps Turner out of the Lane.
Opportunity to drive.
5 minutes.
50 seconds.
In this fourth quarter.
Great pass this a good touch pass inside to Belletti let's give Sadie Cilip some credit fair as a really good look in a nice finish.
My Belletti ice cut to the backside of the rim.
A perfect pass and we back to three for the Lady Knights.
That's a tough pass.
There's another good pass and another good conversion Kamaya Turner with the basket timeout Mayflower.
Nice shot, my Turner nice high catch, able to finish off the glass.
We got a one point Game 524.
It will kill us through that pass inside to Belletti.
I thought that was a turnover.
I thought.
Well, where are you throwing that?
But what you're taught is to throw it to that corner of the backboard.
That far corner you aim at that.
You put it there and Belletti goes there.
You see it just right out of the outreached arms of Turner.
I mean you could have drawn that up any better, excellent execution.
And then on the other end, Turner answers offensively and we start to see the stuff we might see it earlier in the game.
You know, Turner and bloody going at it.
But better late than never, one of the key things for any good post player is the entry pass you the bad entry pass.
It just shows that you can have the best position in the world you're holding off your defender and a bad entry pass messes everything up.
We just saw two really good entry passes to post players.
They converted on basket.
Yeah, you think about it and you know post players get a bad rap it's ago.
Why didn't you catch that pass?
It really does.
It really does matter.
You throw it down after feet.
Smaller defender has a chance to come in and grab the basketball.
Gotta hit him in stride.
Two really good examples of it.
It's a good point West.
2423 center point with the lead.
We got five minutes and 20 seconds.
Mayflower scored and.
Coach Cody Storms wanted time out.
He wanted to talk about something.
Mayflower went out.
Pressing full trap quickly bright brakeset.
There's the double team Precious has it.
Hey what Mayflower stepped up their defensive intensity on that possession.
Yeah, they turned it up.
They went full court pressure center point.
Got it across the timeline with no trouble within a loose ball foul there.
The next one is going to send the Lady Knights to the foul line and coach Brian's going to take a time out to talk about things.
Well, you look at the numbers for center point 44 percent, 50% from deep turnovers aren't outrageous.
This 10 in this contest.
No float that most pace of play to this game and I think that's why we're looking at a 2423 match up and Midway 4th or yeah, it's a pace.
I mean how many possessions have we seen where they pass it around for a minute and not really even attacked the basket?
They were just playing catch out there and the zone really affected Mayflower for awhile I think they have figured some things out and made some adjustments but Coach storms done a good job with spacing on that zone and now you're seeing Centerpoint.
Figuring some things out that Mayflower was giving them some troubles.
Centerpoint only scored five points in the third quarter.
They got a couple of baskets here.
The pace of this game, and obviously you can't do this because the game would be different if they had a shot Clock, but we that we would have seen 10 or 15 shot Clock violations just in a number of possessions instead of taking 3540, maybe even 50 seconds to develop.
Yeah, so this would be a good example of why you want to do exactly that.
It would speed it up and make the girls get into their offense and it would be a better game.
Would be a more entertaining game.
It's on our wish list.
Flores will get him set up.
Mayflower with the big steal.
The fans were calling for it and they got it.
Here's the steel going to the other end, but they poke it away.
Centerpoint hope to the way.
Good job.
On the transition defense.
18 straight turnovers.
I will see how aggressive Centerpoint wants to be with a one point lead.
Precious drops baseline.
She's double teamed looking for some help from Bledding.
She gets it 3 point attempt off the side of the rim.
Brown gets it.
Brown's double team, but she gives it up to Macmillan.
Mayflower with just take the lead.
Yeah, might have been rushed.
3 pointer there maybe not the best look you want to Coach Brighton Company.
If Davis doesn't drive to the hole.
She's looking to cut.
And we're having success or getting to the top of the key attack.
The middle of a defense.
There it is.
Back out to Macmillan.
She wants to go the basket.
She's got a good path in the layup.
What open Lane Mayflower?
Quickly back out in front.
Last time Mayflower took the lead center point quickly answered retook the lead, see if they can do it again.
Bright wants the ball.
Get the screen from Balete.
Coaches.
Getting them to change up something.
Will pick and roll action bright.
Just didn't have it.
There's a steel Mayflower needed coast to coast.
Layup is good.
I like what Davis did there.
She slowed down and kind of composed herself to make sure she finished off the window.
Push the League of three which is the largest leader day for Mayflower, Kayla Davis Forest to tie.
No good big rebound from a flower.
Turner comes up huge.
Nice job.
I turn into Sky over the offensive rebounders secure that for the Lady Eagles Davis now with eight points from Mayflower Macmillan 9 Turner with five.
Davis with it in the corner.
Brown at the top of the key CR.
Centerpoint mandelman.
