[music playing] The Bells Across Pennsylvania program is truly one of our most widely received and exciting programs.
We really wanted to ensure that communities across this Commonwealth were engaged and involved in the 250th anniversary.
What better way to do that than through local art.
[music playing] All 67 counties across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania have a minimum of one bell.
But the best part of this program is we actually worked with local artists, local artists, to tell the stories.
You see patriotic artwork.
You see artwork that reflects specific to a region or to a county with symbolism, historical figures talking about the contributions of Pennsylvanians from those regions or those counties.
So not only did the artists design these bells, but they're also placed at host sites.
So each artist has a story behind the creative design, and then each host site has a reason for why they decided to either sponsor or host the bell.
So there's lots of storytelling going around for the 250th anniversary, and we're really excited to highlight that.
[music playing] So while all the designs of the bells have been so unique and appropriate for the region, or the county of which they've been placed, I will call out one bell that I just thought was really, really special in the way that they had the design done.
Up in Elk County, which you don't typically think of Elk County, when you associate to the Revolutionary time or the Revolutionary War, they actually moved their bell around to every elementary school within their County and had all 4,000 elementary school students paint on the bell.
And then they actually designed the bell with a local artist.
And then they placed it at the courthouse.
So they have these young next generation of Pennsylvania students who that they were now part of history through this design.
And every single one of them put paint on that bell.
[applause] So for folks looking to find all of the bells that are placed across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, they go to our website.
And also we are partnering with visit Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Tourism Arm, to ensure that there is a map both on the visit Pennsylvania website as well as our American 250PA website for folks to really go out this summer.
Here's a low-cost road trip-- fun road trip.
Take your kids, and really learn about all of these amazing stories and see some beautiful artwork along the way.
