The shot heard round the world refers to the first armed conflict of the American Revolution, the Battle of Lexington and Concord.
On the morning of April 19th, 1775, neither the British Army nor the American militiamen expected to fight.
But once the two forces met in Lexington, one of the biggest mysteries in American history occurred; a shot was fired.
But no one interviewed on either side had a clear story about who actually shot first.
Both sides blamed the other.
Some speculate that a spectator behind the wall of a nearby tavern is to blame.
We may never know who fired first, but we do know what came next; a bloody battle was fought along the road to Concord, igniting the fight for American independence.