Now they got out of that zone.
Mcmillan's had some successes, second half, drop it in the basket, she missed her teammate.
Davis was wide open and just Mr. Mayflower, those are three point lead their content running a little time and the center point coach looks right yelling at his team to call a foul.
Brown was fouled Brown will go the free throw line.
Nope, not yet.
One more.
Noble Team is now going to be in the bonus after this one.
For 16,000 we got the media timeout.
Alright many 58 to go in this game.
Good finish setting up 2724 Mayflower.

Mayflower on A6 O run over the last three and a half minutes of the game that has given them a 3 point lead.
So from 3 down to three ahead and now they look to add to it.
Then at 55 to go in the game like Centerpoint wants to foul.
They may have found a little too early.
I thought they were bout to create a turnover, some Davis to the foul line for the one and one.
17 father on the Lady Knights David.
So for one at the free throw line today.
As a team Mayflowers 447 that's 57%.
Big opportunity for Mayflower here.
Make it a two possession game.
Too strong.
Val paid off.
I have another couple of one and one's coming.
Right, the Belletti bloody loses it.
Mayflower with another steel.
Up ahead layup.
No good offer to rebound.
Though it's taken away.
I thought Mayflower had a chance for the rebound, but give bright credit.
She got in there good hustle play.
Yeah, I thought Keira Fulton loss control over there.
She went up and that's a that's a bad foul if you're Mayflower 85 feet away from the basket and give him a touch foul when you sent center point to the foul line.
Just looked like Fulton was too far under the basket and just couldn't lean back far enough.
Right?
Hits the big free throw.
Minute 33 to go 2 point game.
That's a big swing.
You miss a layup, you give up a foul.
Now Centerpoint, you got a chance to pull this in within one.
Yeah, offensively Centerpoint hasn't been able to get anything going neighborhood.
They've only scored up to that free throw.
Nine points this half Yep.
And to send them to the free throw line.
Big mistake Belletti with the officer rebound, but she cannot convert.
Mayflower gets the rebound.
I tried to force the put back there.
Well off the mark about bright from behind the hustle play steals the ball.
Two point game Minute 20 to go.
Brighton Flores two man game.
Kind of a pick and roll given each other screens.
Browser push through screen.
Campbell added to the foul line that are struggles at the stripe though.
One of three.
And Brown never saw blood she didn't know she was there.
That's a teammate.
Needs to let her know screen screen screen left.
No one told her.
Big free throws there probably louder atmospheres they played into, so the communication may be a little tougher.
One point game Belletti a chance to tie things up.
Clutch.
You think back Mayflower had just stolen the ball 3 point?
Lee, they go down turnover, yeah, and a foul.
One or two from center point.
Then they have another turnover, right foul had the opportunity to go up by 5:00.
You missed the layup to commit the foul 8590 feet away from the basket, and because of that center point able to fight back.
As you mentioned that the offensive rebound on Wanna Miss free throws.
Not a great sequence there for me.
Flower butts.
The good part of it is they've got the basketball.
If they choose to.
Maybe even milk this down and take the final shot.
You saw one of the turnovers when bright stripped it from behind.
There's the following Brown when she did.
Nobody was there and ran into her, sent her to the free throw line.
The last three points for center points come from the free throw line we mentioned.
They've been.
It's been a struggle for both teams offensively, but especially center point in the second half and two foul them send them to the free throw line.
It's almost that's a gift.
It's a gift in a game like this.
2727 minute 2 to go Mayflower with the ball.
I'm gonna go to link to about the courts.
102 left.
Let's see what coach Cody Storms Group and the Timeout's Centerpoint's going to pick him up full court.
Under a minute.
Then you get MMR ball at their face guarding her.
Though if precious Anderson I'm trying to dynamic milling evolved deflected it.
Able to handle.
Don't want to garner too close?
You don't want to send it to the free throw line with the cheap foul.
There is a bonus now.
Yeah, Mayflower going to be pretty methodical with this though and so they're going to try to work this for the final shot.
They're not even to come out and guard Kira Fulton.
She can stand out there and dribble for as long as she wants to.
Yeah, at this point with just 25 seconds left, there's no reason Centerpoint should ever touch the ball again or shoot the ball again.
You want to make sure you get the last shot, yeah?
Brown with it and they're still trying to get it to.
McMillan Mcmillan's got it?
She's going to be double team she wants to get to the basket.
Has to give it up.
5 seconds to go.
Drive to the whole way up.
Girl for Mayflower 2 seconds to go.
Time out Singapore Davis, who's missed a couple of big shots in the paint, put one home when it matters most.
And the Lady Knights at just two seconds.
What a look there by Fulton Fulton.
A great pass.
Holton to Davis give Davis credit for the cut.
Under the basket ball goes through with about 3 seconds left.
