You're customizing a vehicle to either sit low, cruise low, so many things that you can do to a vehicle to customize it to make it yourself.
- Artistically, that car she designed is herself.
The detail to even the lock on her car, her makeup, and her hairdo.
Cholette to the max, you know I just love her.
Every low rider puts his signature on his car.
- I like flashy cars, bright colors, since I was a kid.
It was the car, not necessarily the restored car that really interested me, it was the car that turned everybody's heads or just piece of candy going down the street.
When you're sort of designing, the car has to have flow.
So some people have an emphasis on low riding.
You have to drive your car, you have to be here, you have to be there, and for me it's just art.
And that's all I really wanna see.
- I feel like a chingona when I'm in my car.
You have to be a chingona when you're rolling with the big boys.
We would take it to car shows, I would win.
I'd beat the guys, good times.
Not even just winning, just cruising.
- There's just something about driving low and slow.
It's just like romantic, people just look at you and you wave at them, they wave at you, and they smile and you smile back.
You could do the cabrerita, you could do the cumbia, or you could do the cha-cha-cha, it depends on what kinda hydraulics you got in your car.
It's like the dancing machine.
- I think the first time I actually saw one physically, was on 30th and Mission by the Pizza Hut.
So it was always something I found fascinating.
And then I was wanting one, saved up for it, and I'm trying to get it going.
There you go, we got it started.
- It doesn't take much, just hit a switch, make the car go up or down.
But if you really wanna get deep in it, it takes you a couple years.
- It's about love, patience, and time.
And a little bit of money.
# Making love by just riding around # To soothe your mind yeah - I'm enjoying it again, I know this is gonna keep going.
It's not gonna stop, it's magic.
- This is where I feel at home.
I feel myself, I can be who I want to be.
And that's myself.
