In addition, you can see that there's a whole group of second graders and sixth graders here to ask questions and to learn how to do it also.
Well, the class itself on campus here has a couple of different purposes.
One of the purposes is, is to teach students how to actually be beekeeping beekeepers.
And I have to tell you, it's an amazing hobby, to say the least.
But in addition, what I do on campus is I do research with honeybees.
There's a variety of different projects that I work with, with my students, and I also work with the general community with regards to our outreach and teaching people how to work with bees.
Honey bee populations have been declining over the last hundred years.
There's a variety of different explanations for that.
That range all the way from pesticides to environmental change, such as climate change to inbreeding of the bees over time.
But nonetheless, the research that we're doing, the work that we're doing, plays a critical role in trying to answer some of the questions as to why honey bee populations are declining and what we can do to start to stop that decline.