They gave Centreport the timeout with two seconds left.
So they're going to have to go to the link to the court.
They don't advance it in high school.
So we're going to have to go 94 feet.
They want to try to prolong this game or win it.
Love the reaction after that.
Made shine nothing but pure emotion there.
She knows she's been fighting it all day.
Their whole team's been struggling 35% from the floor.
Want to jump for joy?
Davis, now 5 of 11 from the field.
She has 10 points to lead Mayflower.
Six rebounds for Davis through Mayflower.
One thing you cannot do is foul, but you're going to make Centerpoint catch it.
Preferably not going towards their own basket.
Try to keep their momentum away from going towards their own hoop.
And then just get out of the way and make him beat you with a 75 footer.
You basically can catch it, take one dribble and shoot with two seconds.
Another time out.
Those were I didn't like the look.
Look at that last basket was 539.
Four out of their last five four game that's had poor shooting.
That's a hot streak.
Mayflower had eight points in the first half.
You can't really call it an explosion, but they've really turned it up in the second half.
Save the best for last month, Centerpoints got 7 points in this quarter, 12 in the entire second half, but three of the seven points throughout the free throws, right?
Yeah, and two of those were a gift.
Yeah, great job defensively by Mayflower.
Will see here if they can close it out and take home their first state championship.
And now we have another timeout.
The chess match they saw Balletti down here by herself around the three point line.
Center pulling out of timeouts.
Mayflowers also got a few left.
Draw it up, draw it up again and these are the places you work on all the time in the summer.
The fall in the winter is practice is he think that it's never going to end.
You work on these.
Full court please.
For moments like this was.
You have the one thing I'm sure Cody storms that may Flowers telling his girls do not foul.
We cannot send them to the free throw line.
You gotta move your feet and I if you have to just get away because the last thing you can do is send up to the foul line for the chance to tie the game.
So Centerpoints coach just speaking with the referee.
I think he was double check and make sure that they could still run the baseline after the call time out.
Yeah, there's been three timeouts called since that last made bucket.
Seems like it was an hour ago and you know what does with the Mayflower crowd and this Mayflower team.
We'll see what Coach John Brights drawn up.
I would look for him for Flores to be running the baseline since he was asking if they could do it.
You want to try to get it to Brighton while she's running.
Well.
There's not enough time in Mayflower storms, of course.
They've got a dogpile at midcourt after winning 29.
In 27 over center toys.
One an effort in the second half.
We struggled so much from the floor to get anything going offensively.
Eight points in the first half and able to have your defense keep you in the contest when your office was struggling and then they make the people's late.
The jubilation, the smiles, some tears for the first time ever, the Mayflower Girls are the Arkansas basketball champions.
Davis finished with a game High 10 or team High 10.
Six of those in the second half, and she hit the game winner.
3 seconds left got the land in the paint.
Davis with 10 McMillan, 9 Turner, 5 Fulton three and a huge assist.
Oh, but that was the best masseuse all day.
The center point leading the way was bright.
She had 11.
Three or five shooting.
She made her only three pointer.
She attempted four of seven from the free throw line.
Aladdin floors each had seven.
Yeah, you mentioned at the top of the broadcast West Mayflower 120 in a row that they don't know what it's like to lose anymore.
Start the season five and five and it was 21 straight victories.
And this this hardware.
They're about to pick up what they came for.
There were five and five had some issues with Covid.
Got that fixed.
The next thing you know they've won 2021 in a row now.
We'll take a break when we come back, we'll hear from coach storms and some of the Lady Eagles.

There's a loss at the Mayflower MVP and what a game.
Macmillan.
She really turned it on.
Jenna Macmillan, got aggressive, was going through the basket, had a couple of drives that truly just changed the momentum of this game.
Yeah, they were they were stagnant offensively.
They couldn't get anything going and it's one of those things where you need a spark from someone and Jenna Macmillan was able to provide that and she's making her way over to talk to us.
A big land, a big finish there and helped her win state championship.
Here's Jenna Macmillan.
She joins us now.
Jennifer Simone.
Congratulations, I guess this smile says it all.
How do you feel great great.
It's a great feeling.
I something I worked for since not great.
You guys started so slow offensively.
Only eight points in the first half, but you kind of seem to take things over yourself.
Driving to the basket was that your idea of trying to get your team's mark right?
We had some momentum.
We had no momentum.
First half.
I mean it was stuff was going their way.
I knew I had to do something to get the momentum our way, not from there under the team would come through what was said.
Being said at halftime.
Office we had it gets on the start office.
We drew up a whole new play moving the ball in their zone.
Did you guys watch Arkansas play this afternoon?
Did you get a chance?
I I made the comparison.
I said Arkansas looked tight, their offense was stagnant, they just had no flow.
US it.
