Dry January is a trend that's been growing in popularity on social media.
Dr. Steven Peyton with Norton Healthcare says the challenge has many benefits.
It gives us a few.
And today's medical news.
Is a lot of great benefits to quit drinking.
One of the main things is going to decrease your risk of cancer.
I mean, we all like to decrease our risk of colon cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, esophageal cancer.
So it increases your risk of your cancers by stopping drinking.
Also, it takes about the liver about 30 days to reveal itself in the liver as our detoxification verification system.
So when we take liquor, liquor in or any alcohol in, it damages the liver.
So it takes about 30 days, continuous 30 days to allow it to regenerate and heal itself.
So better liver function means better detoxification.
So I pay for a supplement when we have our liver right here.
Right.
And we have our liver and kidneys.
Another thing is, is really good weight loss.
So a lot of things that we don't know.
Like, why can't we?
When you're working out, why shouldn't you drink with it?
Because the energy that a shot of liquor can give you the body will feed off of that energy instead of burning fat.
So to translate that, that means if I take a shot for the next 2 to 3 days, my body will be burning off the energy from the liquor instead of the fuel that I need to lose weight.
So you may not be able to burn fat or lose any weight in those days that you're exercising because you're using the energy from the liquor.
Right.
Also, you're going to get better sleep.
Now, a lot of times people take a little nightcap to help with sleep, but they don't realize is that when you it helps put you to sleep, but it doesn't keep you there and it doesn't allow you to get in that R.M.
sleep that good restorative sleep to decrease your cortisol levels and reset you.
And when your cortisol levels are high.
That's also another thing that doesn't allow you to burn fat because your cortisol levels is as a stress hormone and it keeps it up.
So it's very hard to burn any fat or get any benefit from that.
So if you want to decrease your you want to get better sleep, you want to lose weight, decrease your risk of cancer, and just overall be healthier.
Stopping liquors, Definitely.
Let's let's do it.
It.
