Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is featured in Vogue magazine today as speculation grows about his presidential aspirations.
The magazine said Beshear is the most popular Democratic governor in the country, and pointed to him winning reelection in a state that President Donald Trump easily carried during the last three presidential elections.
But Scheer hasn't said if he'll run for the white House, but he hasn't ruled it out either.
Last week, he was one of several people who are being talked about as potential Democratic candidates to visit South Carolina.
His visit is something Bill Bryant and a group of working journalists discussed Friday night on Comment on Kentucky.
Alex, can Beshear continue to count on invitations continuing to roll in?
Can he leverage his role?
That's coming up next year when he heads up the Democratic Governors Association and can continue to make trips and appearances and try to become better known while also doing that role.
Right.
I mean, a lot of what it involves, being the head of the Democratic Governors Association is traveling to other states and trying to help other Democrats get elected by addressing mass crowds of voters.
And so it's an organic opportunity for him to get his face out there in states where people might not recognize him.
And it gives him an excuse to travel all over the country without really having to rationalize back to Kentucky why he's out there.
It's another way that he can naturally get his voice and subtle message out there as he continues to sort of straddle the fine line of not saying he's not running and not explicitly confirming that he's running.
So I think it works to his benefit.
Well, South Carolina is a strategic state for Democrats nationally because it's the first state to hold a Democratic presidential primary.