That's why I see with Mayflower there's just no flow there stagnant.
Maybe they're tight?
Was there an issue with that?
You fill with the being of state championship game.
I'll think a lot of it was nerves.
I mean, none of us have been here before.
It was we were nervous.
But yeah, definitely, we just wanted it.
Worse up there like you talk, talk me through this last play.
Fulton drives.
The defense collapses to her, the dish that Davis wide open layup was kind of drawn up there on that play.
Being patient, I mean force nothing.
We the time was in our favor, so moving it we Bergman last week, that was what we did.
We were getting layups off of it.
Just make the defense work harder.
We were just watching a replay of your 3 pointer.
The last one you hit.
You know it was good.
As soon as it left your hand you turned it.
Had your hand up in the air you knew.
Still good first state championship in school history.
That's gotta feel even better.
Your adulations thank you, thank you congratulations.
It's big and we saw the highlight there in the replay of that final play.
When you can't draw it up any better will get coach storms in.
Just a moment.
I mean, you drive the defense draws to you wide open pass and you finish and a heads up play.
You gotta have your heads.
You had up to make that play.
You can't be stuck looking down or looking defender.
Let's take a look at some of the final stats while we get coach storms over here 2927 low scoring game.
Not a great.
Shooting percentage wise for either team.
Mayflower one of 11 from the three point line, we just saw that one made 3 pointer from McMillan.
The only three they made all game long.
Yeah, they did a lot of their damage in the paint and you have to have the shots aren't falling from the outside.
It was kind of a quiet day from Kamia Turner only five points, but she was still able to draw most of the attention on the defense from Centerpoint, Able get it done in other ways, and Mayflower only had the lead for four minutes, but those four minutes are the most important one as they were the final four fun.
That's what happens when you got the the center of the attention download right and we saw that the defense was collapsed at zone collapse on top of her.
And then all the sudden you start making some shots.
You get some drives and it spreads that zone defense out.
Other players start contributing and you gotta start looking at that zone defense and doing something else with it.
Yeah, you've got to find a way to to create some places we get coach storms over with us and.
Coach, I mean you had a I'm not going to say it was your worst half of the season, but eight points in the first half you had to say something to him at halftime and obviously turned it around.
I said, hey, we better keep playing defense 'cause you know I went in there and I said.
We only scored eight, but we also only gave up 15 and that's kind of what we've hung our hats on all years playing defense.
So I told I told him right there.
I said it.
It defense is going to win this championship.
They came out and responded so.
I I don't know, I don't really know what state man.
How about that last play.
Though the last two points, the game winning basket with two seconds just a great heads up play, just like throw it up right?
I don't know.
We were.
We were supposed to get in something there and I told him I'd call a timeout get only in it but sometimes you just get a hunch where you're like.
Oh let's let this thing play out.
It worked out for so we're fortunate.
Get blessed the *** the success that you had on the offensive end you were able to get to the top of the key, get to the paint defense would collapse and you dish it off.
And that's what that final play was.
And maybe a little muscle memory.
From your players, yeah, I I I tell you what you know which we were all seniors and one junior basically.
And man when they they just sometimes they said we're not going to lose and I think that's what they did right there.
You know in that in those timeouts those huddles there awesome in there they're basically coaching.
I'm just enjoying the ride you know, but but God I love my kids man 21 straight wins we heard the fans behind us, the Mayflower was here you got the boys going next what does this mean for Mayflower?
It'll be huge.
Specify boys can get it.
You know it's I mean Coach Stallings was talking about and it's not very often you get just.
And not just good players, but really good kids on both sides.
You know we we stayed at the hotel last night and most time when you take high school kids the hotel you gotta worry, you don't have to worry with this group.
And so I think that's that says a lot is there, but they're probably better kids and they are ball players on both sides on boys and girls.
But man, our community turned out though that was awesome looking.
Looking forward to this boys game now don't get her, there would be no pressure on me.
I promise you, I'm gonna hurry get dressed and get back out here yeah, we're going to we're going to celebrate person graduation.
Thank you, good job well done Cody.
Storms joining us Mayflower.
Your 3/8 girls champions first time ever for Mayflower.
Alright, we'll wrap it up and start getting ready for the Mayflower Boys are taking on Harding Academy in the next game.
This entire crowd that you're seeing flock out behind this.
They're gonna be flocking back in and just a little bit.
And they've got to try to take on Harding's Wildcats.
Try to complete the sweep if you want to call it that they won the football title now they're going for the basketball title in 3A and will see a couple of football players that were on that War Memorial Field.
Out here on the court Bobby great game.
Great job.
That was a lot of fun and we've had a good day so far with some really good games.
Maybe the last game lives up to it and we'll go 4 for four today.
We will be back for the voice 3A state Championship game at 7:00 o'clock.
